  • It would be interesting to know the year built for each statue. So many were recently built. The 72 m Confuscius of Mt Ni was built in 2016 while the 71 m Giant Buddha at Leshan was built in the 8th century

    • @@azulablue6988 because it’s way easier to make a big statue in modern times rather than the past. So the older ones are way more impressive. At this point it feels like each country is just trying to outdo the others.

  • I live close to the Ushiku Daibutsu (4th tallest on this list) and it's freakishly tall. When you drive towards it, it kinda remains hidden amongst the hills, and then it just suddenly pops up out of nowhere, towering over the forest beneath it. I can't even imagine how frightening the Statue of Unity must look from a distance, lol.

    • #1 was completed in 2018, and cost a whopping $422(US) million. You'd think in a country with horrible infrastructure, where over a quarter of the adult population is illiterate, and a significant portion of the population doesn't have indoor plumbing, they'd have bigger priorities than giant statues

  • Out of the top 100 tallest statues in the world, there are: 28 in China, 14 in Japan, 12 in India, 10 in Thailand, and 6 in Taiwan. So the top 5 countries which have the most statues in the top 100 are ALL in Asia, accounting for 70 of the top 100. A total of 85 of the top 100 tallest statues in the world are in Asia. Also, out of the top 100, 83 of them are statues of Gods or Buddhas. And an additional 4 are of a saint, monk, or guru, for a total of 87 with religious significance. (I counted these myself from the Wikipedia article entitled "List of Tallest Statues".)

    • @@Catalyna Just looked at the Wikipedia article "List of tallest statues", which currently lists the 47 tallest in the world. Arrange by year completed and you will see that all but one or two were completed after 1960. That list didn't include any from the US. I couldn't immediately find a list of the top 100, but found a video called "Top 100 tallest statues in the world 2022", which had two from the US: the "Statue of Liberty" and "Pegasus and Dragon". Not sure where you got 4 from. There were a few more on that list that were made before 1960, but not many. The vast majority of the tallest statues are no more than 60 years old.

  • Thank you for this video! I am amazed by watch "Guerrero Chimalli" in the video. Just for add info to people interested on this statue, "Guerrero Chimalli" was created by Enrique "Sebastian" Carvajal, beginning in 2009 and finished on 2014. This statue represents a mexican warrior of old times, who is carrying a "Chimalli", a type of shield.

  • In Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India the Buddha statue in meditation pose is 61ft. The total height of the construction is 80 ft (24 m) of which the Buddha makes up 64 ft (20 m), the lotus on which the Buddha sits 5 ft (1.5 m) and the lower pedestal 10 ft (3.0 m). 🇮🇳🇮🇳

  • Смотрела научный фильм о статуях. "Родина мать" (Волгоград) считается самой сложной в мире из за динамики строения при ее габаритах. И так же является чудом инженерного дела. Многие в мире до последнего не верили, что такое возможно построить, т к вес распределен не по центру статуи а со смещением. А если еще учитывать что строили в прошлом веке, так тем более удивительно. Другие статуи гораздо выше и масштабнее, но они статичны и строятся грубо говоря как столбики, из за чего не имеют сложности в построении. Т е если строить по технологии столбиков можно построить еще выше.

    • @@pycckue_u4yt Вы, наверно, не поняли о чем речь. Здесь говорится не только о сложности постановки этих скульптур на постамент, а о сложности самой скульптуры в геометрическом плане. Очень сложные расчеты. Одно дело поставить и наращивать столбик, и другое - многоплановую фигуру с двумя поднятыми руками, с мечом и летящим за ее спиной плащом. И все эти разные по массе элементы находятся под разными углами к телу. Это какой же точный расчет надо было произвести, чтобы все находилось в идеальном равновесии. И какую сложнейшую работу при постройке самой статуи, чтобы ни на грамм, ни на миллиметр не отклониться от расчетов. А ведь тогда техника была далеко не такая, как сейчас. При виде летящего плаща я каждый раз думаю, как эта многотонная махина держится в воздухе, какой прочности сталь должна быть в арматуре, держащей на себе тонны бетона? А еще надо учитывать силу волгоградских степных ветров, особенно в феврале, как правильно написал здесь один комментатор. Там у постамента стоять - сдует, а на такой высоте это вообще ураган.

    • @@user-zy3hj3lu3y, для непосвященного сложно даже самое простое. Но дело не в этом. Для древних египтян было ни чуть не легче делать сфинкса, это уж точно. Ну и очевидно, что чем больше статуя, тем сложнее её делать.

    • Про датировки самых здоровенных - выше 85 м. Все после 67-го года. Скульптура «Родина-мать зовёт!» - композиционный центр памятника-ансамбля «Героям Сталинградской битвы» на Мамаевом кургане в Волгограде. Одна из самых высоких статуй мира, высочайшая статуя России (без постамента - самая высокая статуя в мире на момент постройки и в течение последующих 22 лет). В википедии есть Сравнение с другими статуями, со всеми здесь приведенными.

    • Oh, man, the number of ways Mt Rushmore is a disappointment goes deeper than you think. Despite its fame, it was really just a vanity project by some prima donna that was originally going to feature a bunch of "Wild West (Hollywood) legends." He swapped in Presidents to get national funding, and never even finished the project. And it was carved out of native land, instead of using any of a billion other mountains we have lying around. Because of course it was.

  • Про датировки самых здоровенных - выше 85 м. Все после 67-го года. Скульптура «Родина-мать зовёт!» - композиционный центр памятника-ансамбля «Героям Сталинградской битвы» на Мамаевом кургане в Волгограде. Одна из самых высоких статуй мира, высочайшая статуя России (без постамента - самая высокая статуя в мире на момент постройки и в течение последующих 22 лет). В википедии есть Сравнение с другими статуями, со всеми здесь приведенными.

  • В Волгограде не только Родина Мать зовёт, также здесь памятник В.И. Ленину, который занесён в книгу рекордов Гиннеса, как самый большой в мире памятник, установленный реально жившему человеку. Общая высота монумента составляет 57 метров. Высота скульптуры - 27 метров, постамента - 30 метров.

Понаставили памятников какому-то додику, который развалил империю и заложил бомбу под русскую государственность, последствия взрыва которой мы до сих пор разгребаем на западных окраинах.     • Ладно, это статуи и очень милые. А вот что меня в детстве поразило, была как-то по ТВ передача про Австралию. Так у них там стоят огромные корова, свинюшка и еще какое-то животное, и в них устроены музеи. Я была так разочарована и мне сразу расхотелось ехать туда, потому что у бедняжек даже нет нормальных музеев и приходится строить огромных хрюшек.

    • @@w415800 It's pretty permanent, it's attached to a huge framework. It has a steel frame with carbon fiber plating. A good comparison might be those Chuck E. Cheese mascot animals; it has some limited movement, lights, and sound. I suppose you could call it a puppet instead of a statue!

  • Родина-мать всё равно среди них конструктивно самая уникальная. Очень много статуй с поднятыми мечами или распростёртыми руками, но Родина-мать, учитывая её размер и вес этого самого меча, который она держит не вертикально вверх, как все остальные, остаётся самой уникальной.

    • @@skylikesgames 4sure. photogrammetry is coming to simracing communities too, privateer modders using advanced smartphone techniques to 3D film their home-cities and then 3D model slopes of their streets as city racing circuits in Assetto Corsa. Photogrammetry is a gamechanger.

    • @@Travis12861 - Some of these statues are holding a sword and similar things. The needle just needs to mean something. The same thing is going on with the tallest buildings; they just have a longer antenna. The needle can represent - the wisdom of the person... holding a needle and wins the tallest statue competition. A self-referential kind of a thing.
