If you’ve been looking for guidance setting up your Hyperx Cloud 2 Headset, look no further.
In this video I show you how to do the following with your HyperX cloud 2:
1. Download and install HyperX Cloud 2 Firmware Update - this includes the HyperX Cloud 2 Drivers.
2. Update firmware to the latest version(super important if you plan to use with 7.1 surround sound on PS4 )
3. Connect your HyperX Cloud 2 to your PC, set the default recording, playback devices, and increase mic sensitivity.
4. HyperX Cloud 2 PS4 setup - after the latest firmware update, the soundcard works with PS4 allowing you to control mic, volume, and 7.1 surround sound levels
Follow the above simple steps and you’ll be ready to go and use your HyperX Cloud 2 Gaming Headset for loads of fun.

Thanks for the review, I bought these headphones and I was about to return them. Because I couldn't control the sound of the microphone and the audio. Thanks to you I discovered that I had a firmware update to be able to use the usb controller card. And now it works perfectly on my PlayStation 4 slim. I can control the sound and microphone volume without having to use the PS menu, thank you.

You can plug it directly, but in order to update it you must use the card

Most of the issues I noticed that people had was: 1) The mic was muted through the soundcard 2) You did not update the firmware on the soundcard 3) You might need to unplug and plug your mic back 4) Resetting computer 5) Not having the headset chosen as the actual default device

For anyone who can't raise their microphone level from zero and have tried the fixes offered in the comments make sure that in your "Microphone Privacy Settings" you have "Allow apps to access your microphone" & "Allow desktop apps to access your microphone" set to on. Mine was disabled.

You're setting the mic level setting in Windows to 100%. But what about the mic level on the USB dongle? It makes just as much difference. And what is the difference on the two?
I always put the PC on 100% in order for the mic adjuster on the dongle to have full control based on the 100% level from the PC

HyperX has an issue with their website. I would contact their support and ask for the firmware download directly if I were you

Got the same issue, all you have to do is to right clik on the link, then open in a new page and this should work.
i just copied the link and put it into internet explorer and it worked. but im still having a problem with the microphone. the levels are at 100, the soundcard is working and the mic is not muted and it STILL wont talk. i really need help cause i really love the rest of this headset

Hey on sound settings, my microphone has that red arrow going downwards and stating not plugged in but in your case its there. Could you please tell me how to fix that. I am using cloud II and I have updated the firmware and restarted as well. nothing worked yet

You either did not update your firmware / you are not connected with the soundcard. This video needs to be watched fully, if you skipped or fast forwarded, chances are you missed a step. If none of what I said worked, unplug and replug your mic.

Your mic might be muted on your soundcard as a default, there is a mute button. This is why the slider is locked

What do you mean exactly by that? Are you worried that this software would change the way the headphones sound? If so, you can basically choose just to adjust the audio sound / audio mic, and you can always revert it to default.

Hey, im having some problems with the headphones. I bought these for my pc and the issues are that the only way that I can use the mike is to just barely connect the addabtor with the head sets wire. Yall got any ideas of what to do? Its been hard playing games with friends because of this.

So the firmware update is only needed for PS4 compatibility? I'm assuming I don't need to do that for PC. I'm still wondering why the mute button doesn't work on the side of the card. Also, this stupid mic picks up every click of the mouse and keyboard. It picks up everything! I think this will be annoying to the people I'm playing with. Edit: I went ahead and performed the firmware update to 010 and what a difference! The mic no longer pics up all the noises from my keyboard and mouse (thank goodness) and the mute toggle works now! I quite nearly returned these headphones. Thanks for this video!

I am on the step where I would have to go to Levels under Headset Microphone Properties, (I had made sure to set the headset as the default device but, when I go to Levels and try to move the scrubber to adjust the volume; it doesn't want to move...Why is this doing this? I had attempted steps 2 through 5 and it still has not worked...Which is weird, because I was able to get the headset to work via Discord's settings but, all of a sudden has stopped working again...Would you suggest, that I should unmute the mic through the headset's soundcard and how would I be able to do that?
So what I should choose between HyperX Cloud 2/II and Razer BlackShark V2 X. Only for courses, I'm not playing games at all, just sometimes.

I always hear that the sound cards of the headset makes your mic and sound quality worse, so i ask wether just to use it without the card That comes with some very big disadavntages, you can use all the quick settings that are built in the card (i could do that with my logitech g pro), the cable is very short and you need a sound splitter, you need can't use the firmware
If you don't care about muting the mic through the card, then don't use it. Its only good for the mute option
That is correct I noticed that couple months ago if I use the sound card and 7.1 feature the sound is not good at all. But if I connect it directly to my Pc , so much better, better quality sound, I thought it was just me.

For xbox, would it work if I got a USB to 3.5 mm adapter ? I mainly care for the mic and headset volume.
The soundcard is the only thing that will help to adjust the mic volume and headset volume mid game

Hello, like many people below, I did all the steps. My micro level is set to 0 and is not able to move. I checked and verified your response "Most of the issues I noticed that people had was..." , but I'm still stuck. People in discord don't ear me with this headset
It seems I fixed it by unplugging directly the USB cable then reboot the PC, and reconnecting the USB cable into another USB port !

Not really, you don't have to. Its mainly for the soundcard to work on PS4
I can use the microfone adjustment but i cant hear any difference if i use the volume one. Could u help me? Thanks for reading btw
Most of the issues I noticed that people had was: 1) The mic was muted through the soundcard 2) You did not update the firmware on the soundcard 3) You might need to unplug and plug your mic back 4) Restarting your computer 5) Not having the headset chosen as the actual default device

It is not letting me raise my Mic Volume. I have downloaded Firmware and updated it to 010 for both and it's not currently letting me raise it. It is stuck at 0 and not taking input sound at all. @Wicked Cushions, I am using a PC Windows 10. I have gone over the video 10 times and it's not working.
There are a bunch of answers in the comments Some tried: Replugging the mic Restarting the computer Unplugging the headphones and then replugging One of these should work

Got the sound card today & had the firmware already downloaded. But when I connected it to my pc after it was setup & connected my hyperx cloud for ps4 to it I get a msg saying ‘device not found’. Is the firmware update only meant for the cloud II?
The firmware update is only for the HyperX Cloud 2. Which ones do yo have?
Wicked Cushions Hyperx cloud for ps4. The blue one that’s been made for ps4. My worry is that PlayStation bring out update after update & there’s no firmware update for this & it might not work as well as it’s doing now. For e.g. not being compatible with future PlayStation updates.
