  • This is the VICE style I fell in love with almost a decade ago! This is raw, talented journalism, amazing editing and storytelling, and most of all, taking risks in conflict areas to tell a powerful story. Keep up the amazing work, VICE! 🙏🙏🙏 May I also remind you of the fact that our Native American population in our motherland, the Continent of America before the European Colonizers arrived, was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions. Today, Native American population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering TWO BILLION! A shockingly sad truth. 😔 In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return it to rightful owners Native American people. Notorious global cardinal crimes the Christian West has committed, and benefited a great deals, such as Slavery & Colonialism had long been over, why on earth is notorious Colonization still lingering on, may I ask? 😔

    • 'Slavery, Genocide, Colonialism & Colonization' are evil things done by evildoers. You can't discover a place if people are already there for 20,000 long years. Native Americans came from Asia 20,000 years ago when Europeans came from the Middle-East some 40,000 years ago. This land is their one and only ASSET. Their beloved motherland that their ancestors forebears had lived through thick and thin, and endured through hardships of all sorts for so long. With their main ASSET being taken away from them, their IDENTITY, their DIGNITY, their POPULATION and most of all, their FUTURE are all but gone. That's a sad truth indeed. 😔 All they Native American people need is their beloved motherland back, the lands that their ancestors' forebears had lived through thick and thin, endured through hardships and all for tens of thousands of years. May I ask, why not let Native Americans have Europe, since Europeans have had both North/South America Continents already; a fair deal? Remember the saying, "You can't have your cake and eat it too" and "A man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do". 🤷 The truth of the matter is that Native American People would forever be the subject of scapegoat, and victimized by the Colonizers of their lands, as long as they occupy those vast rich bountiful lands in order to justify their occupation. In other words, thy Colonizers are 'Living in Denial'.. They are 'Living in Sin'. 😔

  • Well here we are in 2024 and the cannabis scene in California is horrible. I sold cannabis to Harborside before they sold out and let me tell you, so much has changed since the medical days. The state over taxed everyone right out of the market and now we have horrible quality cannabis at every shop and it all looks the same, purple candy gas….prop64 destroyed the Cali cannabis scene and is continuing to do so. The price per pound as of this year is about 3-500 for outdoor, light dep (greenhouse) is 5-800 and indoor is 8-1200. Oh and Steve D and Andrew D got completely shafted in the selling of Harborside Health Center which is no longer a Health Center. Hey Vice do a story on how prop64 destroyed the cannabis market.

I live in the UK so it doesn't affect me too much but I've always been fascinated with the changes regarding cannabis regulations in California particularly. Do you know if anything has changed for those guys featured early on in the documentary with their small scale organic farms? You mentioned indoor weed is selling for $8 to 1200, why is indoor weed selling for more money? Do people not want their weed to be organic? How did Steve D get shafted? I have so many questions for you!

Or maybe he’s allergic to some flowers those neighbors grow…those could have potential health issues that come from them, whereas the neighbor having to smell weed causes exactly ZERO negative health effects. • I like the farmer dude and agree with him that all the micro growers should band together to form a PAC and furthermore get the same subsides and considerations that the mega / corporate farmers get. This is better than "too big to fail corporations.' Because if any one farmer goes out of business it's no big deal. It also spreads the wealth amongst a large group of growers rather than funneling it to a single conglomerate. So, it's better for society as a whole.

  • small tip to any small grower, or any large growers... this honestly goes to all. You cannot scale an operation without scaling every aspect. that means, for x amount of plants, you need that skilled of a grower to take care of for every x amount of plants, to keep your quality up, and to keep the consistency.. you gotta pay for your staffing, otherwise, you end up with 99% of the market everywhere currently, which is low grade mids, nothing to stand out.

In germany we have a famous Case where the female Politician overseeing everything Drug related was asked "Why is Marijuana Illegal?", and she Answered with "Becouse its Illegal!" I bet those both would understand each other in ways we never could

  • People making bias arguments for Cannabis over Roses and BBQ is ridiculous. Cannabis is a whole different beast when it comes to smell, especially if you have certain cultivars that are more skunky, garlicy, and almost putrid that can engulf the whole neighborhood. As a grower, I can understand the strong odor becoming a nuisance to everyone around so I make sure my filters are always working properly. Respect goes a long way to keep Cannabis legal. Stop growing weed outdoors and bring it inside to your own “private” property. Your sense of smell might be used to it but everyone else just smells a dead skunk.

  • And this is exactly what happened! Big corporate grows pushing cardboard terps! I'd like to see a micro brewery type situation be the main market but big corporate weed for cheaper more discreet and even more beginner friends imo. A lot are still put off from the weed smell and love them fruity vape carts
