Charles is truly a one of a kind broadcaster, just like when he played... not afraid to let the world know what he thinks, and he's right.... most of the time... I don't think we'll ever see an analyst like him again..
I mean even if he's not right, it's really such a great character trait these days to be as authentic as Chuck is. You believe 100% of what he says and that it's not just for fake drama like on other sports commentary shows.

Honestly not even in 2010, i'm sorry but the roster even today is still very good, and, imo, better than the one they had when they won in 2020 for example. I like what Chuck said that he didn't want all the blame to be on Russ and Vogel, but I don't blame Pelinka for the team he has assembled talent-wise, contrary to what Charles is saying, those aren't bums at all. Perhaps they're not clicking, but the team on paper shoudn't be anywhere near the 8th seed in the West.

Exactly. AD played in only 36 games last season. He has played in 27 of 48 games so far this season. As he approaches age 29, that is becoming who AD is -- a great talent who is injured and not playing half the time. If you can't stay on the court, you are not a max player anymore than Westbrook is at this point. That's their roster -- their supposed "big 3" is actually a "big 1" with one "good when he can play" and one "not so good."
AD is injury prone. Everyone knows this. They acquired him knowing he would not be playing 100% of the time. Maybe AD should take things more seriously and start taking better care of his body. But even if every member of the Lakers is healthy they still are not a good team and will not make any kind of deep playoff run whatsoever. Anyone who thinks they will is delusional. Which most Laker fans are.

The Lakers went away from what made them so successful in 2020. They built around LeBron and Anthony Davis and had a bunch of guys who bought into the team and knew their roles. They made so many radical changes to the roster when they didn’t have to
Plus they focused on defence before anything else. Now they are one of the worst defensive teams
To be fair Lebron and AD have barely got a chance to play together. ADs injures just hurt the ability to build chemistry as a unit. I will say I never liked the Westbrook pickup. They got Lebron they didn’t need him.
KCP, Javale, Kuzma, montrez, Caruso all play defense but most importantly they're ENEGERY kind of guys, it's almost comical now they're saying bad defense,old guys and no energy... well duh they just traded them all away for a guy who only focuses on offense

This has always been a thing since I was a child and I can't believe teams and owners have not figured it out. You CANNOT just throw a bunch of star players on a team and expect to win everything. These owners are basically willing to trade team chemistry for star talent and most of the time it ends up being detrimental!!
12 people on a team is, more often than not, less successful than a team of 12 people
It doesn’t work mostly because stats are not willing to sacrifice their numbers for wins. When you are a star and join a bunch of other stars, you are now a role player. Most stars can accept that to win, others are not. It’s that simple. Also…most stars don’t do dirty work that most role players do like fighting for rebounds, falling on the floor and all that. That means even if you compile stars you need to add these type of roles to your roster.
Because at the end of the day money is more important. Their jersey sales probably went up by 700% after putting this team together
I'd like to make a slight change to that, "veteran" star players. That most certainly plays a part in why we're seeing what we're seeing from them currently.

Stanley Johnson was once asked if Sean Miller scared him with his yelling, and he said my mom's scarier than Sean Miller. Another Stanley Johnson story is when he started at Arizona, they asked him if he could see ok and he said yeah and they made him get an eye exam and he had like 20/40 vision and he had to get contacts. His game improved a lot after that.

I have listened to almost every NBA analyst talk about the Lakers daily. Chuck is right. None of them ever lay the blame at who is actually responsible- the management. The audacity to trade away every major role player for one guy is ridiculous. Then they blame Westbrook when they fail.

See this is why a lot of fans have respect for Chuck. He would rather be genuine than care about filtering his words so it's TV appropriate. I've often disagreed with what he saying and still loved it because he's being so genuine. People could learn a lot from how he's handled previous mistakes when approached about them years later

What’s wrong with Kenny? Every team has injuries to their stars and they have to adapt because the games keep coming. The Nuggets are missing Murray and MPJ. The Nets are missing Kyrie and now KD. You still have to play 3 games a week and if you don’t win, you won’t make the play offs. It’s all about having depth and adapting especially with covid protocols.
