He is refusing to score and his defense is not great, he had only ONE block last month, while still commuting too many fouls.

    @andrewg5672@andrewg5672 Жыл бұрын
    • Wow! One free-throw in a month that's crazy. This guy is so overrated Ben isn't doing nothing to help this team. But the coach, KD, and Kryrie gotta say the right thing about him in public and the only reason he's getting playing time is because they paying him 35 million.

    • I mean the one play where he had a layup thru contact if he wanted it but dumped it off last second and caused a turn over is all you need to know about his current mental game.. He's soft under the basket and is avoiding scoring at any given moment by trying to make an extra pass/move that isn't needed. Just finish thru contact and worst case scenario you are prob at the line shooting a pair.

    • Agree. Even if he goes for 1-15, eventually that's going to be 2-15, 4-15, 7-15 etc. With enough attempts in games, it'll be far easier to get over this wall he's put up in front of himself. He's a good passer and it won't ever get him blamed for anything, it gets the other guys blamed if they miss. It's pretty shifty to be honest. He's a pass first guy, but not just passing the ball, but passing the responsibility.

  • Kennys insight is dead WRONG. a 0 point and 13 assist game is in most cases a net negative. Most of his assists are not from shot creation, but its just him swinging the ball around because he doesnt want to shoot or from stationary handoff passes. His 9 boards are also overrated, because most are just completely uncontested defensive boards. He is literally not doing much of anything, and in a game where you need to score 120 points to win, his 0 points and half empty assists literally mean next to nothing!

    @andrewg5672@andrewg5672 Жыл бұрын
    • He had a total 13 assists in the game, that looks good if you don't know the details. Barkley's point was he already had 10 assists at the half, but at the more crucial 2nd half where he was supposed to step it up, he only had 3 assists...and still, zero points.

      @rap3208@rap3208 Жыл бұрын
    • @@rap3208 yes but he has assists because he is passing up scoring the ball entirely. It's like good guards CREATE assists/shots by being a *SCORING THREAT* and passing the ball when it's optimal. He is passing the ball in situations where he should be *SCORING* so that assist is literally worthless is the point.

Even if he missed every free throw that is only 6 layups. 12 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists is a good statline for a low scoring point guard, just look at Jason Kidd and Rajon Rondo. Neither of them were great scorers but they could at least be a threat with the ball in their hands.

But let's be real about Westbrook-it took him a long time to get to that point: there were many seasons where the team Russell Westbrook was on was WORSE because of his constant shot heaving, "Russ being Russ." Where night after night, he took a ton of shots and made very few of them. He refused to be deterred. And since Kobe, everyone's like "yeah you can't let a shooting slump deter you!" ... but if you keep shooting that poorly and at that high volume, you're hurting your team. Even now, when he has finally figured out how to raise his percentage, he's still a permanent fixture on the bench for a team that's been hovering around .500.
