Even though this is pretty old by now, it’s incredibly admirable that this father is so well educated with his snake and makes sure the snake and his daughter are both safe with each other. He completely respects the snake and taught her how to do the same. At the same time, this cements the fact that when she grows up she won’t find snakes terrifying in the slightest. Most people do not get to experience this type of bond with a snake. They learn to fear them and I’m so proud of this father and his daughter for the love they have of Cher.

I really appreciate how the father recognizes that the snake is still a wild animal, and while she is friendly and calm he still doesn't leave his kid unattended with her.
Well that brings up an interesting question. Is a well socialized captive bred python like this still considered a “wild animal” or would it be considered a “domesticated animal” like dogs or cats? I’d posit that it’s neither. That instead it is a “tamed” animal. Not truly “wild” and not really “domesticated” but a bit in between. The snake trusts it’s owners and lives comfortably with them. Snakes are pretty simple creatures. When their needs are met and they aren’t under any stress, they can be quite lovely pets depending on the species and individual.
@@Vaillle A Snake never becomes domesticated in a sence like a dog or cat. They can however be taught at a young age that humans arent predators and after that its easy to bond with them. I have a Hognose at home which my son AND my cat absoluteley adore, he has bitten me once (My fault) and hes never been acting aggressive when hes handled propper! also, that python would never survive in the wild so i wouldnt say it would count as a wild animal either
@@Vaillle Yes i'm not saying snakes can't be pets! by "wild" I simply meant an animal not genetically adapted to life with humans, thats all.
@@Vaillle There is a difference between tamed and trained. Domesticated animals were bred for thousands of years to be human companions. Literal generations of picking the friendliest of the litter and breeding them together. Dogs and (to a lesser extent) cats were evolved to like humans. Wild animal can never breach such a gap in one generation. There is a very good channel "wildlife florida" where they disscus the difference between well trained wild animals and domesticated ones.

When I was younger, my family actually bred and sold reptiles. We used to have hundreds of different snakes, lizards and turtles. My brothers and I were taught at a very young age which snakes we could handle by ourselves and which were off limits unless my Dad was around. We learned to respect all the animals and never had one incident ever... The key to being responsible with snakes is handling them every day so that they are used to humans, be careful handling them when they are shedding because theyre basically blind at that point, and ALWAYS wash your hands after handling their food.

I'm glad he pointed out that she is never left unsupervised with Cher. Doesn't matter how well it's trained, it's an animal and even if the snake is lovely anything can happen.
Yes. Both ways, too. It would be easy to accidentally hurt a creature that can't quickly get out of the way, which would be heartbreaking for the child.
No amount of training will undo the instinct to strangle.
@Jermaine Anthony You do know these types of snakes aren't poisonous right? you also know these snakes kill by wrapping which takes them time to do, they will bite their prey latch on and constrict it which would take a considerable amount of time giving anyone the time to get the snake off, Your comment is so hollow and clueless its sad
I'm happy that someone made a comment like this. I love reptiles, but you can never trust them or any animal for that matter. Even if this snake seems calm and don't mind being handled or in being in human company, it is still an animal with wild insticts and things can happen.

Unlikely that that snake will ever become aggressive to any of them in the family unless they become aggressive towards the snake first it’s A massive misconception that the snake would turn on its owner for no reason it’s the same thing with most animals I’ve never encountered an animal that has been cared for properly that just turns on its owner for absolutely no reason most of the time it’s because people aren’t listening to what the animal is trying to tell them and then they become frustrated

This is how you do it. Rules and careful supervision, as well as careful training both for the snake and the child, have resulted in this unique bond. I'm always an advocate for snakes being good pets but they're not EASY pets. Getting them to this stage takes VAST amounts of work and no matter how much you may trust the snake, you can NEVER trust it enough to leave it alone with a child. I'm so glad to see a family that's found a good balance and it's paying off. That snake could live for decades. Emi is going to have a good friend for honestly a very large chunk of her life.

I don't know about python or constrictor but some species of snakes are quite social, protective about their child and live in community. So, why not ?
@@Hvginn Snakes can form trust bonds, but they aren't social animals. Saying it's defending her is anthropomorphization. It's simply showing that it trusts her enough to be relaxed and act natural.
@@goldh2o543 Of course we have to be wary of anthropomorphism. He's probably not doing a protective behavior. But we still know very little about snakes. Ofc its a snake not a cartoon snake
@@dx3406 well it depends on the snake - some snakes like king cobra and black mamba are obviously, poisonious and dangerous, but some snakes like cornsnakes and garder snakes are small and relatively harmless. what a smart dad, daughter and snake ❤
I had a 16-foot albino burmese python, she was wider than this one but these happen to be the most docile of pythons. extremely docile and they seem to enjoy our body heat so they will come around you and lay on you and stuff. they're great.
Your cute can I get your Instagram please?
im glad the dad is like "I will teach her how to be gentle with the snake so it doesn't get hurt" instead of "I will teach the snake not to bite my child" this dad is a very good dad
how do you teach a snake not to bite. Biting is instinctual and will do so when it feels threatened
@@XGrimzukiX are u saying im dumb? its usually the person that has the snake has not that much experience and legit says "I need to make sure the snake does not bite the kid" because they think snakes are automatically monsters and they are not

@saxon1177 incorrect again. This is a captive bred domesticated snake that has been bred from genaration for calm and docile snakes, just like dogs were. All animals are unpredictable. Your knowledge is so small.
It’s very interesting how the snake is going against its instincts as a constrictor and tree-climber and maintaining a very loose, relaxed composure. I would expect it to be more “clingy” at least but it appears to really give its owners the space necessary to feel comfortable.
Cus there is no survival pressure
it's probably well fed. It'll still kill her if it gets hungry
I wouldn't trust that yellow lad at all. But I'm afraid of snakes 🐍 so what do I know
Most big snakes like that try not to exert a whole lot of energy to begin with. Don’t get me wrong it could eat prey bigger than her, but then that snake would have to stop and digest for days. Any outer stress would cause regurgitation, and having a belly that full leaves them open to predators. They maybe big snakes, but they aren’t invincible predators.
@@judyhopps9380 It definitely would not kill her it might bite her but it will not attempt to eat her, she is too big for the snake and snakes know when the food is too big
"She raised that snake from the time it was born!"
This is a beautiful example of how docile large snakes can be in captivity. ❤
I could see how she treat her snake gently and respectfully can make her an actually gentle and respectful person growing up!

Well done dad, u thought about this carefully before letting the snake stay. Animals need love and affection as human we show that from young they will love us not harm us ❤
Snakes are awesome and this proves they aren't monsters! THANKS!
Way more impressed by a child being SO gentle like that than I am with a snake being chill. Don't think I have ever seen a child be so slow and gentle and sweet with a pet but I've seen plenty of calm snakes lol.
My daughter is like this because I taught her from infancy to be gentle with animals. We have 4 rats and she pets them very gently. She’s almost 4 and always supervised, but she’s never done anything rough to any animal she’s met.
fr all the kids in my family loves to torment animals 🧍♀️
It's always nice to see a good relationship between a human, a child and an animal, whatever that might be. It's great how the father talked about how he prepared the snake and thought the child how to behave, that's how it should be with all animals, even cats(and then they won't scratch or bite). Learn about and be respectful towards the nature of each animal, whoever you choose to make friends with (including humans)
Teaching cats not to scratch and bite. Teach me your ways master. 😊🥰
@@KandiAnne84 in my experience, the "not scratch" part is mostly about teaching yourself! playing with your cat everyday to make sure they spend all their energy and paying attention to signs of overstimulation when you pet them. The biting part is still a WIP for my boy, some kitties when they have been separated from their mother too young will be more likely to bite...
