@@nima5398 you are absolutely delusional sociopath. You are beyond funny if you think that any animal enjoys being lonely in the wild called starving suffering in the wild you are just another NPC who recites and copy paste other peoples comments about something you have no idea what you’re talking about. Animals in the world live extremely difficult and brutal lives. If you think they are just frolicking about having the time of their lives you are clueless. I found an injured owl and it was so cute and loving. The owl knew I was helping it and really appreciated it. After the owl got better at a sanctuary they released it back and it lives somewhere around my house. I go outside and will hear its hoots like it is saying hi to me. I felt privileged to save the owls life.
Your lucky to have that happen! I’m jealous 😂 I never find anything cool…😒 edit- not that there’s anything cool about an injured animal, didn’t mean it that way….
@@toribern816 I seem to be Dr Do Little that has had many stray, hurt and feral animals find me for help
thats so cute! glad you helped the little fella
@@toribern816 You never know when it will happen! But being out in nature (or having a cat that brings in wildlife) makes it more likely. Being observant also helps. A year ago, I was the passenger in a car driving down a mountain road at night while it was pouring rain, I was watching the rain and hail bounce off the road so long I became somewhat desensitized to the sight. Then I saw something bigger bounce in front of the headlights and I thought, "That's strange... that didn't look like hail..." It took my brain a second to register what I saw, but I suddenly realized a frog jumped in front of the car and said "Stop the car!" I got out in the rain with a flashlight and looked all around. I walked around to the driver's side and one inch in front of the rear tire I see this cute little frog looking up at me. If the car had stopped a second later she could have been dead. I was so relieved. We tried to get her off the road, or at least away from the tire so we could move the car, but she didn't want to budge. She actually acted like she wanted to come with us, so after some heavy deliberation, we took her home. She's been with us a year now and seems happy. I never thought I would have a frog, but most of the animals I've cared for came into my life through strange, unplanned circumstances.
Really lovely story. Thank you 🦉

All birds are technically reptiles.
i actually really, really like this video, moreso than a lot of dodo videos, because not only is it adorable and heartwarming to see an animal, especially an unusual-pet animal, as part of a loving family but the messages of "i would still never leave an animal alone with my kids" and "i am highly trained DO NOT do this if you are not highly trained" are really good
You said exactly what I was going to comment. People need to know that NOT everyone can, and is allowed, to do what she is doing.
Yeah, I was just rolling my eyes at the original video (with Michael in the passenger seat) thinking it was another dumb person trying to have an "exotic pet" but it turns out, they know what they're doing. Kudos to them.
So agree!!! The videos with wild animals becoming "pets" I think encourage people to get an exotic or wild animal. In my opinion, Dodo is pretty good about their presentations. They usually have the person who ends up with the animals say disclaimers. Like, "they are to remain wild", "there was no other option", etc. Other channels, not so much.
I love how this is common sense but still has to be said, lol
Actually?? It's a no brainer
I am sooooooo glad she stressed how she IS a SME (subject matter expert) and the importance of non-licensed folks not taking on this enormous responsibility. What an awesome family and story!
I just wish she would have shown some of the reasons that you need to be an expert to have a pet owl. The video just showed her playing with the owl and letting it go wherever. Someone might watch this video and think "What's so hard about this?" and try to get one on their own.

For anyone saying owls are basically just catbirds, in Chinese, owls are called 'maotouying' which literally means 'cat-headed eagle'.
I love how much she talkes about what it takes to handle this bird correctly. People could take this as an invitation to go try and bring an owl in as a pet. Glad that part was addressed seriously.
It can't be THAT hard to raise an owl. An evening of watching videos and reading up on them can make anyone raise them, quit making it be like she's over there performing open-heart surgeries. 🤷♂
@Henry Johnson-Ville go ahead and try it. see if it's as simple as you think it is😂
@@henryjohnson-ville3834 inb4 this guy gets his eyes gouged out by an owl
@@henryjohnson-ville3834 Replace the word 'owl' in your comment with 'mountain lion'. If it doesn't still hold up, it's a flawed thought. Those claws and that beak are not for show. That bird is an efficient hunter. She said that there's a healthy respect between Michael and her 'siblings', but even despite that she also said she'd never leave her kids alone with with Michael. It would be the same with a mountain lion. Honestly the owl could be seen as more dangerous because she can fly.
Can confirm, raising owl is hard. I have a barn owl, called her penguin. Her claw are sharp as hell, her beak is no joke. And when she is in the mood for mating, she would be a picky eater, giving you attitudes, and sometimes wreak havoc.

Owls are so amazing!! I worked for an organization that rehabilitated orphaned and injured wild animals. One of my licenses was for birds of prey and we had a barn owl that didn't look like he'd ever be released. So for 3 years this amazing creature was part of my family. It was truly an amazing and beyond rewarding experience. Mr. Hoot was intelligent, affectionate, curious and filled with personality!!! Although bittersweet we finally were able to get him to the point of release back into b the wild. It was sad and I still miss him but it is where he belongs. Much to wherever you are Mr. Hoot!! 💖🙏😘🦉
That is a huge testament to your character. It sounds like Mr Hoot was an incredibly loved member of the family yet, as soon as you knew that a wild life was possible for him, you didn't hesitate to act in his best interests. You are EXACTLY the right kind of person to work with wildlife. A massive thank you for your kindness and selflessness. This world could do with many more like you 💖👍 x
I love the name, “Mr hoot”!! 🥰
How did you qualify for that job and what education do you have for it? That sounds like such a unique job and I’m very curious.

0:58 that run tho...im dead..
I wish their was more backstory on she came into this lovely family?
Likely a rescue, an abandoned or injured chick that she hand reared.
She was purchased. They imprinted her; she is not a rescue. The Dodo shouldn't highlight this without more clearly explaining that. Even though the owner did touch up on it in the video, it could have been emphasized more.
A non-releasable owl is: an animal that cannot survive in the wild due to an injury, not being able to have babies, or not having enough resources in its habitat. But the owner does say Michael has imprinted so after that; I'm guess, release is also not an option. Interesting; not being able to have babies is an interesting clause....
@@StudioDaVeed I guess it's because she would be in competition with owls that can have babies so if the species is in danger it would make things worse
