The parking lots being painted is an American thing. At some of our high schools the students can pay to decorate their parking spot in the student parking lot during their senior year.
My high school seniors just had the privilege of being allowed to pay for having a parking pass at all… no one had an assigned spot and we certainly couldn’t paint them. But at least we could drive ourselves, and when study hall period was first or last you could skip it and come late/leave early.
@@bookcat123 kind of similar for my school as well except they started paw painting last year. So you can buy a paw for like twenty bucks and decorate it however you please

@@BrendanP lol I'm from the US and I've never heard of this. But it has been a loooong time since I was in high school so it could be a newer trend. We have thousands of schools here and things aren't universal. It's like the high schools seen on tv and in movies is not what a typical school is like even though that stereotype does exist in places. But the "US is something else" does hold 😂
This is 90% of my gameplay. A teen, on their own with no money and has to keep their grades up. I'm excited for this pack to punch things up a bit as things have become quite stale.

In fact, I've done as many as 5 😆 There are a ton of ways to switch up the gameplay and I always find something to make it new or more challenging but you're right, it still gets boring after a while. Unfortunately I'm pretty bored with TS4 in general and this is the only gameplay that still has my interest.
For an added challenge, give the teen difficult traits, like high maintenance, and turn on every lot challenge. It’s a hot mess. You could also give them a toddler or two to try to take care of.

As someone from Midwest USA, the colored parking spaces are a tradition for seniors. Seniors were assigned a parking space and were able to paint it however they wanted to mark that it was their’s. We were a small school in the middle of nowhere though, so I’m surprised that EA used this kind of niche tradition. (We also had drive your tractor to school day, but that one may have just been us)

I think it's some sort of state law that if you ride your horse to school the principal is responsible for it's care 😂 anywho, my school was very very very small. Not enough kids to really do the parking spots, but I know others around us do them. Along with bringing tractors to school. We used to have kids ride ATVs, but that was everyday.

I live in Ireland and we had students driving tractors to school every so often - I very strongly remember a classmate absolutely bombing it down the road in a small old Ford tractor because he was late lol

Honestly, this is probably an unpopular opinion but this high school looks soooo boring. What is the point in having an active school if you literally can´t do anything during class? Even with the normal school system, you can at least work hard, take notes and so on. It´s also really sad that you can hardly do anything on the sports field, not even run laps on the track. I think they should have concentrated less on the trendi thing and the D-pop collab and more on the school and more activities to do with school. I also wished this pack came with a principal, teacher and janitor career.
I so agree with you about that sports field! I was expecting to be able to jog around the track at the very least! All that real estate just for the tiny cheer mat?
I was hoping for 'disrupt class' or 'ask questions' or something that made the classes interesting and affected performance and possibly social.
I'm with you in this one. The school day is even MORE boring than the real thing, to me. As ADHD, even the few minutes in the video got me itching and fidgeting. There's not that much to do and I think, in my gameplay, I would just send the teen there and then go to de Pier and the city center to meet friends and do other activities. I was also hoping for careers for adults in this pack and that we could follow THEM to school and do stuff like grade notes, put people in detention, put teens to work with each other to try to make them become a couple, help with career, etc. Just the other side of the thing, you know? Like the Education Career of University, but expanded. The most interesting part for me is the Pier and the park and it made me wish SO HARD for more game dynamics with this theme. I also like the build and buy items, but I won't be buying this one until it's on sale. But then, I'm on the contrary side of the sims fandom as a whole, as I HATED the idea of a wedding pack and the idea of this one and I don't like much game play that mimics daily life.
I'm sure someone in the Sims community will make a mod that adds more to the high school pack, that's honestly how the game is still popular in my opinion. The different challenges, the custom content, the mods that add extra stuff. Otherwise, this game would have probably died out about 1-3 years after its release.
I like a lot of the teen interactions. I think the Trendi stuff is fun. But I agree that the school itself is lacking. The students just sit in class. There should be options like take notes or take a nap. Things that can positively or negatively effect your grade. In the very least. But of course if they could have expanded upon that and actually have beakers and stuff for your sims to experiment with?

Just started a rewatch of this and im in awe of reginalds glowup from these early teen years.
Could eventually be a very elite, private school. 25 students applied and got accepted. 😌

I like the idea of this maybe being Reginald’s story before we see him in Werewolves? Then when he’s an adult he can rejoin with the current timeline with being an adult during the werewolves rage to riches. Then from there idk, if there’s any gameplay based packs at that point it would obviously lead to that. But even something like Reginald has children, and a partner, and Nina has children but doesn’t want them because she’s into being a lone wolf, so Reginald and his partner raise Nina’s child?
I like that idea. I do want to see highschool with a werewolf and a spellcaster. Obviously for now it has to be with a non-occult sim because pre-release James doesn't have the extra packs. When he has access to the full game again, I think playing with occults in highschool would be a lot of fun and more interesting than playing with human sims.
What if Reginald's partner is a vampire and he has 2 kids, a spell caster and vampire. Then Reginald becomes a single dad to all three moon occults when Nina's Gregnant child joins the household.
This is it. This is exactly how the series should go. I also second Reginald's future spouse being a vampire for the three occult kids thing.
And they all hang out with Nina's youngest sister because she's close in age to them

I love how at least once in every playthrough James does he shouts "Katrina". I haven't played this game for a long time, maybe I should start again.

It’s common for seniors to paint their parking spot in the US. That’s why those spots are painted to the left of the high school!
That’s surreal to me as a Canadian. We just don’t have assigned spots for seniors. Also, not many students can drive alone until they are 17ish, so they don’t drive to school. My high school lot was small, mostly for the teachers. And you just parked wherever.
I was just about to comment on James thinking the spots were for the teachers😁. I never dawned on me that this isn’t common practice in other countries 🤯Hopefully this means ownable cars soon tho 🤞🤞

@@victorstone5601 In the Netherlands, you can only start driving lessons by 17, and most people have graduated secondary school by the time they have their licence. I only knew one guy in secondary school who could drive at all.

Imagine if you could not only interact with the bleachers, but even woohoo under them. Would have been a fun place for teens to mess around
I know teens can't woohoo, but it would be fun to have something like "practice kissing" for them to explore

Aw, poor Reginald. It's like in Harry Potter when a person doesn't have magic and is cast out of the family. Little reginald is basically a squib and now all alone in the muggle world.
And the poor bastard has like school, after school activity and a part-time job
I can't believe that after 8 years they finally decided to revamp a ton of basic systems, re-do the whole skintone/pronoun/sexuality system and fix townies, add more occults and town lore, flesh out a life stage, give us wants & fears and shopping similar to the Sims 2. This game is having its renaissance, but it's embarrassing that it took the life cycle of 2 typical games to finally get there. It's like they finally started listening to the community and acknowledged that Sims 2 and 3 were good as they were, and that their wacky experimental stuff added nothing to the table in the long run.
The main reason it started so badly is because Sims 4 was supposed to be an online game, then SimCity tanked, and EA did a 180 degree turn instead of a 360 degree turn by keeping a good portion of what they'd already created (including retrofitting some of the multiplayer game play for solo play.) But yeah, they're just killing time until Sims 5 is released, and I think a lot of the prior packs weren't doing so well, so they finally decided to put the time and resources into what people were asking for which makes it easy to figure out what to focus on for their next couple packs (rather than kits.) It also gives them a lot of praise for turning things around and adds a somewhat longer life span to Sims 4 after they stop updating it, similar to Sims 3, so they can cash in on both or eventually remove Sims 3 like they did the Sims 2 and only have the most recent product competing with their newest version. Most importantly, I think they know about Paralives so they're trying to inject some of what that game is promising out of the gate into Sims 4 (and presumably Sims 5) in the hopes of keeping this franchise prominent. Not saying EA is afraid, they know the Sims name alone will get them a bunch of customers and video promotions, especially for Sims 5, just that they know they'll have to match it within reason to keep the negative criticisms down once Paralives releases and does good given how much Paralives is already being hyped up by disgruntled Sims players. (And rightly so, but it's basically preemptive damage control.) Of note, I really hope they give us a kids pack that adds more child aspirations. I really like the teen ones but they didn't need it as much as the child state does!
@@j.stanley1669 suuuch a good comment. is it really confirmed though that sims 4 was initially a multiplayer game? thought that was a rumor. and its also crazy how long sims 4's run has been, almost double the predecessors. i dont even think sims 5 will be released next year :(
@@maneskinned Yep, there was quite a bit of actual evidence, drawings, codings, a name (Olympus), comments from project mangers (Lucy Bradshaw), and such, that indicated that was TS4's original prototype.
@@maneskinned Pretty sure the Sims multi-player mod just unlocks hidden, normally inaccessible features, the same way the "control cats and dogs" mod does. Look up Project Olympus or watch Plumbella's video about it.

Reginald needs to start reacting to others' social bunny posts - his friendship level will go up faster with online interaction! Agree, those posts are cringeworthy!
Plus I think reacting to his own posts is what’s causing the false alerts on the phone - because his post has a “new” reaction.

I’m so disappointed they didn’t make the bleachers a spot where teen sims can “mess around”. Such a missed opportunity!
Maybe Kristina could age up into a teen and move in with Angus. Due to Nina choosing to remain in the werewolf lifestyle, Angus uses the money from the money tree, adopts Kristina as a care dependent, and they move to Copperdale to give her a chance at excelling in high school.
Great scenario and as an added plus, I get to see my name, spelled correctly, in James’s LPs. I’m still shocked the game randomly named a Bigwallet Kristina 😍

I am loving this series already! Reginald is the perfect awkward teen and the cringe is so real 😅 I think you should buy him a bike when you get a chance so he can look super nerdy in his helmet, plus it will get his fun up easily. can’t wait for the next episode! ❤️
not gonna lie i GET having teen only aspirations, but ide love some Elder aspirations they can do before they pass away, maybe simple ones like remembering the good old days, or perhaps one where you want to spend time with your family as a goal, or reconnect with old friends
To be honest, my elders are often still finishing up an aspiration chosen in adulthood.

James loves doing this type of challenge so much that at this point it's obligatory with every new pack lol Not gonna lie its also my fav way of playing so I'm definetly enjoying this series

When I get this pack the first thing I will do is build my own school I want a proper school gymnasium with basketball nets and everything might add a pool tho it likely wont be used but it will fill up space I'm gonna make a nice cafeteria too and maybe more classrooms for a fuller feeling and proper school vibe lol ahhh theirs quite a few things I could add ^-^ I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I cant wait to try this game for myself when it's out :)

If Kristina (Hazel and Trenton's daughter) + her potential siblings ever appear in this LP, maybe the storyline can be that the underground vault of stolen goods gets discovered and now the whole family is on the run hiding from the authorities. They change their identities and start from scratch again, all while raising their teenage children in high school. I'm really interested to see more parent-child dynamics in this pack because I feel like they play a huge role in teenage/high school life. If paired with the parenthood GP (curfews, disciplining, mood swings) I think it could be really fun and challenging gameplay!
Ok hear me out. When he grows up; Reginald adopts other troubled youth who are on their own like he was. He would probably have to adopt child Sims and grow them up since the Sims doesn't think teenagers need adoption but still
Once Reginald finishes high school, you could move Kristina in with him. Since she currently lives in a different world from the school, she could move in with her cousin to be closer to the school/attend a different school. Would be an easy way to keep going with the series without having to have Reginald begin his own family.

In high schools in my area, seniors get to paint their parking spots. So that's probably what the "graffiti parking spots" were

One of the things I like most about people learning about American schools is the sheer number of parking spots. It is extremely common for someone to get their driver's license around age 16 (it can be earlier or later depending on what state they are in - 14 in some places!) so American high schools usually have a massive parking lot for students. My particular school would do raffles for charity where you would enter to win one of the first 10 parking spots near the front of the school.
The big difference to me is not that Americans get their licenses early, but that they're still in high school at that point. In Canada, we get licensed at 16 but we also graduate high school at 16. I think Americans graduate at 18? I was moved out and halfway through college at that point. The education path is soooo different.
for the storyline maybe reginald cloned himself when he was a teen (because he is a spell caster n stuff) and this sim is the clone but he isn’t a spell caster and his personality is a bit different because reginald wasn’t that good at magic when he was a teen
I hope Reginald will be a spellcaster again when you get the full game. You don't have to do spellcaster related things, but it would add to the character imo. Also inferniate in school would be great!
Adult Reginald goes home for the weekend to visit mom. Column says “I’ve been working on this new spell, check it out.” Zap, Reggie is a teen again… “MOM, I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU JUST DID THAT TO ME. The least you can do is let me have one of the money trees.” To which Column replies with a laugh and shews him out the door.
I wasn’t sure about the thrift store and bubble tea store being a combo lot type, but thinking about it, it could be a fun way to make two functional separate stores next to each other, which is something I’ve always wanted to do but just accepted there would be no way to do it. I think it could be impractical for some people or on some lots, but I’m excited at the idea of making something that looks like two separate stores, that is also both functional :)
Wants and Fears being back is so cool, that was my favourite part of Sims 2
With parenthood you can make sack lunch and take that to school that sounds so cute ˙˚ʚ(´◡`)ɞ˚˙

I'm with you on this! I think it would be great for the New Goths to be here, and maybe Reginald and Cassandra could have a little school romance and go to prom together
i’m genuinely really excited for this pack and i think i’m gonna get it when it comes out. just so much new gameplay, and coming from someone who just graduated high school it’s all fitting to what my interests and hobbies are. seeing that thrift store/boba shop got me giddy
So fun to see Reginald get his own rags to riches LP! So glad that I have MC command center so that I can increase the number of allowable Sims on a lot. Looking forward to seeing all of the renovated high schools that people come up with. My only sad thought is that you can’t put high schools in other worlds… I wish it was a lot type and not just a specific lot. Anyway thanks James! 💜💜

Love that you’re using Reginald for this! And honestly, since spellcasters can clone themselves (RIP Greta Bigwallet) I wouldn’t be surprised if this Reginald was a clone as well…running away from home to avoid the same fate as his “aunt”

I'm so happy Reginald is getting his own LP, and I'm super excited for this pack.
I've always thought my teenagers were boring, so....I can't believe it, but I want this pack.
The disabled parking as far away from the front door as possible was a nice touch, along with there being stairs at both the front and back entrances of the building for the extra challenge to the non-existent wheelchair users of the sims world. You can tell a lot of consideration went into it, the team really thought about how a disabled person with potentially limited mobility would get around the school just like able bodied people think about those things in the real world. Yep the inclusion of that parking spot was definitely not a token effort.
We also love how they use the gendered bathroom stalls even though we literally had a pronoun update a month ago. They definitely didn’t add the two gender neutral bathrooms as an afterthought
Also the disabled parking doesn't have any extra space around it that wheelchair users need to transfer in and out of the car. I don't understand why they would put that in at all, it just draws attention to the lack of disability in the game.
Dang even Little House on the Prairie had more kids in attendance than this School does. Those kid's probably had to travel 22 miles just to learn to read & write.
Yay! Love your let's plays. Excited for a new series! Totally agree that the lot feels very big and empty. But some interesting gameplay mechanics so far.
What if they created a game pack that was just after school activities for teens and kids! Like ballet, lacrosse, tennis (which adults could too) etc…one can dream 😂
I guess it will finally be time to download the mod that expands the amount of sims that can loaded in on a lot. I wonder how a custom school will perform with more than two classrooms?

I haven't watched you in years. Literally but I still remember the legacy of the bigwallets. I'm actually pretty excited for this pack. I normally don't care about new stuff being added to the Sims being a werewolf is fun. Being a vampire is fun being a Spellcaster is fun. All the stuff they've added over the years have been enjoyable but they never really flashed out one specific age group. The Parenthood pack helped with toddlers to teenagers a lot and the stuff packs gave them stuff but this pack is actually for teenagers which is really cool.
You can drop out of High School heck yes, I know IRL ppl should stay in school, but as someone who got her GED IRL im glad they have the option to drop out!

Why is Reginald living my life at the start of this game? It's too real. This is the first time I've ever seen painted parking spots. That option has to be specific to individual schools. It could also be a recent trend. My small town school didn't do this. We could use the side parking lot when we got our license between ages 16-17, so they were mostly for Juniors, Seniors, and teachers. We just had to find an open spot and pray it wasn't out in the back 40 if you were late. My Senior year is when I started driving to school. I wish I'd had the opportunity to buy a spot and decorate it. My ADHD self could have gone nuts with colors and designs. I WAS ROBBED!!

This is a really weird thing but I'm so glad that James always explains his backstory lore. Like, I follow so many Simmers who just "go watch this!" and it's like i dont wanna watch a 49 part series to get the lore for this one specific challenge lore to understand a quirky name. I will watch the previous series but I wanna catch up on this first; thanks for that, James. New sub from 2023 and I heavily appreciate it

Just letting you know (I haven't finished the video yet so disregard if you already figure this out) but doing the Retail job would earn more money. The Barista at $28/hr =280 at the end of the week vs the Retail being $33/hr into $660 at the end of the week. Plus the Retail starts at 6 so you have 30 minute window from the Cheerleading :)
The barista job has crazy pay increases though. It doesn’t take long to make 70$/hour.

What if this is Reginalds storyline between the realm of magic and the werewolf letsplays? Then this letsplay would happen at the same time as the paranormal letsplay with Brodie, Isiah and Candle. Reginalds children would be teenagers/adults at the same time when Chaz and Trenton had the cottage living letsplay so when Reginald eventually moves to moonwood mill at his own, his grandchildren would be the same age as Angus and Nina and the two timelines would merge in to one. That would be so cool!!

Love this! I really want this expansion pack but I have a rule that I never buy Sims additional content unless it's on sale on Origin 😂
