Yeah I was noticing how breathy he is here but he definitely improved. I have a theory it was because of how he sang and manipulated his voice that it may have been a factor in his throat problems. In the summer of 1974 I drove 8000 miles in an old Econoline van in eight weeks with only an AM radio, for my summer job. Top 40 hits were the only songs you could hear on as we drove through in places like Kansas, Southern Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and yes, down the coast to San Francisco from Seattle. This song came on strong that August and was my favorite of them all. It grabbed me. I later read it was for the woman who became and remained his wife, during a rough patch. Now that’s romantic-on this sad day.

The crowd we were standing shoulder to shoulder packed in around the stage and we were mostly guys, and we all talked amongst ourselves for years afterwards that she was quite simply the most beautiful woman we’ve ever seen in our lives. Up that close her beauty is absolutely luminous. Plus she’s obviously an extremely gifted artist. And we were a group young guys most of us in glam jobs making 0.5M/yr or more who could afford steady diet of supermodels but when we saw Norah singing from 15 ft away *wow* we started to get a clue what gorgeous really is. @@sharonburry8928 People get way too committed to their opinions about others, I'm impressed by your open mindedness. I do agree, he was hard to love at times. I'm glad he took a look at himself and decided to take action.
@@foreseengust Thank you... I guess what was missing in my comment was that I saw too much of my former self in him.. He is indeed an incredible talent... I've been brought to tears by his performance of Gravity... If one is not careful and uses too many caps as I do it's easy to be misunderstood.. Its easy to recognize an Asshole when you've been one yourself was my real intended message... I pray that mayer stays sober... We need his music

RepreSENT!
2021!!!!!!
This is the final music awards where I believe they nailed Norah and John for best new artists. They hold up so well today!
John Mayer has that 'marbles in his throat' sound....Amazing!!
Who’s watching this post covid ?
Two of my top favorite singer-songwriters forever🥺
Was hoping for a duet.
Me too, It would be so perfect if they both sang don't know why
Me too... Duet or kind of a live mashup
ah man. im half way through and hoping still. lol
it was a duet of sorts....😊
it was a duet of sorts....😊
Amazing how much better of a singer John is now
Norah seemed to hit the world by storm but John's case was like a supernova: one minute it's the best thing you've seen your entire life and the next, it ruins your home killing some in the process! Glad to still have them delivering till date.
rarely can you say the live version is better than the album.. but here you can!
So can you with all his songs lol. For every John Mayer studio recording, there's a better live performance
Love between couples can change. And yet I hope to give and receive love most ferociously and passionately, again, and again, and again..
I can't believe this actually happened! Two of my favourite artists!!!!
Those guys are great. The transition moment from Norah's song to Mayer's song is really amazing, emotional. I'm a huge groupie of both.
Those of you concerned what 'his face looks like' while hes singing are really missing out on the fact that hes in the moment and hitting it...feeling the vibe . The soul of what music is..open your ears and don't be so superficial on things that don't matter.....Real music is beyond such trivial comments..
Norah is the bomb....🌹🌹🌹
That was probably one of the most epic song transitions ever....
PREACH I SAID THE SAME...SHAME THEY DIDNT DO A COLLABORATIVE ALBUM...WITH HER PIANO AND HIS GUITAR...IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PLATINUM!!!
So good!!! Have you hear Zac Brown Band Free/Into the mystic song? It’s another incredible transition. It won’t disappoint!❤
This performance happened 16 years ago. I may be late to hear it but so glad I was able to finally hear it. They were great then. They are phenomenal now!
Norah and John are my favorite musicians
Loved this. Both have such great voices. John has grown so much both with his voice and guitar.
I always remembered hearing these two songs in a restaurant my family and I used to eat in a lot when I was younger. This was not only so nice to hear great performances of wonderful songs by wonderful artists, but a trip down memory lane.
Nora is - as always so incredible - makes it seem effortless.
I love how he struts out with his guitar. Omg. I just love him. Seen his acoustic concert in Detroit recently. He’s spectacular. Would love to see him and Norah in concert together. Listening to him for 22years. Love of my life. ♥️♥️
John rocking the turtleneck while doing head movements
The talent on stage is just out of this world. The crowd present that evening witnessed a masterpiece.
from a time when there were no smartphones filming... good old times.
That's right, John.
dudes singing has come a long way since 02
yea and even more through 2012 lmfao.
@@allen4157 why?
He had major vocal surgery after getting some type of throat injury. Couldn’t speak for over a year and had to re learn how to sing. His voice is much more mature now, and nowhere near as breathy.
@@brendanlaprade7408 Yeah... That vocal granuloma...
Yeah I was noticing how breathy he is here but he definitely improved. I have a theory it was because of how he sang and manipulated his voice that it may have been a factor in his throat problems. It was his vocal cords that were damaged. Anyway, this is an amazing video. Two of my favorite artists performing together. So good 😩
In the summer of 1974 I drove 8000 miles in an old Econoline van in eight weeks with only an AM radio, for my summer job.
Both incredible artists who have stood the test of time
Oh my goodness....two of my favorites together!!! I could listen to them 24/7!!!
Two of my favorites!! I've seen him in concert and looking to see her.
2023 it still seems fresh.

i've been a fan of norah and john from day one. i remember being in coconuts and hearing john's first cd, i saw norah perform at borders when her first cd came out. both experiences happened long before they became famous. i feel like i discovered them. lol! love them!!!!
Honestly I think I'm gonna cry when John passes away
+Darrell Patts Ahh I wouldn't worry about john passing away anytime soon. I would be more worried for Eric calpton or joe satriani, Both being over 60 :(
Y say something like that... Death is inevitable... but lets forget it for the time being ad focus on the great music shall we !
DON'T EVER SAY THAT AGAIN. Say Long Live John Mayer!!!!!
why the hell would you put clapton and satch in the same sentence
Rich Blais maybe because its his fav guitarists.... although their styles are different... they both are wonderful...dont u think so buddy
That transition is the best thing that happened in a music industry.
she amazes me... I can sing, and I can play a little piano, but I cannot due both at the same time. she is simply amazing. I love her music so much..
Norah's got such a fantastic, smooth voice. Go girl!
Norah Jones is my favorite female vocalist.. I have every album of hers… I just started listening to John Mayer!! Greatness both together!!
Norah and John, have the sexiest voices ever
Love the transition between the 2 songs. Clever.
Her voice is amazing
My favorite male solo artist meets my favorite female solo artist, I'm speechless right now...
That transition immediately brought me back to the good ol early 2000's
😍😢😔When you can feel this all the way down and you feel like you’re actually the words being sung, the keys being played on the piano and guitar being strummed . 🤗💞🤗
I was lucky to once see her perform at a corporate party and I was 15ft from her. We were all like deer caught in high beams, just mesmerizing
Gezzz, that voice.
Me and i love it ! 70yrs old and still rocking to the best !!😊
Norah is AWESOME. John Mayer has proved himself as of late. Awesome player! Wasn't a fan of his early music. Now is a different story.
2023 these two still sound fire!
Who's still watching in2023 ? Great music knows no bounds !!
2024 now... Never gets old

Love John's Smokey husky vioce, and now in 2023 i feel his catalogue of music is standing up as really unique, will be appreciated for a long long time
the perfect duet never exis-
I love how John Mayer's mouth moves when he sings! It makes me giggle, it goes wide, then long :) I love that guy
love Nora Jones performing it's wonderful
I recorded this year's ago and loved this performance. When my son was 2 he use to pretend he was John Mayor standing there with a guitar and a pretend Mic stand. Thanks for the upload because I can't find my VHS tape anymore.
Aww
he is amazing. period.
I absolutely love it when they go from her song to his. Simple, yet brilliant!!
her voice is ??no words BEAUTIFULL;)
He's certainly grown up since then. 2023!

Wow, they're both AWESOME. Two of my favorite artists. I know all of Norah's songs, because my mom listens to her constantly. But I absolutely LOVE John's voice.
JM has steadily got better over the years. What a guitarist!
this is breathtaking.
