Suggestion for a future show: Please do "The Best Games from the Worst Companies" The company has to be notorious for releasing terrible games overall like LJN, US Gold or Ocean. I feel like no company can be terrible all the time, had to had made something good to keep them afloat or close enough to pass

Most of what kept LJN and the like afloat was taking recognized IP, pumping out a cheap game, and quickly repeating. If you have eight games on the shelf and no internet to tell people which games are good, people might pickup their games based on the IP.

You really gotta try Outrun C2C on PC with the FXT mod. Full wheel and rumble support + HD and original arcade textures. Best version by far.
if you've seen their previous episodes, they never covered PC games except for the Japanese computers like MSX or Sharp X6800

@@cameroonya1 What controller are you using? Make sure the input type matches. I use a Dualshock 4, but I have to emulate a 360 pad to get rumble. You can set the intensity manually in the mod.
I'm with Dave on that Hard Drivin, it was always the brunt of a joke for me and my friends. Actually still to this day haha

Excellent episode. I loved Joe's out of the box choices, and a future installment on this same theme should have more of these creative selections. As a side note, it was great to have two Game Sack episodes this week, 'cause there's never enough Game Sack on KZhead.

The Sega Genesis was home to some of the most memorable Disney licensed games. Castle of Illusion was definitely one of them. Fantasia was not.

6:08 I love how Sega gave PS3 owners the M2 emulated Castle of Illusions Mickey Mouse Genesis game for pre-ordering this. The 2013 version also came out for PC so it's easy to back up, but a physical PS3 copy would have been great, or a PS4 remaster on disc even better.

I'm surprised to see you recall Castle of Illusion but forgot about Epic Mickey (which I think is the best Mickey Mouse game)
I remember that Fantasia game, I rented it from Blockbuster after loving Castle of Illusion. I used the Game Genie to beat it after so many failures, it made invulnerability actually cause Mickey to fall for a LONG time if he went down a death pit, though he eventually stopped if you aimed for solid ground after enough loops. This game, besides being bad, does NOT even have ending credits! It crashed RIGHT after the poorly-animated handshake with the Conductor and for the longest time I thought the Game Genie bugged out the ending credits. Nope, it really was THAT badly made.
You should try to get an interview with Hitspark Games on that Strike Blazinger to see where it stands today. It looks like the project has gone a hiatus since October 2019 with no updates. It looks fantastic and hope it still comes out.
I've played Fantasia, and I agree with everything that you said about it. It bothers me because it looks like it should easily be a great little platformer, but they somehow managed to screw it up. It would be a great choice for a remake.
Space harrier was amazing in the arcades back in the days. That feeling in the arcade is lost forever.

Oh Joe you don't know what you're missing by not playing Shovel Knight's other campaigns. They're totally almost their own games
It's also to note that all the different console versions of "Shovel Knight" have an exclusive stage with a surprise character cameo in each version of the game: The PlayStation version features Kratos from the "God Of War" series, the Xbox One and PC version features Zitz, Rash, and Pimple from the "Battletoads" series, and the Nintendo version features...nobody.

"X is bad because I suck at it." Sounds like Dave. The Plague Knight campaing, just as the character, is based aroud experimentation and finding out your favorite Bomb, Case and Fuse combo for yourself. Plague is an alchemist, he's supposed to feel the way he does.

Night striker was my absolute fave as an 8 yr old. I used to go to this arcade that had the full car cabinet. I would sit in it all day and just day dream. It bummed me out that after a short whil,e they turned it off and pushed it behind all the other arcade machines I would always stare at it between machines and on my way out as long as that arcade remained open.

I enjoyed the Castle of Illusion remake but there is one thing I won't forgive them about: We did they change the best track of the original game! (the one from the 1st level of the 3rd word (Storm/underground ruins). Also, the boss music theme. At least we could listen to a nice remix of them (Map Screen and Final Boss themes) in Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion for the 3DS.

I always felt like the hidden chilies found in the remake of castle of illusion was a hint at an upcoming quackshot remake as well.
Every second Sunday I soak a rag with turpentine, wrap it around my nose and mouth and watch them Sack Boys.

I did see Space Harrier in 1985 at an arcade in downtown, the guy playing was in his early 20s or so, he put me on the cabinet and asked me to play the last life while he went to buy one more token to finish the game as he didnt want anyone to start the game all over again while he was buying the token, he let me finish the last life and then he continued. Didnt see him finish the game as mom dragged me out of the arcade as i wandered without her noticing and was going nuts looking for me.
Glad to see a reference to Rave Drivin' on the GB - had no idea it wasn't the least playable game in that series.
Coast 2 coast is available on PC, and you can set higher resolutions. It looks gorgeous. The best experience was playing 2-player on the arcades, though.
I have a couple of niche series. Dragon Quest Monsters: * Best - Terry's Wonderland 3D (great remake of the Game Boy original, with a massive selection of monsters) * Worst - DQM3 Caravan Heart (you can only travel a very limited distance before losing HP, easy to get lost, requires a lot of micro-management) Atelier: * Best - Totori (good story, adorable protagonist, massive world to explore and lots of freedom, simple but effective mechanics) * Worst - Lydie & Suelle (traditional in-game recipes became paid DLC, no English voice, the whole game feels like money grab)
Hearing Dave say the "stiff, tight and hard to hold" and "impress the flag man" made me too excited to continue watching. 😞
Oh man. When I got Fantasia as a kid I thought that there was something wrong with the cartridge because the music was so bad. "It must be broken - Mickey Mouse games are always good, so it doesn't make sense..."

I rented Mickey's Safari in Legoland at least a couple times as a child. Admittedly, I was probably 6 or 7...
-I did see Space Harrier in 1985. And I did think it looked cool. I still think it looks cool. -The sliding/drifting in Out Run Coast to Coast isn't particularly appealing to me. I'd prefer handling like the original Out Run. -I love Claudia Black's deep Australian voice! -Plague Knight's campaign ended up being my favorite. I got used to how he controlled rather quickly. I also didn't think I had to go into the menu too often. I do agree that it could be an issue in games like that. The complaints you expressed on that are definitely valid, they just didn't bother me. Spectre Knight's game is probably my least favorite, but I liked it a lot anyway. Joe needs to catch up on all things Shovel Knight. Also, it looks like "King of Cards" got pushed back a bit. -Another fun episode. I enjoyed watching.

There is a space harrier clone on the play store called travelshooting (i believe its called). Its actually pretty decent and it copies space harrier right down to enemy positions and attack patterns. The main charwcter is a girl with a guitar though. Worth a try as it works quite well with touchscreen
