Great to see everyone enjoying your chat with Larry, James. The Mustang GTD is such a special car. We should just say that Larry is the founder of many things but not Multimatic itself. He’s the boss of our Special Vehicle Operations group. It’s where all the cool (and often secret) stuff happens and it’s also home to our race programs.
Thanks for the correction guys! : )
His passion shows, hyped to see this beast in action!
Really enjoyed listening to that guy talk about the car. His knowledge and enthusiasm was front and center.
Every year these guys talk about mustang and Chevy. Guys please the Gt Rs Porsche is all about the handling. It doesn’t even have that much HP bout it slay all these powerful car which cannot sit on the road at high speed or maintain top speed
Great stuff, but it's bench racing.
This thing looks amazing. Cannot believe the engineering that Ford put into this monster.
The engineering that *Multimatic put into it
@@hannah9418well it was Ford funded, and multimatic would’ve never had the contract if Ford didn’t have a vision. Quit hating
I mean ya multi matic built it. But its still a ford gt they just modified. So its still a ford body, chassis, motor all designed and engineered by ford. MM just dialed it in and added to it.
People love to nitpick. Nobody says, “well Bosch/Brembo/Getrag….” Smh
Yeah if I'm remembering right , the place that actually designed it is a shop in Canada. From all the changes, it wouldn't surprise me if the only thing from Ford was the body (firewall back)
A street legal mustang with a trans axle and pushrod suspension just makes me grin from to ear to ear
Ford has created a prototype here. Nothing new. Show us the numbers.
Larry Holt is a mad genius. Glad the 963 won 24h of daytona this year.
Porsche STAYS winning 🐎
Multimatic doesn't get the recognition it's due for its contributions to amazing cars. So proud to work there.
never beat a Porsche gt3 rs. it just don't have the driving experience. it cannot corner and hold the road as good. power alone don't make a great car. nice try ford but you are not there yet.

@@respectbigman3133- Really ignorant statement me boy! How the hell can you say it can't corner and hold the road as good when the f....n car hasn't been built yet? Jim Farley has challenged the CEO of Porsche, Mercedes and Aston Martin to bring their fastest production car to a track and see how it does against the GTD. I'll bet none of them has the balls to do it! Oh, by the way, Farley specifically named the Porsche GT3 rs as one of his targets. I can't wait until this challenge to previously dominant Euro machines happens. Stay tuned Bro!
James, thank you for this. I had seen this car shown at Monterey Car Week but no one got into the details of what it was. It’s really impressive. Mr Farley is killing it at Ford.
Farley is adding the rock and roll to this brand in a big way - so cool!
You had to have been at Laguna Seca man!! The car was on display in one of the pit garages, with Jim Farley standing around the car, rubbing shoulders with the crowd, answering all questions. I got some good photos.

Mercedes-AMG and Ford SVO are Company and department and Not company and entity, I am 99.99% sure that the GTD, a 100% street legal road car, will take over for at least second place. Looking at what numbers we have so far, even though it won't rev to what the AMG One can, think it might come close to besting it as well since superchargers provide power all the way through the powerband instead of needing to hit boost first. That will give it an advantage accelerating out of turns so long as it can hold the ground and not break loose at 800+ HP and so long as they dial the final drive and trans ratios for Nordschlief well.
Worth every penny and hands down the best looking modern generation Mustang ever produced, and with performance to match 👏
You got the right guy to explain the Mustang GTD. Very informativ and entertaining
I’m blown away that Ford pulled the trigger on this car. I’m glad I came across this video because I love the technical stuff of how the car can do what it does. I’ve seen so many videos that talk about this car without talking about the car. The suspension looks familiar to the Hoonicorn and Rob Dahm’s four rotor.

@mikeallen5291 Nice cars! It’s not every day I hear someone has one of these monsters! But the GTD is literally the road legal equivalent for mustang GT race cars, not a really aimed in the first place to be a super car or hypercar despite ford calling it that. Most of the frame, body and engine and components are all Mustang, certain components not being directly from the road car is to be expected as is true for every car that's turned into something like this.
@@Tula-SR this is far more extreme than just about any special track variant of anything else I can think of. The suspension architecture at both ends is completely different.. push rod rear on a mustang? Come on now, nobody would ever expect that to happen, It's now a trans axle, it's got a dry sump. All very un-mustang like
@@stefanroseEP3 Personally I never associated the image of a car based on how the suspension is setup or where the trans is or if it has a dry sump or whatever else is the case as I never see them anyway most of the time when looking at a car. The looks, engine and overall body styling is pretty much the same, since no car from the past has the same components of modern cars, but almost all of them will resemble their past counterparts in terms of look and design and a slightly more better developed engine but the same engine nonetheless. Tho I see your point and can understand it.
@@Tula-SR none of what you're looking at is what I'm talking about then, so you're responses are pointless really, I look at cars from a technical point of view, yours opinions are obviously based on your subjective opinion of whether you like them or not.
@@stefanroseEP3 I'm sorry to see that you are the type of person to think that way, as that wasn't the point at all or the way to respond. Your opinions are also subjective and aren't exactly consistent, I don't know if you noticed. You say you look at it from a technical point of view, but the things you look at are always subject to change and are almost always changing, I gave the best example of that when looking at the overall history of a car from the past to today, they are not the same, but one thing that remains almost the same is the design, case in point with the Porsche. I can give dozens of examples of cars that have little technical relation but have the overall design, they are commonly accepted as the car it's named after regardless because of the main factors. Opinion being based on subjective opinion ? As if there is an objective opinion ?
