Who would’ve thought Buster Scruggs was Billy the Kid!
Tim Blake Nelson is one of my favorite actors today.
I love me some Buster Scruggs
😂
The Horrible Saga of Americans's Criminal Past. It doesn't matter when or where, these people are murderers by design. No wonder, the legacy continues: Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Albert DeSalvo, Dennis L Rader, David Berkowitz, Joseph J. DeAngelo, John Wayne Gacy and list goes on and on. The names of these Criminals perfectly describe one particular race, that stands out for its Notorious Crime History. And, these are the same people who are trying to rule the entire world, applying sanctions, outsting foreign leaders, invading and bombing foreign countries. How can people with such a horrible history can claim moral grounds over others? This is insane!
@@maximuskiowa7393 Pete, we thought you were a toad.
I'm not sure what made me watch this movie, but I did. Haven't regretted a single moment. Looks low budget but the story is good and the action is fierce. The reveal at the end was reminiscent of "The Usual Suspects." Loved it.
A good story doesn't need a big budget. I'm looking for more of these.
Low budget? Not sure what you mean.
@@PoliticusRex632 if you like this movie, and if you haven’t seen it yet, may I recommend Hell or High Water!!!! Low budget, but the story and action, just like this hidden gem !!!!

A good review! Old Henry is a rare film, pace, cinematography and stellar acting creating an American classic.
Agreed I watch it over and over. This should have won an award for the star. So believable.
It's not a review, he's actually telling the whole movie ! 😑 Smh

Great recap, only minor issue in the movie being Billy the Kid was not left handed, and did not wear his pistol on the left. A little fact discovered in a photo of him looking like his pistol was on the left, but the photo had the loading gate on the Winchester on the wrong side indicating the negative was reversed.
He may have been ambidextrous. Many skilled people are capable with both hands.
Also he could have had better lite on his left he liked to show off also more likely tho he wanted anyone who seen the photo back then to think he was anyone but The Kid
Just saying 🙂
I did see a documentary about Billy being ambidextrous.
11:00. He has the gun on his left but its reversed for a quick draw from the right hand. He’s actually right handed in this movie.
Finally found a Western gun movie without the usual distracting story line. Fantastic recap. Thank you.
I stumbled upon this movie by accident & it’s a fab film & one that sort of makes sense! I wonder if Pat Garret covered up Billy’s death to let him get away? Who knows & we’ll likely never know but it’s a great concept & a great story with great acting! Awesome film without much publicity at all! Too bad!
I agree with you. If Garret really killed Billy there should have been photos of the body as that was the custom at the time. But no evidence at all except his version of events
Someday, billy the kids colts will be revealed, and proved Billy's death was staged...
This is the kind of movie they should make 5-6 times per year. A simple redemption arch story. No CGI. No globetrotting. No blue lasers. Just a tight screenplay, telling a good story by good actors. This is the kind of movie that should cost $2-5 million to make and earn $40 million.
@@robertanderson6929 I agree
And there are also original newspaper articles from the time pat killed Billy, supposedly the paper said that the deputy that went with him to shoot Billy and did the I.d. of the body was a child hood friend or cousin of billys....something to that affect, been too many years now since I've seen it. Makes you wonder.
The narrator of this review is the best I've ever heard. The narrator is calm and his patience is captivating. The explanation of the story and each character, and action sequences helps me to become a better scriptwriter
Between talking , he sniffs!!
subtle snuffs of blow
The sniffing is very distracting.
@@jfm562 not to him he should have max focus.... I'll pray for after he comes down
Vernon what are you riding for the Muppets?
Funny little factoid here, there was a guy claiming to be Billy the Kid found way later in life down in Mexico, who actually had a lot of the same distinctive features and scars and such as he did but it was never confirmed wether or not these were the same two people!
LOL i know whom you speak off. Brushy Bill. Hico Texas
@@ProudMasterMason My great Aunt and Uncle lived in Hico. They both met him and didn't believe he was Billy the Kid, because the stories he told around town were always contradictory. Just a thought.
But his stores never matched. When asked again about what happen they didn’t happen and he wasn’t the same age as billy would of been in the 50s.
That was true but not old Mexico! It was in New Mexico.
@@ProudMasterMason they did a story on this on the original Unsolved Mysteries!
When I first saw this, I kept wondering why that face expression of his reminded of someone until it was revealed. That actor is completely underrated.
This movie was a huge surprise, wasn’t expecting much but it was a great movie and wish it was longer
This is like a Family Movie for me! My Name Sake Sam Tansey was imprisoned in Alaska on a attempted murder charge in 1906; He was cleared of charges. Went on to be friends with Robert Service and Jack London. Apparently he also met Annie Oakley, he and his brothers were all over the West! I inherited a gold watch with gold nuggets, a Share of a Oklahoma oil stake, a Colt peace maker.... And a Restless Spirt! Thank You Great Uncle Samuel Tansey 💙
This was a very very good movie in my opinion and even being glued to it the whole time without even taking a piss break I still did not expect the ending to go the way it did
Old Henry is a great movie! Like Westerns of yore but in modern cinematography. In my top 5. Big Country with Gregory Peck is number 1 on my list.
Prayers and condolences to you and your family! Thank you for sharing! Just heartbreaking. Prayers for peace and strength.
An excellent review , loved the "If you disliked it , hit the dislike twice " advice . That bit earned my "Like" , & my subscription . Well done !
@Max AC No. Because a dislike registers the same viewerr involvement as a like for the advertising stats.

I love how this recap says Henry loads his rifle and shoots under the house. I never knew they made a double-barrel rifle that fires shotshells.
I saw this movie 2 years ago. One of my all time favorites!! Western, mystery, and who saw it coming? I was getting suspicious. He wanted to be a farmer but you knew he had other specials skills. Very creative.
How did you see it two years ago? By the time you made this comment the movie had been available for just about one...
You're right. After thinking about it I'm pretty sure I saw it maybe around December of 2021. It says the release date was Oct. 2021. I don't remember this movie ever being at the theatre. It was just on TV one day.

Old Henry was an amazing and excellent movie. Absolutely loved it
We all know Billy The Kid died an old man, just a couple of months after meeting with a journalist on the side of the road.

Very much a modern western classic in it's own way. Highly recommend watching this movie.
This was an excellent movie, and the ending reveal was phenomenal.
It was such a good movie. I knew who Henry McCarty was. He was the best actor for an old henry McCarty. There wasn't a fire at fort Sumner. But still a great story and we'll excecuted.
This Reminds Me Of 'Unforgiven', 'Road To Perdition,' And 'A History Of Violence' All Put Into One Whole Movie!
Just before you say Henry is in fact Billy the Kid I notice the position of the gun holster and in the back of my mind I thought thats interesting. I wonder if this is a "what if" Pat Garrett let Billy go scenario where would his story go. I'm a sucker for Billy the Kid movies whether historically accurate or not so I'm gonna have to watch this.
I just hit the thumbs up button looks like a great movie I've never heard of it I'm fixing to go watch it right now. Thank you for the great review
Have you watched purgatory? Great western.
I am not a Tim Blake Nelson fan, but he was excellent in this movie. Hats off ...
Rare peice of genius story telling, i love this movie Old Henry
The final gunfight was so unique. I loved it.
In the days of school, we had to do book reports. This is sort of along that line. But if I had to grade it, It would definitely be in the "A" category! It actually makes me want to see this film. Great job on production.
this THIS was one of the most amazing low budget western i've ever seen!! what a great piece.....
LOVED this movie. Should have been awarded
Saw this movie the week before last, Potsy Ponciroli is a great director, and the cast and story, top notch.
what a movie...why dont they make more westerns like this anymore.. watched it twice.
Westerns became difficult when the woke crowd decided youd be cancelled for any sort of movie depicting that era. Happened over a decade ago
@@GonzoDonzo ur exactly rt my friend..
I watched Old Henry yesterday absolutely brilliant film 👍.
what he does have is a special set of skills. skills that make him a nightmare to outlaws like them.
Growing up in the Lincoln county area I couldn't wait for Lincoln county days every summer. Still remember the headline when this old man came out saying he was the kid. They put that in young guns. Also had the experience of running into the set of young guns 2. Everything is on the wrong side of the street compared to Lincoln. Probably due to film making.
Real good film. I had no idea he was Billy until I was supposed to. That's good storytelling.

Best Western since Bone Tomahawk.

Billy the Kid was not really an outlaw, but was defending his boss. He did what he needed to do to survive

Excellent work.glad I found the video.

I enjoyed this movie immensely. But, the gaffe with the window rivals Sonny's windshield ... Tim Blake Nelson shines.

Super good production, storyline, photography and actors (all of them). Tim B. Nelson will forever be Delmar (from Oh, Brother Where) and an incredibly versatile performer.

Feeling bad about the man and not leaving him there is straight from No County for old Men
Pat garret was a coward he couldn't face Billy had to shoot him in the dark what a coward
I still don't believe he killed Billy the kid. They were friends and he never produced a body. The people who wrote down statements for Sheriff Pat Garrett as witnesses knew them both well. All Billy had to do was stop popping up after that.
And Garret was ambushed and shot in the back
