.............................................................
This is the updated Skoda Kodiaq!
Now at first glance, you might think not that much has changed. And to be honest, you’d be right! Sure the front and back bumpers have been tweaked slightly, but otherwise, it’s pretty much the same car. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing!
Once you step inside, you’ll be treated to a well-designed yet simple layout. Thankfully there are a number of physical buttons and dials on the dash, while you’ll also find soft-touch, high-quality materials throughout. Of course, you’ll also find a third row of seats here, too! Although unfortunately, they’re not available in the entry-level edition.
In terms of engines, there are three to choose from, with the top of the range model being the vRS edition, which has a 2-litre petrol that’ll deliver 245hp. If you’re not in the market for a vRS, however, then you can still get the 2-litre petrol but it’ll put down just 190hp.
So what do you think - is the Kodiaq still the best 7-seater for under £50k? Or should you look somewhere else instead? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!

  • Always agreed with the start button point, until I got a Skoda with keyless start. In other makes, the button is often somewhere blocked by the wheel or gearstick or bottle in the cup holder, whereas on the Skoda it’s unblocked and in a natural place for your hand to go when climbing in, and the key stays in your pocket. Find it a much quicker process then putting the key in or hunting for the button somewhere in the middle.

And it is very difficult to find any faults in it, in Autocar I once read, they could only find one fault that its rear voot loading lip was a tad bit too high. Positives: Various driving modes, Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport (that's great! especially with the 4x4!) & Individual. • This is the front runner for my next family car. We have a Leon Estate which isn't quite big enough for our pram and dog. With another child arriving next year hopefully, I'm considering a 7-seater which ISN'T a people carrier. The boot dimensions with just 5 are a little bigger than an A6 Avant so should be perfect for us.

  • Plenty of his complaints can be worked around. Where would you keep your key in a car with keyless entry and start? Well, in your pocket of course. The bood lid can be set to stop at certain heights. Also, easy open/closing of the boot lid is available as an option. The remote flip down of the rear seats are available as an option. It's the dealerships fault for not ordering it on their demo car (they're standard in my country). The DSG learns your driving habits, and will act up when you suddenly drive differently (or change drivers). This is also the reason why many Audis underperform in the rolling drag races. Give it some time, and it will relearn your habits. (It might also store your driving habits along with the key data, so different drivers have different presets).

Also, why not keep the key in your pocket as the Sportline has keyless stop/start, hence the engine start button on the steering column? Using the key to start the car would not be keyless!

  • I don't get why carwow are always complaining about the Engine Start button on the steering column. Having that there is much better than having to take out the car key out of your tight hipster jeans pocket while already seated to start the car. What would be in fact unacceptable is having an Engine Start button without Keyless access (or vice versa) - defeats the whole point of not having to take out the car key out of your pocket/backpack/fanny pack to get going. Nevertheless, having the engine start button on the steering column OR on the center console/dashboard completely does not make any difference
