Most Shaolin related videos I have made in the past were very serious. Time to have some fun! Fake martial arts are so prevelant online and I love looking at them. So why not share this guilty pleasure of mine with you?
I asked you guys to send me funny and fake Kung Fu & Martial Arts videos on Discord and Twitter and you guys have delivered. Now its my turn! Hope you guys enjoy. Angry Tai Ji Quan Masters incoming 😱😱

  • As a 74 yo lifetime martial artist, I can only say this was VERY right on!! I remember in the late 70, a young man and two friends came into the dojo. He proclaimed himself a grand master in Wing Chun. I went into a small room with and closed the door, then asked why he was wasting his time. He told me he was going to " show me up" to his friends. I hit from two inches away,,, at the sternum. His balance was WAY OFF. so, a very easy target. He landed at t he end of the room. I politely asked him if he wished to continue in a real fight. He left. T he point is, it happened ALL the time, in many schools. To this day, I will never understand such a warped sense of self. I have been beaten, all of us have. But you don't play football without a ball

  • I have to say, when I was on martial arts, the breaking of boards wasn't about pain, or lack thereof, it was about the performer believing they could do it. There were always guys who held back, and couldn't break the board, and it was all about mental state. Not to say there wasn't skill involved but it was mostly psychological, whether it was fear of hurting one's self, or more commonly from what I saw, fear of failure, it was mostly in the mental state of the performer.

    • @@poobface4218 Odds are the thumb wouldn't be salvageable anyway. Medical science has come pretty far in terms of reattaching digits and limbs, but a body part lost under those circumstances (and especially with treatment not being administered right away/the thumb not being put in something cold to preserve it) is pretty much done. The iaido practitioner probably realized that on some level. Better to go hard than throw all that effort away over a lost cause.

      @tek512@tek512 Жыл бұрын
    • @@tek512 My interpretation is that accidentally cutting off his own thumb was a dishonor and humbling. It’s kinda weird, but it makes me think of that scene in Kill Bill with the Crazy 88. Anything chopped off is to be left behind. Both as a lesson and as a reminder. The honorable thing to do at that point is accept that loss, in a way, and continue forward through adaptation and, in a way, evolution.

  • Entertaining presentation, thank you. You mention 'remnants of Tai Chi'. I have spent many years reconstructing the 'remnants' into their former glory. I'm sure you're aware that Mao disallowed ALL martial arts in 1949, Tai Chi Chuan included. He re- introduced a watered down NON martial version (24 form Yang style) in 1955 for the health benefits it offered the Chinese people. I have had the good fortune of meeting some old timers who knew the classic Tai Chi, etc. It's fascinating, and I'd hate to see it die out completely. Best regards, Bill P.
