A Conspicuous Gallantry Cross, the second highest military decoration, was amongst the honours handed out at Buckingham Palace on Friday.
There were also two Military Crosses and a rare Royal Red Cross awarded for exceptional services in military nursing.
I was lucky enough to meet a Victoria cross recipient when I was very Young and 54 years later I am still in awe of these young men and women . I will always remember Thomas Ricketts

@@ridds777 Had parliament acted wisely, and ignored G3, we wouldn't have. Unfortunately, the leadership of Parliament abdicated it's responsibility to the American colonies. The 3 paths that "could have been". 1. Implement a colonial parliament and name a viceroy over the Americas. 2. Admit colonial MP's or 3. Deny colonial subjects their rights as Englishmen/women. The 3rd path, worst choice, and was chosen...
@@rvail136 Supposedly the British parliament would have been happy with 1 or 2 (I think they were leaning towards 1) but George III (Mad king George) opposed it.
