  • My father was a firefighter in the RAF, while he was on patrol in Afghanistan he heard a thump and found that it was a Gurkha that had zero sleep for the past 5 days, these men are the elite.

    • Every year only 4% are selected from a group of 8000 after months of grueling tests, then 2 years of more grueling training, then it off to the front because its Gurkha brigade requirement to get actual combat experience, this is why they are elite light infantry. Plus the Gurkhas have a culture of treating military service as the highest honor of their lives, like Spartans. If you need to defend a difficult region or ambush deep behind enemy lines, Gurkhas will go in, like shock troops.

    • YESS!! I know a handful of soldiers who have been denied galantry medals, which they had received citations for, simply because they refused to bow their heads during rehearsals for their medal presentation ceremonies. By stating that they did NOT agree with the bowing aspect and that they would NOT do so, these soldiers did not receive their medals and their citations disappeared.
