A K-9 is released to help stop a suspect from getting away. Police in Los Angeles released video of the K-9 attacking the suspect in someone’s backyard. It all started as police were trying to pull over a driver of a stolen Lexus. The officer had its lights and sirens on but the driver never stopped, police say. Eventually it crashed into another car. The driver took off running and into a yard. That’s when the K-9 took action. Inside Edition Digital has the video.

They use German commands for the dogs when they’re on duty. “Platz” is the equivalent of “down” or “lay down”
That dog was poorly trained and the video showed it. Proper training would have been as soon as he said PLATZ the dog stops everything and lays down

He grabbed the jacket as he was leaving the car - criminals do stuff like that so that they no longer match the description of what gets put out over the air

dogs simply, can't get called off that easily for a reason. Do some research on police K9 handlers for the reason.

It can be I think. They can't even approach the suspect, because of the dog. I've heard of some people actually winning lawsuits due to severe wounds. The dog is ofc supposed to let go the first time it's told to

Update: The thief filed a lawsuit for putting him in danger and won the case.
You know how to avoid not being bitten by a dog? Don't steal other people's cars. Actually, don't steal at all. Apparently that's a hard concept for many Americans and Non-Americans to learn. I could go on and on about why the reason for that is from my perspective but I'm not sure I'm allowed to on here.

Wrong. It's "platz". It is German for "down". It is pronounced _plotz_ which may be where the confusion comes in
I'm confused, when the suspect took off running from the accident he had a white t-shirt on. And then when he's being bitten by the dog he had a blue jacket on. Unless he took the time to get changed somewhere

Hold on. How much info did the dog gave for it to know to only go after him? If a child was in that yard would he had gotten bit? If what I'm thinking is true then this would had been an even larger case. One that would involve negligence.
The dog had the scent. That's all the info he needed. I dont think the dogs get briefed.

Seems 'get down' might be the dogs command because I HIGHLY doubt, a police dog being allowed on duty if it DOESN'T RESPOND to it's name & "let go"
Also "let go" surely isnt one of the dogs commands. They were talking tje suspect to let go of the dog. The dog isnt going to stop biting a dude that's actively fighting him. Theyre telling the guy to let go so they can call the dog off.
