My golden thinks every visitor to our home is there solely to see her 😂
Lol mine 2
1000% agree 😂
It's probably true lol
And they're not? They should be.
Aren't they?? 😢
these reasons actually, are what makes me love my golden retriever
I agree with this.
@richardosantos100. I agree but keeping the dog groomed and the shedding is one of the main reasons why I don't believe I'd ever get one. The second is because of my health issues. Just too much maintenance. But Golden Retrievers are precious. To me there's no other dog like them.
@@danacaro-herman3530goldens are kinda like a boat. Boats are really fucken cool, but mainly you just wanna spend the weekend on ur friends boat and not spend 15 years maintaining it
@danacaro-herman3530 Yes, they require some grooming, but the reward is great. They are also some of the happiest and most friendly breeds one can get. No worries about my dog biting other dogs or persons. There are inexpensive ways to maintain a golden retriever, but it takes a little love and time. It's all quality time.
@@ricardoosantos100 I don't think you quite read my entire comment. Due to health issues which I don't wish to not speak of is prohibitive for me. Have a nice day.
That video of the golden retrievers in the pool… what if you brought home to wrong one 😂
Haha
😂😂😂
Funny thing the wrong retriever would each settle in well in their new homes 😂😂😂. They have been known to follow strangers around like it's new found or long lost family
@@pmabhandemine would greet everyone at the door. If my water delivery guy decides to steal him he would glady go home with him.
@@juusan8078 That kind of lack of loyalty is why I'm not fond of goldens.
Labrador retriever owner here. I can literally walk to the corner and come back and my Lab will be crying and whining out the window and when I walk in it’ll be super excited of my return. I be right there like dude relax I only left for 5min. You’d think I left for a week the way it reacts lol
Have you tried to ignore your dog when you go in/out, meaning, no baby talk right before you leave/come back or anything of that sort, like some people do a whole 5 minute apology to their dog just before they go to work and then do 5 minutes of extreme baby talk/just showering the dog with praise right when they come back from work to "make up" for having to wait. What this does to your dog is that it tells them that you leaving/coming back is a VERY special event that under any and all circumstances must be attended to, which gets your dog super excited and once you leave and it has nowhere to put this excitement, it whines and cries. What i suggest is slowly desensitizing the dog by ignoring him around the house as you do your thing and especially when you leave the front door or you come back, just ignore the dog until it calms down.
@@monsterbulgariawhen I walk out I don’t tell my Lab nothing. I just roll out to work, the store etc. Only time I baby them is when I come back from work, that’s when she goes crazy but you know it’s a Lab. I gotta show it some love. When I go to the store and come back home after 30min-1hour that’s when I just walk past her. She gets the idea when I walk in and ignore her, my Lab ain’t no dummy. She knows I don’t give in to her tricks.
When my husband comes home from work all I need to say is, "daddy's home " and he's right at that front door wagging and barking 😂
They're very stubborn, they always understand exactly what you said and act like they don't until they get you mad.
But they're so cuuuute 😊

Ikr
I have one, and they really are the best dogs in my opinion! These reasons are nothing compared to how great they are.
golden retrievers should never get underestimated for the energy it has
Same with labs
@@rafruiz8674 agreed
@@rafruiz8674 English labs are less rambunctious
@@rafruiz8674and here I am who naively took a golden lab puppy. He’s so fricking cute looking like a black golden retriever but is so fcking crazy. Everytime he manages to get in my bed he jumps like a fcking kangaroo and run in circles and acts like he is digging my bed. Then stops and look at me like he is proud of his stupid shenanigans zHahahaha
@@juusan8078 haha congrats on ur new puppy.remember every single minute ur wijt him it’s a training session especially while he is a puppy. He will act like a crazy puppy but if you spend lots of time with him and train him I have no doubt he’ll be a great behaved lab like most are.
I love my golden, he keeps my serotonin levels up and running all day 🥰 he never leaves my side
Lucky you😊
I have a French mastiff, he's great since I don't need to take him for walks that often, and he is so damn loyal and attentive. You should do a video on them :D

Ive got a border collie golden retriever mix. He is very social and literally what he said. When I walk away from him and reappear he will get excited. I love it.
That pool scene!😂😂😂
Lmao the edits 😂
My grandma’s Golden Retriever: yiu threw the ball, you go and get it whilst I have a nap’ 😂
Thanks for giving pros and cons. Every breed has good and not so good qualities and it's so important to understand what you're in for with ownership. I've had Cairns for most of my life and they're not for everybody. But they sure are for me.
None of those "Don't" reasons are valid. Best dogs on the planet.
😢
They’re valid because some people can’t handle all of that. Some people want a lazy dog like a basset hound.
Idk…. I’m a bit partial to my pit bull/boxer mix 🤷🏼♂️
the haaaiiiiir is so much bro it is disgusting
@@binkibonko69Don’t ever get a pet. It would be horrible for the pet.
We had a golden retriever/bloodhound mix...he was the perfect blend of let's go hiking for hours ...and we're chillin' and watching movies tonight
To add onto reason number 2. Over excitement can also cause dogs to wee everywhere.
You just described our Aussie.
Aussies rock!!!
My neighbor has one she gets so excited when I come over until I taught her to calm down, which is easy until I say play, she stays calm! She is a sweetheart and loves to play!
The edits got me 😂😂😂
Just got a Golden Retriever puppy! 10 weeks old now. But compared to my Border Collie, she's way too relaxed 😂
I have 2 Golden Retrievers. One is Field line. They both have tons of energy so a walk or 2 a day, running around for 30+ minutes and puzzle toys help. Plus having them in agility or more. The jumping up part can easily be corrected. Mine know that they can't jump that they have to sit to be pet. And yes they do shed a lot. Daily brushing and a bath every 2 weeks.
I have two Goldens and love them both. However, sometimes their energy can become overwhelming.
Please a Video about the American Akita 🐕
BEST Trainer on earth #GarretWing
Golden Retrievers are simply great dogs. I might be a little biased because I owned one, and she was absolutely phenomenal. Loyal, loving, and endless fun, I will forever love Jasmine. She was simply the best.
Reminds me of Nala stomps, her energy is infinite and knows no limits
I love how he's just giving him treats almost instinctively. Like he's just handing him every treat in that pouch and probably doesn't even realize it. I love a dog that'll steal treats while I'm so busy talking I haven't noticed. You can tell that Golden retriever is spoiled and I love it. 🤣🤣
The editing in these videos is simply outstanding 👏
My Cane Corso has that social "problem"(definitely a benefit), he loves his people. It's nice to come home and he's missed me as much I as i do him. even though he has other people for company
Mine loves her family is closest to me but will run to others in her family. Just curious, does yours seem to have a different bond with family members? Mine loves me but doesn't jump up to lick me like my teenage son.
Yes definitely, my father and the dog are very calm and when he wants pets the dog sits up right and waits like a good boy. For me he likes to nudge me and be all up close and loves snuggles. But it's definitely a boundary/training thing. I think my boundaries have always been ever so slightly more relaxed than my dad so he likes to push them with me. I used to let him sleep in my bed as a puppy but he quickly was taking the bed space from me. He now just always assumes his room is my room
@@ricgray9986 honestly there such awesome dogs with so much personality. I'm pretty young and have only had a few breeds of dogs but the cane Corso has left a mark on me as a huge love bug but also a mean MF if need be
@JimmyLucas-ev1hp Must be a Corso thing. My last dog was really everyone's dog. My now ex girlfriend spent more time with my girl but she's closest to me. Kinda surprised I haven't heard Garrett or Wii A mention Corsos having a different bond with family members. Being a life time dog owner, 50, my girl is very different than the typical family pet. Hard to explain unless you have one.
No downside to owning one really. How I miss my girl, she was such a sweetheart
He gave the man a Boop!
One of the Major reasons I haven't gotten a Dog is because I know I don't currently have the time to take care of it.
That makes you a very good dog owner. Hope one day you're able to have the freedom to have one as they are honestly the most beautiful and loyal dogs ❤
Me 2😢
@@vegantaco9464 Aww Thank you! I want to get a Golden for sure. I Also want to make sure I have enough Backyard Space for it to play❤️
My roommate had one super social! but she definitely was also a guard dog when strangers came around.
I have a sheepadoodle and it’s everything you described in this video haha, super excited when anyone walks in, even if you’ve only been gone for a minute or 2
I had a lab not a golden BUT he was so high energy he ran right thru me when we went walking in the woods. He was so excited to be out in nature he had the zoomies and just knocked me off my feet. Loved my Kip ❤
They are really active...but they adjust so wisely ....like water they just fit ..we went vacations, vacations with them...and the people met them still asks about them ...goldens are angels
We just got a German Shepherd/husky mix, I can knit a blanket together from the hair in a week’s time.
My rescue dog snapped his leash and attacked another dog, causing a dog fight. He was def trained as a guard or fight dog. But when he's with me, he is the sweetest dog ever. So affectionate. This isn't my first dog, there's no instruction manual for anything in life.
Breed?
Ive had Goldens for almost 30 years and you are 109% accurate..thats why i love them lol
My dog is attached to me and only me, will bite or growl (mainly growls) at anyone who comes near me (unless im holding him), everytime i leave (could be me just going around the corner for 5 minutes) and he starts going crazy once he sees me again, whining, running in circles, stuff like that, and hes just a dachshund
I owned a beautiful retriever over 30 years ago when my kids were small. Beautiful boy and perfect with the kids. I've always meant to get another but ended up with terriers, scaling down from Staffordshires to Jack Russells, but my old Shane has been up there with the top 4.
What do you think about the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog aka the Swissy? I’ve been thinking of getting one. Yes I have experience raising medium-large dogs.
Neighbors of mine had 2 of them, when they went outside they always ran over to say hi
My lab mix is so excited. Even when we leave for 3 minutes she goes crazy when we come back. I think she might be mixed with golden retriever lmao.
Reason number 4: Golden Retrievers are very prone to cancer. Estimates suggest that around 60% of golden retrievers develop cancer, which is about twice the rate seen in other dog breeds
*Still love my golden floofballs though
My friend has a golden/husky (1 year old), which you would think would make a crazy ass dog but that boy is the most relax creature I've ever met.
Can't help but laughing hard any time I see clips from this guy!!! He's soooooo funny
I am on my 16th golden and they are hairy, but I will take it any day for their fun attitude, cuddly demeanor, and over all happiness when I get home. Even if its just to get the mail. Every one was gentle with my grandson. They knew who they could be rough with and who needed more gentle attention. Play ball, play with toys its just fun to be with them.
I am on number 15. They are just so precious. And yes, they know who can play rough and who to be gentle with.
I can't hold my laughter with those god-damned edits😂💀🤣
More reasons to get a Golden retriever, thanks buddy!
shedding is a valid reason for bro to get a pet
I miss my Golden boi, He was such a sweetheart, He was an old good boy who got excited iver keys Jiggling
👇 if you think every animal deserves a treat.
Not mosquitos
The best dog I ever had was a golden! The soul of a mellow surfer and a heart of gold
My pup makes the same exact noise when I walk in lmaooo. Literally sounds exactly the same.. he’s a white gsd Eskimo mix tho. Same with the injury thing, got too excited and pawed me in the mouth.. so much blood I had to make sure a tooth wasn’t missing. Also ran into the back of my leg so hard I dislocated a knee, all within a week
my golden is the laziest creature i have ever seen. you throw the ball twice and he's like "yeah nah i've had enough"
I have a dyson pet vacuum, still need to hoover at least twice a day lol. Goes for monthly grooms and the occasional trim. Helps loads for heat in summer and in winter as the longer fur gets so filthy with mud. Even with brushing it's constant. But I carry my ginger hair covered clothes with pride 😂 the energy is insane though. We're a very active family so it helps. But if you don't have time for long walks or not a fan of them they're really not a great idea for you. But they are honesty beautiful dogs with amazing personalities and a great family dog of your able to support their needs. I have a Canadian red golden retriever and he's an absolute mentalist haha. But they do seem to be very easy to train.
My Rottweiler is point 2 & 3 of this video 😂
That excitement can break bones. My friend who owns a golden had it happen to her
robber: hhehe me steal golden boi: hi :D
Are all labs in general, the same? We recently adopted a chocolate lab female. What can I expect from her, behavior wise?
same.Labs are just basic version of Goldens.
Aren't labs supposed to be more intelligent? Also I've heard they're meaner. I'd say proceed with caution and socialize gradually. Depends on character so much, especially with fosters. My foster was too reactive towards other dogs although not necessarily aggressive but she did calm down after around 3-4 months. I'm a newbie too though so I'm sure that matters a lot too
@@SA-ey6ntnot really Golden's aren't stupid at all. They're just goofy and excitable but that doesn't mean they're dumb. I trained my Golden's easily they instantly go to crates on command and can walk themselves home. They also know the standard sit, lay, roll over, and stay commands.
@@DeadpanVT I didn't say they were dmb though
Thanks, she's getting spayed in 2 days🙂
These are more reasons to get a golden. Best family dog we have ever owned.
My Theo is a unicorn when it comes to being social. If its not me or my mother, he wont go near them. He'll actively run away and hide behind me.
I see the second one as a big ass win
My neighbors golden retriever tried leaving with some random guy at a park 2 months ago 💀💀💀💀
Its a miracle EVERY SINGLE time I come back to the car from getting a bagel
My service dog is a fully trained Golden. He is calm and focused 90% of the time but when we go to my mom's house, his "socia"l side bursts out of him and he becomes crazy for 30-45 minutes. I can get him under control and put him in "place" easily but choose not to because he never becomes a problem and I like to give him his special fun time.
Thank you, the cuteness factor is a total take over. Thanks for true info.
We need Dobermans
Awwwwnnn lovely breed..... Love the fact they get excited seeing come back 😊😊😊😊😊
Holy moly - I have a 1/4 golden (golden doodle) and even his lovebug meter is OFF THE CHARTS!!
This pup got so much treats while shooting this video.
Goldens are so squishable with their sweet, little faces 😊
Currently watching this with my new golden retriever puppy sitting next to me
Shedding is a understatement
Fantastic editing on this my goodness I got a good laugh
Had a golden retriever for 17 years. Yes SEVENTEEN. He was the gentlest golden ever. Lazy not at all scratchy around children. I think it depends on your environment and how you are around them. They adapt to pretty much anyone’s work/life lifestyles
My yorkie will play fetch for 4 hours straight..
I have 2 labs and a staffy, one of the labs goes fucking MENTAL when he sees a tennis ball or somebody at the door haha. He doesn't jump up or budge anyone, just stomps around at 100mph
All of those sound like an absolute win lmao
You forgot to add that they steal your shoes and socks
Thanks for reason no three, I was thinking why is she shedding so much, but now I know it’s normal.
My mom's golden can turn a hardwood floor into shag carpet in 13 days
Already got one as family pet and we love her
Please make a similar series for Labradors
Don't forget, they love water. I took care of a yellow lab for a couple of weeks. Every morning I took him out to the pasture and he would jump right into a muddy ditch. Came out half black. Fortunately he then ran over to the pond and washed off all that mud.
Love these doggos 🐶
I own a goldie, their energy level is high especially when they are puppies till 2-3 years old. They are large breed, they are strong and grow up fast! They can be extremely clingy. BUT, all that can be reduced significantly IF you are prepared to train them at very early stage, and leave them gradually. This takes DAILY routine training for MONTHS at home and outside! Also, be consistent, don’t play/cuddle them so much then expect them to be okay on their own. Be kind to them is to understand their needs and apply suitable boundaries, just like raising kids. Dogs are guaranteed to be loyal and love you unconditionally at the end. ❤😅
Pro tip: If you want your retriever to be calmer then just get an English cream golden retrivers, a show dog.
These breed is still adorable! Informative video . Thank you
Can you do rough collies next? I got one the other day. I did lots of research beforehand but I'm curious what you think
This is so true! Not every breed is for everyone. Please be careful not to buy into all that’s portrayed in the movies, ads and even people you know, incl. breeders. Please be sure to do a very thorough research before getting any dog. Based on my own experience it might be good to have at least one person you trust research with you. When we decided to get a golden I only saw the cute senior in the neighborhood together with the key words “willing to learn, family dog” and neither did the energy requirements register nor did I really understand what they were saying. I did explain to the breeder what we had in mind and she confirmed it would be fine. However it really wasn’t. Seven years later, our golden has finally arrived at the energy level we actually like! Don’t get me wrong, he is a great dog and we love him very much, however this really was not the right breed for us after all …
So the calmer version of a husky
Can you do top reason why you want to get a Labrador retriever?
We had a Labrador Retriever, that dog had been dead 5 years and we could still find his hair wedged into some parts of the house.
Awesome depends on the “show/campion” line and the “field/working” line. My experience is the field line has bunch of energy and can retriever literally all day long non stop. The show line most of the time are couch potatoes. Show line are normally thickboned and working line normally lean and athletic. Great dog, easy to train (if you know how to train), and very social. Great bird dog
I have two golden retriever. One a mix with God knows what because I got her off a a grocery store parking lot that said free dogs. She has short hair with no under coat. So the shredding wasn't bad. My first golden retriever tho. Shred during the summer. Got her off of the shelter. Once my family saw a golden retriever being for sale we ran pushed everyone to get Pippi amazing on walks. Really calm
What are the best breeds to keep outside.
