  • Jocko can we get John Stryker Meyer on joe Rogan while he’s still with us to talk about Sog he said he doesn’t want to ask you because you’ve done so much for him but I think the stories of MacVSog need to be told on JRE

    • He’s already been on Jockos show, and he’s already been on countless podcasts. I’m not sure that there is anything new to find in his story. Go check out the episode he did on Cleared Hot.

    • @@The_Red_Off_Road I know but his and the other story’s of MacVSog deserve to be widely know and I think Joe would love hearing it on a show

      @mrbigw100@mrbigw100Ай бұрын
    • @@mrbigw100 it’s already been told. He wrote a book. I’m sure you have a lot of respect for JSM, but let him rest easy. He’s a busy guy doing a lot of work for the MiA’s and he doesn’t want the spotlight. His story has already been told. Now, if you want his perspective on current events or another situation, yes, I’d watch that. But another podcast with him telling the same story again? I wouldn’t watch it. Mostly because I don’t need to listen to another man’s story to feel good about my life. Get out and go live life. There is more to the world than listening to a Vietnam vet tell his story for the 15-thousandth, 9-hundred and seventy-eighth time.

    • @@The_Red_Off_Road will agree to disagree mate he does want to go on the JRE just dosent know how to not only to tell his story’s but the other men of MacVSog as well and I’m sure Joe would enjoy the conversation

  • I have a lifetime of experiences of this subject, and have a lot of information and insight about how adults try and often fail with camp life. Many people want to form a life not based on rules and rank, have freedom, but to be successful, each individual has to have good hard and soft skills before any camp living begins. An incredible amount of communication is needed before any work takes place. Which often does not happen and soon conflict begins regardless of good intentions, somebody's toes gets stepped on. I don't have a book but do have a bunch of notes and story to share to anyone interested of how to have a greater chance of success with a "tribe".

  • Thanks Jocko. I first saw these theories play out at my first job, as a supervisor with a major corporation, in 1980’s. I was both a safety team and quality team leader apart from regular duties. In both teams I instinctively brought the teams together and said we have the right team to Team of the year. I lead the meetings by facilitating ideas and guiding the best ideas to the top. Everyone in the teams felt empowered, but what I did not see coming was how team members would talk about other Safety and Quality Teams. It had gone from healthy competition to trash talking the competitor teams. I found this intriguing at the time because members on my teams would have great friends on other teams, but would still talk badly of other teams. Your show today reminded me how my teams reacted as the study you covered today. Final note: had I held safety and quality team meetings just to pass time and not actually work towards goals, then I’m sure my teams would have shown little interest in other team members. Final observation: once one team leader & team made it clear that all team members were striving to be team of the year this fueled all the other team leaders and members to strive to prove their team was better than all others. Experience results in fostering different and improved attitudes: As I matured as a leader I took time to remind each team that although we are striving to be the best Safety or Quality team the purpose here is not to prove we are better then other teams, but actually to bring the best ideas with detailed cost/benefit analysis, and action plans to implement so to improve Safety or Quality for everyone in our Distribution Center and Company wide. In summary one leader can shape and layout goals for a group fostering healthy competition, but underscoring that each team is striving to improve things for everyone. In fact when our team had a great idea, but not the budget to implement, we would pitch the idea to another team to do a joint project combining the two budgets.

  • It's basic human instinct not to trust each other there is no changing it no matter how "technical" we are or advanced. It's not a mystery by any means it's understanding there is differences can't help how you feel.

  • The "Robber's Cave Experiment". Classical, very well known psychology/sociology study Filled with interesting ideas about conflict, harmony and leadership I always thought that in a world where everyone was "the same race", we'd still find conflict anyways Now imagine trying to reconcile the near infinite differences that actually exist between groups of people Seems the best way to unite people is a common goal or a common enemy, rather than logical communication and emotional connection. Kinda sad, but that's humans for you lol

  • Can't help but imagine how this experiment would have gone if they had chosen first-generation Italian/American Catholics, instead. There would be competitions for the best meatballs, best bread, and of course, who made their Nonna's lasagna the best. You'd also have competitions to see who laid the best tile, and concrete driveways. Lastly, lets not forget about baseball. Us Italian/Americans made baseball great.

It’s meant as a statement of fact outside of your world of expertise and service, where you may not likely find agreement or semblance to. Just the same as I will never know what it’s like to be at an APEX LEVEL of combat/ defending a Nation on a moment to moment level. Thank you for your podcast. 🇺🇸

  • Jocko, you should have Eric Deming and other SEALs who know the truth about Task Force Bruiser, including some of the marine leadership, and maybe some of the Goldstar families. I was 21 years active duty Tactical Helo Aircrewman and Search and Rescue Swimmer, retired then served 16 years as a Police Officer. Now I’m ashamed that I ever listen to your podcast and I will be unsubscribing for sure and for certain. You need to clear your conscience and start telling the truth and have some folks on your podcast that do the same.
