OMG you guys bought a land cruiser this is gonna be epic series
You just made my week! I have a 1999 Land Cruiser. 267,000 miles and running perfect!
Neil Wortman liar
When that oil pump housing starts to leaking the entire engine has to be torn apart. I still like them, though.
Daryl Is that common? What years?
My 2004 LX is about to hit 250,000 miles and she still looks and smells like new! Just keep up on the maintenance religiously, my rig was like the one in the video in that the original owner handed me a stack of receipts for all the maintenance.
@@Mabeylater293 I have a different year but same model and yes, just do your fluid changes on schedule, change out the plastic heater T's at the back of the engine ($15 in parts) and do your timing belt service every 90k miles and they will keep running like one of those old Stomper toys. There can be repairs to the steering rack or brake system with extended mileage but those are more rare and random repairs.
It’s amazing you two get to work together! Very cool! Father and son!
I noticed his son always put his hands in the pockets, good or bad manner ? you to decide
The best purchase you guys have ever made, can’t go wrong with Toyota, especially the Land Cruiser!
I love that the father is the one taking the chances and the son is the one being conservative. Reminds me of me and my son. I'm the crazy one.
Tommy the smart one here.
Robert Hull you’re saying you raised a pussy
It takes both personality types to balance one another and have a good time!
@@CANControlGRAFFITI if he heard you say that he'd throw conservative out the window and beat you senseless. And he's 11. And then he'd lecture you as you're bleeding from your ears that there's a difference between conservative and being a pussy.
Good job guys. Finally Toyota in your fleet.
Toyota designed all components on the Land Cruiser to last a minimum of 25 years. Great purchase!
Yeah. Its amazing how good these vehicles are and how consistent they are. They just NEVER give up
Except the leather seats...
Reading Land Cruiser forums be like: "So today I drove from New York to the Congo with stock everything and a snorkel." Reading Range Rover forums be like: "What's that liquid on my floor board? Where is that smell coming from? Is something on fire?"
Ahaha, so much truth in this.
Lol
Lol
Do you own either? Probably not: forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2017-land-cruiser-transmission-needs-replaced.961378/page-3 All vehicles are not infallible, including the LC.
fredbrackely so what? LRs are garbage.
Land cruiser! Looking forward to videos of this rig off road
Now this is great original content!
This Father's love of his son is a beautiful thing to behold. The land cruiser while a thing of beauty all by itself is merely the backdrop to what is truly on display in this video and in all the videos with this team of Sr. And Jr. Yes, these are all vehicles reviews and professionally done, but in 40 yrs when a son looks back, it wont be the the cars that he'll notice, it'll be a beautiful letter from a Dad to his boy.
foofoo rabbitt I just went down to the comments to say “these Father Son videos are great”. I like your comment better :)
So true
My new favorite from you guys! Can’t wait to see more from this off road king!
Roman you insulted the land cruiser, when you said take discovery as a recovery vehicle, it's actually the other way around, like they say in Australia if you want to go to the out back take land rover, but if you wanna come back take Land Cruiser. Love your channel.
i chuckled when they said that. The cruiser doesn't need any help from anything else.
the street tires are the only thing holding the cruiser back
LOL
100% agree
I almost cry when he say take the Land Rover. LOL 😂
This is awesome. Can’t wait for videos with this beast. Way to go, TFL 👍🏽
Great video, I just picked up my 2019 LC three weeks ago and love it! Watched all of your Land Cruisers videos prior. Can’t wait to see this series. Promptly buried mine this weekend in the snow and just watched it take 15 minutes in crawl for it to pull itself out. None of my prior 4Runners could have ever done it. Love your videos👊👍
We have a 2013 LC we purchased 3 years ago. We love it. No disappointments. People talk about the nasty fuel mileage. I got 18 mpg going on a 2000 mile trip to Texas this past Summer going 75 and 80 mph. Sure it gets about 12 mpg in town, but we use other vehicles for that job. It is our 3rd Landcruiser. The other two were way under powered, but not this one. Oregon is a great place to use it. Snow in the Winter and mud in the Fall and Spring and some trails in the Summer. We use the cooler box between the front seats, tow a 24 foot box trailer with toys to the sand dunes and always enjoy the cooled/heated seats. I hope to keep this till I die.
My favorites two guys from TFL!!!! And they are introducing best off-road vehicle in the world!! Thank you Roman and Tomy!!!
Taras Moseichuk Lol I like the rig but you definitely got ya facts twisted ... Land Cruiser maybe one of the greatest overland rigs but no way in hell its the best off-road rig
Best off-road vehicle?? That goes to the wrangler.
@@Kferler that's funny you should do stand-up comedy best off-roader is probably the Mercedes unimog if you don't know what that is Google it
@@redryder1146 Thank you, but I would be the Amy Schumer of comedy because I stole that quote from many different sources.
Absolutely brilliant decision! A lift and some 35 inch BFGs wud be awesome!
35" on the 200 series would take some work (unlikely they would want to cut up a $27,000 vehicle) very few people are running that big of a tire even with a lift most are running 34"
lockers before lift kits. No really, go look at some four wheel drive fails videos and have a look at how many bogged, lifted vehicles you can see. Number one mod for people who don't know crap from crayolas is a lift kit. Don't be that guy.
@@Noises ya I agree, some ARB lockers front and rear wud be really good as well! 4 tires spinning is always better!
@@rejoicerone3176 Would not "wud"
Toyota is gay...
Glad you bought this, it’s really cool, all the stuff you buy will help your channel grow more, love this
I love it , guys! Tks for the video and those who will come!
What!U guys have just bought a freaking legend!
Land Cruiser king👑
Land King
The Land Cruiser 75 series is the real overlanding and off road icon. Unfortunately, and for no other reason than to be different, the American market has vehicles specifically made for your tastes. You have missed out on Hilux, 75 series, Prado etc and have softer versions of these vehicles instead. It’s a shame because the US does a great after market and could really make the 75 even better. Great to see you purchased a Land Cruiser and looking forward to seeing the mods and off road videos! 👍
The 75 is a true land cruiser, this 200 is bloated.
75 has underpowered engine, bad articulation, rear axel have smaller track wide than front and that makes it bad to drive on mud or deep sand... 200 series got the best treatment by toyota, development was going for 5 years when other models got only 2.5 years....
Well now nothing will break, and you’re about to be comfortable doing questionable things.
With the exception of the water pump, which was the weak point on the 5.7 L 3UR-FE
And the Starter and the cam towers had a leaking problem
Only CV joints
140K on mine the only weak link so far was the radiator changed under warranty, and I heard the starter would be the next so I have the newest version starter sitting on the shelf :)
@@larrylandry6160 Really? what happened to the rad, so far not problems with mine.
Damn Roman big pimpin!!!!! I know your spending alot this year for content sake... I hope it pays off you guys have the best channel on KZhead!!
Beautiful, just Beautiful ! Thank you !
You have finally bought the right vehicle keep up doing a series on this and you will have a great experience. I think it is great when the father and son are doing this together you guys should go all over the country with this vehicle tackling different four wheel challenges you will have the time of your life together.
Finally a Toyota, nice to see quality finally make it in the fleet. “Grey Sherpa” “Toyo Sherpa”
I'm thrilled to see you guys bought a land cruiser! Please do the loveland gauntlet and as many off road videos as possible!
1 year later - video is still fantastic... Thank you
Great choice! I look forward to following future updates on this vehicle. You guys always review the vehicles that the majority of Americans are interested in. Thanks guys 👍
Land Cruisers are beasts. You cant stop these.
Always my favorite when these two are together -- super pumped for this series!
at almost 150k miles other brands would be out of commission already *cough european suvs cough
Lmao!!! That's totally up to the owner. Maintaining is a must for long life. My gmc envoy with 210k still runs like new.
A friend sold his old Range Rover Vogue after 13 Years with 375000 Km. He bought the 2017 Range Rover now. It is his third Rover. I bought mine with TDV8 with 142000km three years ago. Made 40 000 km no issues so far .Maintainance is all !
150k km's is considered a break-in period for a Land Cruiser.
@@normt5463 actually my envoy has an oil life monitor. But I think it works by miles driven. But yea I'm hoping to keep it forever. Cheap to buy , cheap to own , awesome 4wd.
My "frompy" (they called it) 100 series 02 Landcruiser has 320k miles and still strong!! All regular service at Toyota.
The best vehicles on Earth. Welcome to the club and enjoy.
Love it. I've been a Nissan fanboy since I was a kid. Traded my 2018 Altima SR for the new 2018 Camry SE because of a cvt jerk. Love the quality and build of the Toyota. Toyota is king!
I’m now a full time subscriber The LandBruiser!!!😀
Excited you started this build. I just sold my '14 2dr lifted willy wheeler and bought an 04 LX470. Wanted no car payment, something w. Off road capability, reliability and practicality.
Great addition, and great video. Too bad that Nathan couldn't join you guys on GM Hill for this one.
As I'm in the market for a 200 in this color you guys get this!! Awesome and beautiful 200 series, I've been watching this channel since 2014 and you guys get better each year.
I have 100 $6500
Nice! First things first, a nice set of off-road shoes!
Awesome!! Very exciting guys! So happy you bought a Land Cruiser. Can't wait to see more!
Holy crap!! You guys are positively LOVING this purchase!!!!! Tommy, you’ll be giving this to YOUR kids. Wow. I’m STOKED for you all. You won’t believe how get she is off-road. I think you guys should call her Boulder. That’s where she’s from, she’s sort of a “boulder/granite” color, and she’s actually solid as a rock, unlike another brand that claims to be.
Best purchase. Lacey the LC. Lol. Love tfl, can we pleaseeeee have a Denver meetup?!?!
Best choice you guys have ever made!! It's cool you were looking for the 80 series first. At least you tried. Make a couple videos of this Land Cruiser every week!
I can’t wait for the next video on this project rig!!! I have an 80 series and would like to get an early 200 series so I’m excited to watch! 👍😊
Incredible video. I love the truck and the dynamic between Roman and Tommy
Toyota Should have called it LAND BRUISER !
Drive a land cruiser,drive a legend
Awesome choice! Looking forward to lots of videos on this beast! First job: tyres. Second job: rear locker!
My current desire. Glad to see it can really handle bad conditions. I need a truck that can make it through a blizzard. Love the idea of crawl control going down slick hills. Keep the videos coming!
Outstanding!!
Toyota 4runner would have been cool too
Nah, it wouldnt have been as cool as an LC. 4runner is lame when compared to the LC. Not even close
I prefer my 4 runner over my land cruiser. A real transfer case is a must and less tech.
I prefer 4runner becuase I can actually afford it.
@@harvbegal6868 i agree. But a land cruiser is another level of strength
@@harvbegal6868 The 4Runner has 6 lug wheels.
always love your videos guys!
Epic video, you guys have me back on board with this purchase.
"You wanna take the Land Rover as a recovery rig?" That's cute.
I’ve got a 2014. Great choice guys!
Congratulations on the purchase! It's a doozy. I look forward to your Cruiser segments in the new year.
Congrats on the car, it's beautiful! I'm glad it's working out for you guys. Were you guys at one point or another considering an FJ Cruiser?
We had a GX470 ("baby" Land Cruiser Prado overseas) and absolutely loved it. One tip -- to add Bluetooth music, we used the vaistech SL3b-L. Toyota version for you should be SL3b-T. We kept factory bluetooth phone, then the SL3b for music - worked great! (I'm not a employee of theirs or anything :)) Unfortunately we had to sell our GX to switch over to a truck to tow a Fifth Wheel (full time RV travel!) otherwise we would have definitely kept the GX!! Enjoy your Land Cruiser!!
Baby land cruiser? The prado is normal sized. the 200 is looked down on by overlanders for being oversized and bloated with features.
Nice an off roader that won't let you guys down
That's awesome I'm so pumped that you finally got a Land Cruiser! Can't wait for more videos!!!
9:06 the power 2nd button is for either power minded shift schedule or starting off in 2nd gear to reduce torque for delicate situations. It doesn’t start off in 2nd gear for power.
YOU FINALLY GOT A LAND CRUISER!!!
That may be the first time ever that it was taken off road since new .... Now take the Outback on the same route to compare.
Toyota is subaru! They are working together.
@@Larant88 Toyota is not Subaru just because they're collaborating on a car or two does not make Toyota Subaru or Subaru Toyota
Congrats for purchasing my dream truck. Can't wait to watch more videos of it.
I just bought a 2018. The transmission has been upgraded to an 8 speed. Love the vehicle. Can't wait for more on this iconic vehicle
I don't want be that guy but you should have bought an 80 series. Solid front and rear axle. Locking front and rear axle. Coils all around. Big diesel engine. It's the perfect vehicle It is hard to find a mint one though.
Didn't know they came with diesels. My cousin in law had bought one with an inline 6. I wanted it Then, he put smaller front tires and broke the front end. Didn't realize it was all time 4x4 he said. And once his daughter started driving it she was in an accident and it got T-Boned... I don't think it ever got to see dirt...
Diesels are a lot harder to find in the states. Also as they stated, it's getting hard to buy an 80 series or older for a good price due to the fact that hipsters are driving prices up as they are now have that "vintage cool factor".
@@92ASC Outdated interior but it was kept together. I liked the inline 6 because of the room to work on the engine. I'm just glad they got a Landcruiser I half expected a Toyota 4runner.
Juan Gonzalez Actually diesel is the standard for these vehicles. They put the tundra engine for the US market and is also available in other countries too. In my country you can have three options, 4,2 in line 6 turbo diesel, 4,5 V8 twin turbo diesel (more than 600 nm torque) and the 5.7 v8 gas engine.
@@ralphramirez3671 Everything is underpowered for americans ;) The diesel with or without mods are great for offroading. Watch 4wd action.
YES! YES! The all mighty Land Cruiser!
Great video. Tommy is becoming the best reviewer on this channel. I have watched him grow. Roman you should be proud.
Great video, guys! I like the suggestion for "Land Bruiser". Have fun!
Call him Yoda! The name Toyota is actually modified from the original creator of the company. His actual last name is Toyoda! Plus, Yoda is an iconic character around the world. Win win :)
Yoda, good one!
Post2Post every Toyota is generally called Yoda where I’m from.
How about Yoboma
yes. Numerology said if they change the D to a T then they will be great success. Crazy, huh?
Yeah. and LandCruiser also can do Some Magic too
Toyota is the best
Girish Ghoorah best at underperforming
@@danr3545 Is it better to underperform and not break down or to overperform and break down every so often?
Dan R LMAO this isn’t for performance dumbass. Still the best off-roader without all the yada gimmicks
Other than being great off-road, nothing Toyota makes is interesting. Their cars are boring as hell, and the trucks ride and handle like shit. Only thing going for them is reliability, if you want to drive a boring boat for 300k miles.
Great! Plsss doo. more test with the landcruiser and comparisons with other trucks so excited !
Congratulations for the new rig
Love you videos.
You should name the rig “Tom Cruiser”.
Awesome purchase. My parents had a 100 series they bought new in 2000, super comfortable vehicle, very solid.
It’s about time!! Thank god!! Welcome to the Toyota Family!!
Call it "TFLCruiser" that's it boys, there is the name for the new rig. Then you can create your content based on the name. It's genius. You're welcome. I now should be a guest of honor on one of your shows, you can test drive my WK2 Diesel :) Just saying. Love your rig boys.
I’m highly interested in this series...I want to know why the land cruiser is so capable!
Simple, Toyota does what (to my knowledge) no one else does. They do everything in their power to break/abuse/destroy a product before they release it to the public. I used to know a Toyota engineer back in the day when I was living in Japan, He told me the companies single goal is to have the best QDR (Quality,Durability,Reliability) in the world. That's all that's important. Build something that lasts 25 years minimum with regular maintenance. Everything they make is overbuilt and incredibly reliable. The Land Cruiser will save your life if your in the middle of no where.
Yes yes yes wrap great reminds me of the limited v8 they did. Off road loved too a bit of passion even in going up the hill. Great vid guys.
Looking forward to the series
The all mighty land cruiser...all mighty...how about you name it Zeus
Or Jesus!! Lcc
I think you should call it MIGHTY GREY
50 Shades of Mighty Grey
50 Shades of Play
Gandalf the Grey.
@@petertyrell9699 great name

Nice rig! I'm sure you guys will get some great adventure videos out of it.
TfL is loaded 💰 💰
"Relatively low mileage...145000"...lmao...hats off to lc
I'm so glad you guys are doing one of these. I've been thinking of getting rid of my JK for one for months now.
My parents bought a Land Cruiser in 1992. I bought it from them in 2005. Having made a few modifications for remote travel (a pop top roof and an auxiliary fuel tank doubling its range), I still, 26 years later, and with 235K miles, use it regularly for travel deep into Mexico and parts of the West that are several hours from services. It is so well built, so reliable, and so capable that, even at 26 years old, I literally would not hesitate to drive that truck to Tierra del Fuego tomorrow. The only vehicle I've driven that feels as sturdy, well built, and capable is a G-wagen. For remote travel, the 200 will require an auxiliary fuel tank; it's poor range continues to be the Land Cruiser's single fatal fault -- at least the gas versions sold in the U.S. -- as a remote travel vehicle.
This was a great choice to set the bar
E C lol “set the bar.” You’re crazy. Toyota May have so called “reliability” but performance wise it underperforms Jeeps and other domestics regularly
Dan R lol, you’re claiming a Jeep outperforms a Land Cruiser lololol
Evan Ferguson Jeep is the most capable offroad truck of all time. Everyone knows that.

Ole’ Reliable
I have the crawl control in my 2018 off road 4runner. I would say speed 1 for sure (maybe even 2) is only for very steep downhills and takes you down slower than low range 1st. It's like 1 is designed to fight gravity, therefore over thinks anything up hill or level and you get that jerking...Up hill I would use speed 2 minimum and most likely 3 to get a nice smooth motion. Looking forward to the series guys!! Are you putting some goodies on it?
I would name it Hercules. I enjoy watching the videos from your channel. Keep it up. 👍👍👍
This is basically the best car made! But dodge and ford guys dont like it and are jealous

I'm a ford guy. I'm not jealous. I just like American cars better. We all have different opinions and that's perfectly ok.

The best name for land cruiser is LAND CRUISER
Jeeps and Toyota’s, I truly love this channel! I’ve seen Tommy over at Leeds on and off quite often. Let’s go off roading soon guys? My 1999 4Runner Sport would look good alongside that Land Cruiser
