The term whistleblower can be defined as a person who informs on a person or organization regarded as engaging in an unlawful or immoral activity. One of the most prolific whistleblowing cases came through American national Edward Snowden released information on the United States government conducting mass surveillance on the nation. In this episode of Xplained we take a look at these incidents which made Snowden America’s most wanted person.

    • It's really upsetting to see people who fume over him "becoming a Russian citizen" as something that's wrong. He sacrificed so many of his years contributing to service. Now he has a family, so let him live. Yeah he said he "would do anything". But one must understand that now he has children, he has other commitments. Not everybody has to be on the frontline.

    • @@fisrael Correction: He's just USA's most-wanted as the NSA is an intelligence arm of the USA's hybrid forces, bridging the gap between the US government and CIA as far as necessary intelligence findings are concerned. They're still considered as being under the US government's employ, whether as a contract intelligence officer or as an internal hire. That's just the basic logistics. It gets more complicated than that once you're in.

  • I was living close to NSA when this happened and was underwhelmed by the details he came out with. I thought everyone assumed that the government was listening to everything. When driving near the NSA, your phone used to make a noise that it never normally made. Like did everyone truly believe that the government wasn’t listening?? Also, yes it might suck but in reality it DOES help protect us.

The fact that the government wants to publicly crucify him is due to the fact he exposed the massive wrongdoing that they never wanted to see in the light of day.
