Yi Long is actually not a Shaolin Monk as they went out of their way to say he wasn't. A spokesman of the Shaolin Temple did a press release pretty much saying he was full of it. That being said I am pretty sure he has been trained in Kungfu, just not by them.
Now the question is, would they admit if he was? While it's far more beneficial to them to keep the mystery factor up.
@@yspegel his techniques does not look like Shaolin kung fu. Actually, his techniques doesnt look like kung fu at all. His posture is almost the same as the muay tai fighters. The other kung fu guy technique was much more like kung fu.
@@yspegel That is a good point considering they are only supposed to use their skills to "Defend the weak" and expeditions wouldn't apply to that. Could see them maybe saying it to save face.
Check out ranton he is a shaolin monk youtuber who said Yi long went to a Chinese kung fu school not the shaolin warrior monks.
Kungfu i have been trained is about sense, speed and power and changing of movement and techniques, however i could not see any of these key philosophical principals in Yi Long.
Yi Long is NOT a Shoalin monk. How do you people even have a job?
Ranton? Based
Thanks bro
Not a monk but he has trained himself in shaolin art.
No, he's not! And he does everything but not kung fu.
@@mihaimihai9254 he is a sanda kungfu user. Sanda is basically kungfu kickboxing
No fighting style is superior, it's the fighter who uses it and how good he "reads" his opponent.
You are right bro
I understand what you're trying to say and half of it is right. But to say one style is not Superior to another would be misleading. The reason there are so many different fighting styles nowadays is because a lot of them are created in order to counter another known type thought to be superior. For example Judo used to be known as one of the greatest martial arts for the longest time, and then in Korea they created hapkido, which is literally a style for defending against Judo.
@@Travis_Stewart5422 you are right
In the list of the 10 Greatest MMA Fighters of All Time by MMA on Point, -8 of the 10 trained in wrestling (only 2 could make the list with no wrestling) -9 of the 10 trained in Muay-Thai (only 1 could make the list with no Muay Thai) -9 of the 10 trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (only 1 could make the list with no BJJ) 7 of the 10 trained in the combination of Muay Thai, BJJ, and wrestling
Wrong. Judo/Wrestling and Muay Thai are proven to be better styles
Yi Long never be Shaolin monk, He was overhyped for marketing purposes. Anyway his iron shin was no joke. He endured twice of Sittichai's head kick . WTH
hye never claimed he was... LOL everyone else asumed simply by his choice of attire...
No elbows and no clinching = no Muay Thai. Seen many gyms who claim to be Muay Thai gyms, but don't practice any elbowing or clinching at which point it's just another half-assed kickboxing gym, just like that match against Buakaw was not a Muay Thai match.
bro shinned yi long and knocked him out tf u mean this isnt muay thai
@@SupernovaeBlast I guess you don't understand then that elbow strikes and clinching are literally part of what defines Muay Thai as a martial art, and they weren't allowed in these matches which basically just makes this kick boxing.
@@TearThatRedFlagDown bro tf if he elbowed then the tendency of the opponent is do bring him down or kick him
@@SupernovaeBlast 1: Absolutely wrong, you've definitely never been in a fight before nor trained in Muay Thai. If someone is in range to throw elbows you don't have space to kick and about "bring him down" wtf do you think clinching even is? 2: Not the point, the point is that two key features that define Muay Thai as a martial art were banned from being used in these matches, therefore it's not Muay Thai. If kicks weren't allowed in a match then you wouldn't call that a kickboxing match either, would you?
What an amazing AI video using fight clips from others. Outstanding quality.
Yi Long use the Shaolin Monk appearance as a gimmick, like in the WWE. No Kung Fu seen, more bad kick boxing.
its not kung fu. They have boxing gloves on and anti kung fu rules.
What do you mean by anti-kungfu rules?
@@DanMoridin no hand techniques for one because gloves. no death touch, no iron palm because gloves, gloves inhibit a lot of what Kung Fu is, no striking temples, throat, eyes, groin. etc
@@floridaeagle Aw I forgot about the "death touch" You have been watching too many movies.
@@floridaeagle That kind of Bullshido is why xu xiaodong became so popular.
They blocked Maui Thai no elbows no clinches....
Whoever has more training and experience in full contact combat sports
Kung fu and muay Thai have competition many many years ago. My dad told me the story and even without the gloves and supposedly anti-kung fu rules muay Thai was still dominant. Read up on the lacy brothers choi la fut was one of the few kung fu styles to actually do well
Two things 1. Everyone is different, meaning everyone can develop differently in the same martial art. 2. They're in a controlled setting (sports ring with rules)
Buakaw did a showfight. Even in Sparring or Training he kicks and punches 1000 times harder
5:06 for a very good JKD straight lead based punch. well executed!
The flag on the ref's sleeve is enough to know the winner lmao.
Kung-fu is not designed for ring tournaments
yeah its made for pandas
Neither is Muay Boran, which is what Muay Thai originated from.
@@hellzonefirebrigade3056 not talking about originated.... Muay Thai is catered for sports/demo that's why it was made.
@vikaskyatannawar8417 not entirely. It IS indeed mainly centered around entertainment, HOWEVER, that doesn't change the fact that there are techniques taught in Mauy Thai as well that aren't allowed in the fights because of how dangerous they are. While Muay Thai may not have as many rules as UFC, the rules do still exist and prohibit the more dangerous techniques. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean that those fighters aren't practicing them.
As a kung fu loser myself I don’t want to admit to anything but Muay Thai has elbows and whatnot too along with other illegal moves so the argument is a bit moot there…. Although kung-fu has a lot of lower body blows and techniques that are restricted by gloves.. so does every other full contact martial art… so.. the difference is that kung fu is not tuned to sport specifically… except for Sanda which is… so.. a loss is a loss accept it and get better
They want it to be Muay Thai vs Fung fu, but they never allow Muay Thai to use elbows or clinchings.. Been that way since forever, and not just China/Kung-Fu who did that with Muay Thai.. just to proof a point
They all know how to fight so this is entertaining
Yi Long is not a Shaolin monk and is not even using any kung fu.
Kung fu tournaments is kickbox rule😂😂😂😂
@@BollywoodyoyoNope, in Kung Fu tournaments you can use throws and get points for this.
@@Tazio25 not throw only sweep no low kick 😂😂😂

@williel1573 Backatcha. Sanda may technically be kung fu, if you insist on broadening the definition to include anything from China, but it's not Shaolin, instead is closer to real combat sports such as Muay Thai. When the Shaolin Temple itself has issued a public statement disavowing this man, and you're still defending him, it isn't me who knows nothing of Chinese martial arts. Your man, Bruce Lee, agreed that the traditional Eastern arts were useless without a new philosophy to guide them. The Ultimate Fighting Competition (UFC) has been going for decades. If you have people who can win, bring them. Talk is cheap. 🤷♂️
this kung fu is weak as the real kung fu master to fight in a right in close combat there is 3 fundamental in that fight which i dont see Yi Long using
Bring these fights to North America, and everyone will be wearing gold and diamonds. PPV = 100s of millions of dollars 💸 💵 💲
為什麼我看到這個光頭打拳很想笑🤣
Muay Thai is no fucking joke. I once was sparring with someone in training, and I accidentally kicked to high. The snap was just perfect to instantly nock him out. Granted, he was doing illegal moves, I should have payed much more attention
Apparently they are performing just like WWE.
The problem is the Kung Fu guy is trained to strike the groin, throat, eyes knee caps etc. - The rules inhibit him from using his real arsenal.
The problem is the more Kung Fu you use the faster you lose. He's fighting as a kick boxer. Both men are similarly inhibited by the rules. Basically, Get Good Noob.
@@chasecarter8848you know kung fu is trained to kill right? Not just to fight…
What if you are trained in the use of firearms? Not being able to bring one into the ring is unfair to me.

Hes not a monk and thats not kungfu
To me I respect any kinds of martial arts or fight, I am sure there are no such thing as KungFu or Muway Thai or whatever, it is pretty much depending on the person who use it with intelligence.
j'avais jamais vi Yi Lung KO ! Par contre je l'ai vu tendre sa tête pour encaisser plusieurs coups de poing et rester debout !!!
Yi Long tried to defeat Muay Thai fighters using whatever methods he believed would work, except for Kung Fu.
It seems that none from China has yet to rival Yi Long in kick boxing even today. The guy is really tough.
Sanda is basically MMA but it's a Chinese version. IT'S NOT A KUNG FU.
That was definitely not kung fu. I don't even know what it was 😂
Seems to me that the one thing Shaolin monks have on their side is superior conditioning and stamina. The technique may look exotic, but we all know that most real fights are nothing more than some combination of boxing and wrestling. So, yes, my respect goes to the Shaolin monks, but not for the reasons most people would think…
Let's have a Kung fu vs Muay Thai fight. By the way, you can't do Muay Thai things.
I would say that a UFC style format would give us a much better look at which is more effective. While kickboxing rules take away clinches and elbows, it is a much closer format to Thai fighting than Kung Fu.
The problem with these types of bouts is they're relying too heavily on their "style" instead of their bread and butter, which is instinct and aggression. Heavy hitters win because they Don't* allow their opponents time to think, let alone defend. fighting reactive is a recipe for a loss. Get in there, control the tempo and don't give them time to set something up.
Buakaw, senchi, superlec, and rotang all legends..sorry i spelt some wrong..i am too lazy to check them properly 😂😂
Like most things Chinese they cannot admit defeat for fear of losing face. Even if they lost. In the Buakaw fight No third fight to settle once and for all. Why? Chinese are scared their best will get knocked out by Muay Thai. When they will be forced to admit defeat. The fight experts and fans worldwide know the real score as 2 - 0 to Muay Thai according to the fight video. Except for the biased Chinese judges. It seems the only defeat that China will accept is if their fighter loses by knockout. It would be good for the Mix fight organizers to take note. To not allow judges to judge a fight against their own nationals or origin. So there can be no bias by any nation. This would go a long way in improving the integrity, honor and dignity of martial arts across the globe. Which is currently being spoiled a few bad apple nations.
Yeah that was absolute bullshit, they even made a rule to stop Buakaw from dropping elbows, the ref was 100% paid off and the entire event was a fraud. China may not be the best at martial arts but they do have a lot of money.
Qi lala has trained many different martial arts and claim's badi juan as he's main style not Shaolin wushu but has also trained sanda and been in several kickboxing fights which made him adjust to training kickboxing in the time up to the figth.. you can follow him on Jerry's channel fight breakdown commentary or other way around same same
This is insane for kingfisher Cz in this match the muthai kick and icing only alllw tondo kunhfu punch and kick not allowed to use
It's the man, not the weapon.
Captivating.
Yi Long become Yi Lie 😂
yet he never said he was shaolin LOL
Any form of fighting technique are only good in ring or arena ... In real life situation it will never work ...
It depends on the person not the art style 💪
the organizer wins.
Shaolin never consider him as monk he totally living like celebrity promote himself and do business 😂 dude just dress as monk for attention.
here we see depicted in ancient pictures and scripture the monks of Shaolin fighting the Warriors of Wu Dang….. with boxing gloves and pads on their feet
I thought these chinese arts guys did horse stance.... Why their kicks so weak? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Một mình Yi Long đấu với Muay Thai. Thật đáng khâm phục Yi Long.
So Yi Long's 1:3 overall vs Muay Thai, 0:3 versus actual Thai masters.
Garbage click bait. This entire video should be 3 to 4 minutes way too much fill in here. There is not anywhere near nine minutes worth of content.
Any martial art can become great when practiced well with sparring trainings. The big controversies around the world is too biased and not based on scientific methods of judgement
Kung fools vs Muay Thai, the "fools" can never play by Muay Thai rules.
It sounds good to say that “the style doesn’t matter, it’s up to the individual“, as I used to say so myself when I was younger. But that isn’t true; styles do matter. A style born out of sparring and competition, proving itself in situations that mimic combat realistically are always going to be better than styles that are created in Mcdojos by people too lazy and afraid to get hit. KZhead is filled with “grandmasters” getting their asses kicked by low to medium level Kickboxers or MMA players. It is ridiculous to watch, these guys actually believed their own hype! You can see their shock the moment they get hit in the face. Most martial arts have been scams run on people to make money off people and to aggrandize the ego of the supposed masters.
problem is the Shaolin monk isn't even using kung fu
All is Kung fu.
@@darkness1602 ah all I see is no form street fighting
He is using Sanda kungfu or Sanshou
News with Guts 😮
He isn't a Kung Fu master at all, and even if he was, Kung Fu does not use gloves, it isn't a sport. The only fair comparison would be a real fight with bare hands.
I think that's the problem.....the muay Tai fighter is using his training and style. The so called shaolin fighters are not even using their kung-fu. This is why they lose. Kung fu fighters seem to forget their training when it comes to the ring.......it's sad that a legendary style is embarrassed.
They are 2 different styles and you can never compare them. Respect for these 2 legends, they have been training all their lives, respect them. Because of them you had a fantastic night.
Yilong Ma?
The shaolin can't use the most of shaolin stuff.. with gloves and this rules ... Muay Thai fighters ... can use her full repertoire of skills. This is not fair is like 60 kg vs 100 kg. /120pounds vs. 200pounds.. fighter
Muay Thai is the most effective fighting style in the world!💪🏼
Cough cough Silat stomps
no one style is better than the other it is the person who practices it
No, there are styles that are objectively more effective than others. Aikido is pretty much useless for fighting. But I do think that styles can take principles and techniques from another to become a more complete style.
Salute muay thai, yi long lucky not dead, its a hard kick and punch, last scene more accurate kick to yi long face, but he manage to survive, credit to yi long also..😅 my advice to yi long, never give your face to muay thai fighter again..
Yeah he was'nt a shaolin monk. But nice try
i saw very little kung fu
Yi Long learned Shaolin GongFu,it doesn't means he is Shaolin 👨🦲monk.
kung fu is still way better.
I wonder if these fighters self appointed or they similarly won many real full contact championship in their style? Kung Fu is a collection of many styles and probably lots of them are fake, uneffective. Are there pro Kung Fu tournaments similarly to the Muay Thai?
Buakaw is hardly using any real power. He would eventually brake monks shin after several kicks. Kung fu is just fancy art/style and not for real fights/street fights but muy Thai is
It seems kung fu is more sizzle than it is steak.
There is one known good kung fu fighter and like one thousand muy thai
Where is Kung Fu? They play with kick and box. Is like I train for math examination and do another test. If I've the skill the knowledge i can pass It. When the Shaolin master won didn't won the Kung Fu won his instinct of survival technique. He was like water in the recipient he use flexibility he modify his technique to survive. He choose the best technique to survive in the match. Somebody see something different from Kick boxing or muay Thai? Sometime during his defence was afraid to get the punch was not ready to get it was surprised i see a not sure defence.
Seperti nya kungfu sholin tak berkutik sama Muay Thai , beladiri terbaik munkin jatuh pada Muay Thai
这是少林寺出来的?
เส้าหลินเศร้าจริงๆ
What I see is that no matter what the training, they all turn into kickboxers in the ring. I also notice that none of them could beat a good MMA fighter. They all lack the balance for infighting and they have no dirty boxing skills. On the ground they would all be choked out in seconds. You can keep all your fancy dance moves and pretend fighting. There's no room for such nonsense in a bar fight.
I think he should meditate…not fight 😢
Yi Long is nothing more than a show monk. Hes a disrespect to the true shoalin monks
Kung Fu won't work... Maybe if someone creates something like how muay thai is created for in ring performance.
Awesome. Kung Fu is not good fighting art at ll
Kung Fu ? Where ❔❔❔😂

Chinese athletes rarely show good sportsmanship.
talks about milking the audiences... geeze
But this "monk" is just using Muay Thai himself. There's no "tiger claw" or "praying mantis" here. It's just "sanda" the Chinese name for Muay Thai style fighting: kicking and punching with boxing gloves. It's not as great as MMA because there is no ground fighting at all. Everything stops the minute a guy hits the floor and they let him stand up without the guy continuuing to pound him. There is no "legendary" fighting techniques here at all. Just Muay Thai on both sides.
