Rare Cannon Lighter Restoration
Rare cannon lighter restoration. This time I do a restoration video of a very cool cannon lighter that was sent to me to restore and repair.
The cannon lighter seems very authentic and was in a really bad condition. There was rust and the metal was very thin with a big hole I had to repair.
The lighter part was stuck, old and in a bad condition. Luckily for the project and me, the gas container, gas valves and sealings was in an OK condition and still worked fine after some minor repairs.
There was no inscription, soldier or brand name on the lighter, so If you know anything about Vietnam war lighters, please leave a comment below. I really like to know more about this. Thanks.
I enjoyed doing this restoration video and this I my third time doing a war lighter restoration - Beautiful experience. Sorry that I added chrome wheel to the lighter. Please forgive me for that it didn't turn out as expected 😉
This cannon ended up way more beautiful than I expected. And I even left some old patina behind. And you know what. I’m allowed to keep this lighter after this restoration. So, it’s a keeper. Not for sale!!
Please subscribe if you want to see more cool upcoming restoration projects 🙂

Thanks for watching my videos. See you next week.

In this video I restore very rare Vietnam war lighter that was sent to me to repair. Please leave your thoughts and comment below ⬇️ DON'T FORGET TO WATCH MY OTHER VIETNAM WAR LIGHTER RESTORATION: kzhead.info/sun/rcmHmMyio2ufkmg/bejne.html Have a very nice day - WAR IS BAD - MAKE LOVE NOT WAR! 👌❤❣❤
Its sad that there are wars still going on today. Its the people who go to war that pay for it, not the government. The governments just make people fight for them and I hate it.
Awesome Restorations as already cool. From Ukraine with love
Hi Martin, are you open for collaborations? Could you please share your email id?
Was für gepfusche, Sekundenkleber anstatt hartgelötet, pulverbeschichtet anstatt echt verchromt...
So if using a sandblasted not a good option? I think it’d get most of the surface rust and crap of very easily
Love the video but I must say there was some beautiful detail on the wheels that was lost with the powder coating.
I agree with you.
Thanks for watching and for sharing your opinion I really appreciate it 👍
I also agree. He should've left it that way. He both covered up the details and the history
Agree would have looked so much better buffed and polished.
I thought that too
It's extremely disappointing that the flame doesn't come out of the barrel.
ha ha. Me too. But it's still very beautiful - thanks for watching :)
how extremely disappointing not to see the wholw video.
I read this comment before I watch the entire video. I'm very disappointed.
And how the f*** would you do that 🤦♂️
Amazing. But I think the wheels lost so much detail during the chrome coating, and they don't fit with the rest of the cannon (look wise).
yeah
I wish you didn’t add chrome on the wheels. Love your work though!
I agree - that was a big mistake ;-)
I still love your work! I watch your vids all the time! 😊
Is it possible to remove that
Dont like the powder coated wheels. Should have just cleaned and polished them
Yeah it looks ugly now
idk man, looks fine to me
I agree, if you’re going to leave the barrel, leave the wheels
All good except wheels powder coating
Yes this project is not the yellow of the egg. Looks cringe.
I could not continue to watch after the powder coating of the wheels.
I feel that way during most of his restorations - I guess that’s his business but he takes all the history & patina away - I use products on decorative items to make them look rusted - LOL - I love rust -
I’ll tell you what: this looks so much fun recreating a part of history! I would love to start doing this! It seems very relaxing and what a rush when it’s complete!
And I love finding treasures that show their age & leave them exactly that way ! To each their own, right ! 😊
KZhead has weird ways of recommendation but hey I appreciate it
Thanks for watching and I'm really glad that you appreciate it 👍👌
Well I can Honestly say I totally missed this the 1st time around. When I started seeing the Detailing on this as you were cleaning I was blown away. This just really is so Cool. Thanks for Sharing.
Ive been really enjoying watching these videos, the different techniques used are amazing, the precision and careful handling is especially impressive. But what also makes the videos amazing is the editing and filming. The close up shots, shallow depth of field, the pulling focus, and rich colours of the detail makes these so immersive. Well done to all. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks for watching and for your kind words I really appreciate it 😉👍 ❤

RIP all the intricate detailing on those wheels =(
Amazing job!!! I have family and friends that served in that war. Most of them have PTSD. War is bad, I definitely agree.
Thanks Rick - yes PTSD is unfortunately really common among veterans :(
I'm sorry for your friends and family... I wish they would stop making people fight
Sadly that's impossible! what they can do is take better care of their veterans.
My uncle served during Vietnam! My respects to them

I find it amazing how many of these items that are restored have no damage to the metals. It seems that the corosion and rust does nothing to the metals at all. Very strange but yet they do end up very well done.
Its because they are artificially 'damaged'
I worry every time you go over one detail after another. This is very inspiring! What You do is beyond praise and admiration! 😍😍😍😍
Nice of them to send the easily removable dirt too.
ha ha ... yes very kind of them... Sadly I had to spend 1-2 hours applying it to the lighter before i did the video :/ ...
Yes wy you would send it with dirt you clean it first then you send it he puts the object in the ground for 2 or 3 weeks or more then he digs it up.and then he restores the object so he lies about that somebody send it to him
I was amazed at the knowledge about Viet Nam war. I love it and I love u 3000 from Viet Nam. War is the worst thing - Make peace.

Did Americans say sorry for destroying your country, for Agent Orange, for murdering your people?
@@McSymm_Mcsymm The US has denied responsibility to infected victims. But the US paid Vietnam 6 million USD to remedy the consequences in 2009. That it all i know.

thank you very much
Dude, you have my respect for the patient
Thank you - I took me a week 😬😉
He looks like when he restore an actual old cannon not a lighter
It's so cool to see these items from many places!
Wow! This lighter is a beauty. Amazing work.
Putin = 💩
This is awesome!! I must say though i think the details on the wheels got a little washed out after the chrome coating..its really pretty though Keep it up..and these old lighters really are very unique. Yeah, war is bad..peace
Thanks for watching and for your kind words I really appreciate it 👍 and yes ... I can see that - to much powder from the coating gun this time ... sorry 😬😉👌
thank you so much Juliana - obrigado 😊❤
Me: okay one video more than going sleep...2 hours later still watching...🙃
It still had the green colored stuff on it. No sand blasting?
Nice job, shame about the loss of detail from powder coating, perhaps for finer details an airbrush would help with acrylic water based paint such as Tamiya? i use that stuff. Alternatively you van use finer powders for small details apparently, but i havent managed to find any as yet. Great job overall though.
Wow loved watching this one, its amazing how good you get them looking. Keep up great work. I know I'm late to these videos but just found you few days ago and slowly watching them all. That polish wheel really made that thing shine. I also like how it looks like you have fun while working. Very entertaining to watch such amazing work.
Thanks so much!
I feel so good when do out the parts
More incredible than that is: Who did this piece?

They must have been well pleased. It reminds me of that cannon in the movie The Pride and the Passion Cary Grant, Sophia Loren, so I dug out my DVD and watched it! Good film!

Thanks for watching and for your kind words - I just improvise on the go. I liked the green color on this 😉

Sensacional excelente restauraçao
It’s great! But I just don’t like how the wheels ended up. I liked them more when they had that brass, bronze and matt color. For it, that adds more texture to my eyes. Overall, it was good and great restoration as always. Please keep making more restoration! It’s so satisfying!
Belle restauration ! Oui , la guerre n'est pas bien ! Et elle ne serre à rien !!!! Beautiful restoration ! Yes, the war is not good ! And she does not want anything ! Pray for Hong Kong !!!
Thanks for watching and for your kind words I really appreciate it 👍
I love your vids, but why do most of the things you restore seem wet before you start? Do you soak them beforehand?
Thanks for watching - No it's this one is absolutely dry. But sometimes it test "how hard it this stuck" conditions with a little WD 40 before the video is made :)
I just love how he carefully removes every part , like it's a freakin bomb disassembly😂😂 , also love your videos man , they are truely 'awesome'
thank you very much
Wish I could do awesome things like this, it looks like so much fun!

War is stupid! Thank you for understanding that. It makes us lose everything and no one is the winner. fortunately after more than 40 years, we have left the past to a better future! From Sai Gon - Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam💌🇻🇳
Thanks for watching and for your kind words I really appreciate it 😉👍
Pham Nhat. I went to Vietnam 2005, 2006 and 2009. My daughter is part Vietnamese. In 2005 I went to the Vietnam museum Saigon what the people like calling is opposed to Ho Chi Minh. I saw a Vietnamese soldier on display. It really brings home the unnecessary impact of lives lost at the hands of the very few. Many people don't know not only Americans also Australians held a protest in I think Brisbane to end the Vietnam war. And so pressure built up to actually stop a war they didn't want to end.
Unbelievable how it turned out. Just perfect! Thanks for a job well done…
Thank you! Cheers!
Ja me inscrevi no seu canal... E estou maravilhada com suas restaurações... 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🥰
The old greenish red rust on the canon doesn't look well with the gold ligter and chrome wheels
Yes Alice Wong - its beautiful 👌 Thanks for watching 👍
@@AwesomeRestorations Should have polished it and not plated the wheels.

The lack of an audio script simply adds to the effectiveness of your description of what is happening. Genius and addictive. Thank you.

It's been a couple of weeks watchin you're videos, honestly saying, I've become a fan of your work sir !!
I appreciate that!
Lovely work - but I don’t think powder coating the wheels was worth it - you lost all the fine detailing and they look out of place with the rest of the cannon.
Lol I just watch these videos for the brushing and sanding parts 💀
Thanks for watching 👌

This lighter is so decorative. I'm never though that some lighters would looks like this one. 0:35 Ow no! :( 0:47 Ow no second time.
I thought it was a real life one, not a miniature 🥺 Silly me 😅
I thought so too looking at the thumbnail 😄
You do it great I love it But I still want you to patch a perfect piece of copper instead of a patch of copper
Thanks for watching 👌 Yes I did actually think about it - But the bottom was soo thin, there was nothing to work with. 😉👌
I wish you could’ve also improved the canon 💕
I'm Vietnamese and I find you very professional and methodical in restoring products. Wish you always success and good health.
many thanks you are very kind :)
I really like your jobs 😎😁
Thanks Gabriel - glad that you liked it 😀
Man you gotta get a dremel so you can smooth away casting parts and really polish hard to reach places. Its fun
You should sue the universe because the fire doesn't come out of the cannon
😂
