i dont get why people hate on the hela episode. Maybe a bit rushed, but i think it captured her arc, and all character in it, very well. In the end all what if episodes were too fast paced. If they extended them, even by just 5 minutes, it could help a lot.
Part of the pacing problem is because this season's episodes have a shorter runtime compared to last season. Season one's longest episode were 38 minutes their shortest was 32 minutes, Season two however their longest episodes were 34 minutes and the shortest was 29 minutes, so yeah your right just a faster runtime would've helped especially for this season
Maybe it’s because no one asked for it. We could’ve had an episode where Iron Man fought Wenwu since Iron Man 4 doesn’t exist.

I remember watching "What If Ultron Won?". That was one scary version of Ultron and what he did to multiverses with no remorse whatsoever.
Honestly I don’t think any episode of this season was bad. The finale was pretty average but the rest were at least good to being amazing

I love that line I missed tony glad we got to see more of him that didn’t get killed off right away. Especially with the other avengers celebrating Christmas together felt nice to see the team back for one more ride
I think you forgot that Strange never really resolve his grief. Sure, he helped save the Multiverse along with others but did it cure his grief? He may have seen matured when meeting The Watcher again after fighting with Infinity Ultron, but you can tell that he's hiding it. Nobody would suddenly recover from that trauma of destroying his entire universe. The last time we see him (before the recruitment) was him mourning for the loss of Christine and the destruction of his universe. And the fact he's the only one in his universe watching Killmonger and Zola fighting for the Stones must've made his grief manifested because he was truly alone, resolving him in resurrecting his universe. So I don't know if anyone will agree, but Strange Supreme wasn't out of character. I always suspect that something is going on with him back in the first season because, realistically, who on Earth would recover mentally after realizing you're the cause of the destruction of your own universe due to your own selfish reason. It's understandable why he wanted to bring it back to make up for what he did in the first place. And with nobody to comfort him because... well... everyone died in his universe, it makes sense why he went cray cray again. Also, his line in the last season with "what are friends for" or something was already suspicious as hell. I don't know why nobody pointed out that fact. The finale was 8.5/10. Not because of the cameo fanfest, but because of Strange Supreme's story and giving his universe another chance in life without him in it. Kahhori and Captain Carter were unable to truly beat him, even with various weapons like the Infinity Stones. The reason why he was defeated because he didn't want the literal manifestation of his own grief to attack Carter and Kahhori. He defeated himself, concluding what the other half of Strange would've done if he didn't lose. He won and lost at the same time, and his universe was save after destroying it (after sacrificing Universe Killers and some righteous heroes of course).
I applaud you for being able to give the finale some proper context, since even I was a bit iffy on the idea of him seemingly going back to square one. Like, maybe his big plan should have been set up more with little hints in season 2/3 and then pay it off with the season 3 finale, but I enjoyed reading this nonetheless. That said, can you please explain how Captain Carter was able to hold all six Infinity Stones with no side effects? It got pointed out on a forum by someone not arguing in good faith, but now I can't stop thinking about it.
@@StephanGraffeo Well, it was because she was wearing the armor of Infinity Ultron. It was the same way why Killmonger was able to resist the effects of the Infinity Stones. There's also the fact Killmonger had the powers of the Heart-Shaped Herb within him, so it helped resist the effects (it was given by Bast after all). Maybe the Super Soldier Serum is similar because it was powered by the Vita-Ray radiation or something. Maybe Kahhori cast a protective barrier on Captain Carter, hence she doesn't suffer any side effects. Honestly, I could only come up with those as there could be other reason. The writers couldn't have ignore such detail when their details in previous episodes were good and callback to the Sacred Timeline events.
For me, I actually think Strange should’ve been the one who betrayed the other heroes at the end of Season 1’s finale. Not only does it makes sense, considering that he lost his universe, but I feel like grabbing the infinity stones while feeling powerful was something Strange would do (Especially when it’s the evil revenge seeking Strange who has consumed a ton of deadly beings.). So when I saw the big twist where it turns out he was being Injustice Superman, I wasn’t shocked, or surprised, but rather more… satisfied, and disappointed at the same time. It seems like the writers knew that Doctor Strange should’ve been the twist villain at the end of Season 1’s finale, but I feel like they wanted to cap it off so that Michael B. Jordon could get his paycheck and leave the show, so he could be in the Chadwickless 2nd Black Panther movie that came out a year after Season 1 ended. And honestly, the twist should’ve been in Season 1.
I actually thought that he was going to fight Killmonger and also learned from his grief. And also maybe VISIT ANOTHER CHRISTINE AND MAYBE FIND SOME RESOLVE

I completely agree, but I think she's just become the face of what if, so they needed to make her the main character.
is not that I don't like that she was in the finale and in the 1602 episode, as I think she really fit in the latter, but I would have liked that in the finale it wasn't just her and Kahhori, but other characters from across the season, like Nebula from episode 1 and Hulk Hogan and one of the 80s Avengers, Hela and Wen Wu from episode 7, Tony Stark from the Sakaar episode(given that Gamora got to fight in season 1) some interesting interactions could have come out of that team up and make Peggy feel less like the super multiverse savior and more like a leader of a new batch of multiverse avengers and maybe some old ones from season 1 show up with updates from their timelines, have it be more of a team effort.

It Did come out of left field, like Wanda becoming evil off screen. Even though we as the audience knew strange supreme had a troubled past, it wasn’t alluded to us in Any way that he would just turn around and become evil

The Killmoger episode was amazing. I don’t get why people hate on it. As a self contained story, that shit had me enthralled, but the treatment he got in every episode afterwards sucked. If they just continued the original story, it would’ve been a 10/10 episode for me.
Episode number 4 had caused a bit of a controversy in the Spanish world for depicting Spanish as the bas ones and the British character helping the Mohawk, its truly ironic hahaha

well, tbf the French were more welcoming than the British often intermarrying with the Native and maintaining substantial fur trades, as the British ended up stealing native lands & food. The Spanish on the other hand often killed native who refused to convert & created the Encomienda System to enslave them. I think it’s a ironic that we blind ourselves to history refusing to believe & often rewriting the truth.

In my personal opinion, there are no genuinely bad episodes of What If. The only episodes of What If I could classify as "bad" is the Hank Pym murder mystery episode from Season 1 (1×3) & the Die Hard inspired episode from Season 2 (2×3). Other than those ones, nearly every other What If episode hits amazingly. I genuinely hope that the show keeps on going, because there's so much What Ifs to do. Plus, it keeps driving the point home that animation is important.
If i'm gonna compared both seasons of What If?, then i would argue that S2 is defenetly far more consistent than S1 when it comes to quality, but i don't think the height of S2 is at least comparable to S1 (I mean remember the Supreme Strange eps or that Infinity Ultron eps?)
Loki and What If make me wonder what other alternate reality spinoffs we could get from different franchises!
My favorite Season 1 episode was the murder mystery episode with alternate Hank Pym as Yellowjacket, and my favorite Season 2 episode was the Hela/Wenwu episode.
For me, the series has yet to justify Uatu's oath. Throughout the entire first season, its repeatedly drilled into the story how important the Watcher's oath is and how big of a deal him breaking his oath in the season one finale is, we see no consequences of this. I was hoping so bad that there would be a piece of this season that would explore what happened as a consequence of him intervening. But.... nothing.

I also rewatched and ranked every episode, and I was shocked that we had the same ratings for 11/18 of the episodes. The only ones that weren't close were that I gave Party Thor 8/10, and I gave Starlord Tchala 10/10. I think your points about them are convincing though. I disagree with you regarding the animation. Everything you said is valid. Like ...how does Kahhori even speak English so perfectly??. Theres a ton of other plot points , but twas still enjoyable..
My real problem with most episodes is how they are unoriginal and lazy, especially in season 2. I think Kahhori is an interesting character with a lot of potential and i hope season 3 give her more episodes, but my main issue is with Captain Carter, since i never found her as a real endearing character and see her more like a british rip-off of Captain America or a “Steve with boobies'', and also the insane amount of powers and haxes they gave her was just ridiculous for the kind character she is. It would have been much better if they had put Scarlet witch in the finale, joining force with Kahhori against Strange Supreme to stop him, now that would have been freaking awesome. Speaking of Strange, I really hate that they lazily reused him as a villain instead of giving us a new bad guy, someone like Superior Iron-man or The Maker. He was my favorite character in season 1 alongside Infinity Ultron and I really hoped we had more of him instead of Cap. Carter. Also the Hela episode with the 10 rings was just stupid and insulting, this kind of episode was screaming for a “Iron-Man Vs Mandarin Death Battle”, but instead they give us this garbage

My personal favorite episode is the one where Peter Quill fights the Avengers. There’s a number of characters that you know were pretty cool in their time, but are retired by the time of the movies, so it’s really neat getting to see characters like T’Chaka and Hank Pym in action

This seems like a mix of: - You don’t understand the premise for ‘What if…?’ - You don’t understand the concept of the series and the fact that they’re not 2 hour films, complaining of pacing in a 30 minute show, what do you expect? - Hating on the MCU is a trend and a great way to get views - Wanting everything to be the same tone - Not allowing any humour or comedy - Straight up expecting it to be as constrained as the normal MCU in terms of having to follow continuity & rules when the point of ‘What if…?’ Is the opposite This video just seems like one really long complaint fueled by online notions of what’s popular to think & believe
For me, all of the episodes from Season 1 were bad (With the Worst Episode being the 6th episode where Killmonger is just… a bad fan character.). Season 2’s episodes weren’t good, but that doesn’t mean all of it were bad. For starters the first three episodes (While having its own problems each) were alright, they weren’t good, but they weren’t bad either. We also had Kahhori’s episode that was arguably the best one of the show’s 2nd season. That said… we still had bad episodes, like the Hela episode, or the 2nd Captain Carter episode, or even the 1602 episode (Which is just the worst.).

Having recently rewatched the season 1 finale, I thought it was really cool how every episode was brought in. The Watcher bringing in Strange Supreme, Captain Carter, T’challa Star Lord, Killmonger, Party Thor, and eventually the Black Widow of episode 8. Strange bringing in the zombies from episode 5 and the Watcher putting Black Widow on the world of episode 3. I thought that was really good. Also while rewatching, I realized that if the show had come out in mid 2020, then Chadwick Boseman’s passing would not have been as surprising. The way his voice sounds in the finale, it’s clear that he wasn’t doing well. It’s a real shame that we already got his final performance as T’challa. He was as well cast as Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr, and Christopher Reeve before him.

While I enjoy Captain Carter more than you, I do agree about the Happy Hogan Christmas and thor eps were underwhelming. Faves are the murder mystery and 80s avengers (though, how does ego manipulate the earth? It was one thing when it was his own planet)

The christmas episode ie great, IF IT WASNT A WHAT IF EPISODE, nothing about it honestly even feels like a what if episode, no alternate versions or anything, hell my headcanon is this just happened before age of ultron and happy gets cured a little later, and boom! It fits right inot the main mcu as a seperate christmas special.

For me the only good episodes of Season 2 were the Nebula Noir one and the Hela one. the others were just a Captain Carter Promo and the last episode ends with the show being turned into a kind of Doctor Who with the The Watcher and his companion exploring time and space. Hard pass.

I'm not going to bother ranking them, I'm just going to list them in order of release. Worst: Season 1 Episode 4. Season 2 Episodes 4, 8, and 9 Best: Season 1 Episodes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Season 2 Episodes 1, 2, 5, and 7 Honorable mentions: Season 2 Episode 3 I kind of agree doesn't actually feel like a what if story at all. It just feels like something that could have happened in the main universe. It's a good story for what it is I just don't feel like it fits the tone of the series. Season 2 Episode 6 doesn't even have any alternate versions of any character we would actually know and instead introduces a brand new character who I actually like but why are we being introduced to her in "What if...?" This isn't the place to be introducing new characters we've never seen before. This is suppose to be exploring fun alternate takes on characters we already know with a twist that changes the course of the story. So again I don't hate the episode I just don't think it fits the tone of the series.
I honestly kinda hate Kahhori. She feels like a self insert to show off how cool she is. The moment this solidified was when she disarmed Killmonger. Girl power is good an all, but Marvel tries WAY too hard.
Also if all of the native Americans had super powers why was hers the strongest

It is stated in the video that the jokes are some of the worst parts it What If. However, this is the fact I hate in the MCU in general. I can't stand how causally heroes joke around in really serious situations. It is jarring and takes away from the seriousness.

Unlike Season 1, I enjoyed all of season 2 episodes. At worst, 1 of them was average to me, at best most were top tier to me compared to season 1. The only season 1 episodes I like are 1, 2, 4, 8 and 9.

I don't think they need to be void of comedy, most of the best MCU movies are hilarious, they just have to take themselves seriously and not sacrifice tension or stakes for comedy otherwise there's this hollow feeling to it. As for the length of the episodes, if they're going for 30 minutes episodes they need to write stories that fit within 30 minutes.
I liked the fun episodes, I like when the MCU doesn’t take very serious all the time, don’t get me wrong, I love the serious movies and episodes, but I also love to just have some fun with the jokes and all that stuff, I mean, not everting has to be an avengers level treat that will end the world.

I do enjoy the finale of season 2 only not liking that it was just Peggy and Kahhori figthing, and I disagree with people that are mad at stranges reversion as the way I understand it he never fully healed and he was left alone watching the multiverse, on how many of those universes was Christine alive and happy but not with him, a constant reminder of what happened, and the bunch of monsters and demons he absorbed, they corrupted him, I compare him to Wanda in Multiverse of Madness, both trying to get over their grief alone, while being constantly reminded by the multiverse of what they lost, and a source of corruption with them that makes them threaten the multiverse to solve their gref. I guess if you don't like Wanda in MOM then Strange Supreme here will not be your cup of tea either.
The reveal could have worked with even just one end credit scene of strange sat dwelling in his loneliness and maybe lighting the forge to hammer it in

Although I don't agree with some of the rankings on this list, I definitely agree with Infinity Ultron Won and Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands being in the top. Both are episodes I have found myself watching over and over again!
I personally would’ve put both What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark? & What If… Zombies?! below What If… Thor Were an Only Child? because I felt the former meandered a bit and the later was just weird but that’s just me.
For season 1 I think the kilmonger episode is the worst of the season and i think the zombies is the best of season. For season 2 I think the nebula episode was the worst but still was good and I think the best episode is the one in 1602.
Wasn't Marvel Zombies a dark comedy? The tone in the What If...? episode is consistent, at least.
Dark comedy still has to make sense. Exploding your best friend, zombie or not, shouldn't result in "I'm covered in X". Want real dark comedy, try the actual Marvel Zombies. Iron Man susses out the truth by making Spiderman cry [Spidey has serious grief about eating MJ and Aunt May and the fact he was coherient enough to talk was a sign that he had consumed something. Marvel Zombies in the comics are only ravenous monsters when hungry]
i only like 2 episodes from season 2......ep. 6 and 7 where gold and the finally action was ok minus captain Carter being the main character and the one who won the day shes not qualified for that level of action and power which what made it disappointing

I’m not sure what’s happened to Korg. He’s one of the best parts of Thor: Ragnarok, love him in that movie, and then just doesn’t really work ever again. Makes me sad!
I like this show but the characters they choose for some of the episodes just aren’t that interesting to me
