[00:00] Intro
[01:48] What beliefs and practices are central to Islam?
[04:12] Islam’s unmoved mover argument for God and the universe
[07:30] “Things made of parts... must be contingent on being created by something else, a sorting mechanism [that] doesn’t necessitate [creation itself].” Mohammed Hijab
[08:25] “It is problematic, through the lens of Islam... for there to be a god of a triune nature like [in] Christianity.” MH
[08:58] “Islam does not believe that there’s an element of divinity... in human beings.” MH
[10:09] “The word Islam does not mean peace; it means submission. Islam believes that everything in the universe submits to God.” MH
[10:57] The metanarrative of Islam
[12:12] Mohammed’s view of worship and belief
[12:48] “We believe in... the inherent belief in God implanted in humans.” MH
[15:20] What’s the purpose of belief?
[17:00] The instinct for God arguments vs new atheists
[18:27] The Muslim ideal for worship, compared
[24:36] Muslims and Christians as followers of Jesus Christ
[27:59] How does Dr. Peterson envision the spark of divinity?
[28:25] “The divine spark is embodied virtue... reflective of the highest value, operating at a local scale.” JP
[29:42] How are the attributes of God knowable to a Muslim? The importance of the original version of the Quran
[35:07] “Islam is an evangelizing religion... we want everyone to embrace it.” MH
[35:31] Bridges to Islam
[38:50] “I’m speaking from the perspective of someone who’s a traditionalist Muslim and not a liberal or enlightened Muslim.” MH
[40:47] An abridged story of the prophet Muhammad. The Mecca and Medina periods. Rationalizing the warrior emphasis of many Muslim teachings
[44:10] Muhammad’s warrior traits and Hijab’s interpretation
[49:20] Exploring the terms “warlord” and “defensive wars.”
[50:54] In Hijab’s opinion, what’s the central driving force behind the expansion of Islam?
[52:10] “Islam has the capability of being expansive through war... and of making peace treaties. It does and should do whatever’s in its best interest, just like every country.” MH
[55:39] Against totalitarianism
[58:46] “Evangelising isn’t the same as compelling.” MH
[58:56] “Let the best story win. I would say that the proper mode of conversion is something like a shining example.” JP

But this is actually not always true, because Islam is a religion that is fair between a man and a woman. Each of them has his role, and no one is better than the other. But it depends on the cultural level of the family and the extent of the family's connection. I mean there are families all over the world who are not very good at treating each other.

Abu Sa`id said, "We went with Allah's Apostle, in the Ghazwa of Bani Al-Mustaliq and we captured some of the 'Arabs as captives, and the long separation from our wives was pressing us hard and we wanted to practice coitus interruptus. We asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (whether it was permissible). He said, "It is better for you not to do so. No soul, (that which Allah has) destined to exist, up to the Day of Resurrection, but will definitely come, into existence." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 2542) It talks about coitus interruptus and our prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) didn't recommended it to do. I don't know why many Cristian try to be scholar of Islam even though they don't know about their own religion and they always try to put sexual things into every argument of them just to prove islam wrong anyhow.

It's also the first interview where I've seen such a GOOD and full figured digestion and processing of information coming to such a peaceful and hopeful conclusion with Dr. Peterson becoming emotional at the end of the stressful session and Mr. Jahid actually softening and being very generous and endearing. They are clearly more modest and aren’t indulged in the materialistic temporary world. We have women undergoing all sorts of life threatening surgeries, dangerous diets and many more issues such as mental disorders because they can’t be “that” perfect being. Islam honours and protects women, Islam provided women with rights 1400 years ago when women’s suffrage was still going on even within the past century. Men and women covering their awrah protects them. Women are also protected from the wicked male lustful gaze. Women are also meant to be accompanied by male guardians. Following in course creates harmony and stability in society.

      @gujjar78602@gujjar786022 жыл бұрын
    • @@LanaW123 A lack of common sense from your narrow angle of view, but from a different perspective, say the woman who was dressed, it stems from a good trait rarely seen in the west called modesty. The true perception and meaning of it and not your own opinion of it. See, the west sees dressing modestly (for females) as wearing clothes that are what they deem nice, comfortable and casual/formal with mild parts of the female skin (including bare swimwear) showing as being acceptable. But where's the modesty in that? I've never seen a nun during summer strip down to a tight dress or bare swimwear, regardless of weather or climate. Why? Go question her actions. And why is Mary always drawn being fully dressed from head to toe? If you say times have changed, well that means you submitted to the trials of time and temptations of the devil. We did not. We stood the trial of time and kept with our faith and deviated from the temptations of the devil. We dress more like the nuns and Mary than female Christians do today. The woman is the opposite of a man, and the male is attracted to the female. By nature of course, males find females attractive and vice-versa. So, how to solve this? Men lower their gaze around women and women dress properly and cover rather than flaunt and show off their bodies to accepting immodest men. With something as simple as this, followed by keeping in check the boyfriend/girlfriend drama, rape percentages, sex assaults, abortions will see an ENORMOUSLY dramatic decrease. Follow that by cuts in alcohol and gambling and you see again another drop in things like death rates, murders, suicides, accidents, drug abuse, jail percentages, etc. They're prohibited for a reason. So look into things a bit deeper sister. God bless.

Will we have sexual intercourse with our wives in Paradise” He said, “The man will be able to have sexual intercourse with a hundred virgins in one day.” Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith Number 2536: The Prophet said: “The believer will be given tremendous strength in Paradise for sexual intercourse.” It was questioned: “O prophet of Allah! Can he do that?” He said: “He will be given the strength of one hundred persons.

    • @@zubairabbasi7879 And?. Do you deny the fact that one of the greatest weakness of men are women? And one of the best way to keep men on track and get them to do what’s right is to promise them a hereafter that will fulfill one of their wishes. But let me ask you, Are you going to isolate Islam to these Hadiths and verse?. There is a bigger picture. This reward and much more comes after you have proven yourself to be modest and pure in this world. Not have 100 virgins in this world if you could. I know most men in the west will if they could. Get it. But we can’t. We have to marry and live responsibly and go through tests and trials. 5 pillars and six articles of faith and hundreds of other responsibilities, but you wanna twist the Hadiths and verses and make people assume Islam is all about something it actually isn’t?Unbelievable. Even the word Islam means submission to God. That is the main purpose of life according to Quran, the speech of Allah: To submit and worship one God. How pathetic. This comment shows how weak people’s arguments are against Islam, even tot he extent that they aren’t arguments at all. It just tells no one has any rational argument against Islam. Alhamdulillah for Islam. And I call you to One true God.

  • Aside from the biblical series, I think this is my favorite thing that Dr. Peterson has done. He shows a clear desire to learn, he strives to be humble, and he stretches himself out of his traditional box that we've all become familiar with. He's wrestling with new ideas, and it's very refreshing to hear. I really hope he will one day do a series on Exodus and treat it the same way he did with Genesis.

Pointedly-again, heretics or not-the eagerness of Dr Jordan B Peterson to have the discussions and continually extend his hand (and voice / platform) in curiosity and peace toward Islam is a *set of actions that speak louder than words.*
