Adele performs Someone Like You live at the BRIT Awards 2011.

Just think the immense pressure the guy on the piano has to deal with. A stadium filled with 90,000 odd thousand people relying on you. Adele relying on you. A entire nation relying on you. Just one slip of the finger and that's it. Everything is ruined. This one goes out to you piano guy. Crazy amount respect to you.

I have so much respect for this lady, not just because she has a lovely personality and an incredible voice and song writing skills. But this is a lady that pulled back from her career while it was at an all time high to raise her child away from the public eye. She gave her career up for nearly 5 years to be a mom to her child, and then you look at most stars these days that cannot wait to chuck there child down a runway and on the cover of magazines yet she walked away from it all and still will not allow a magazine to publish a photo of her child. A true music icon and not just a money making puppet. On that note I'm so happy with the surprise teaser she's just realised for her new album. You have been missed Adele, welcome back.
@Leo-pp8vf8 жыл бұрын
+Mark Tripton Most women do that, no matter the career women have to chuck it in to have a child. Whereas men just chuck out their spawn and expect the woman to take care of it, complain of the cost and whine if they can't see the chucked out spawn when they want to. And blame their Mother when it all goes wrong.
@BlogBitch8 жыл бұрын
+BlogBitch completely disagree! Most women do eventually leave work to return once there child has been born and raised to a certain age, the post I made was regarding woman in Hollywood that jump straight back into work after giving birth due to it giving them extra publicity. In regards to men, I understand your point to an extent, not all fathers are the same. I still stand by the saying it doesn't take a mother or a father to raise a child, it takes a parent regardless of there gender.

Upon this songs release In 2008, I couldn't believe that Adele (someone I'd obviously never met) was able to write my life, write my love & write my pain, so specifically & so, so well, as if she'd plucked it right from my own mind & heart. Her ability to do this for millions of us world wide is absolutely incredible & her huge talent is totally incomparable. For years I used to cry while singing to this, but now I am just genuinely moved & playing the music on my piano feels like such a precious gift. Adele is (IMPO) a true, generational, British icon. A woman history will be listening to for decades & centuries to come. As long as there are humans, there will be love & so we'll always be touched by such creative writing, together with truly beautifully written & played music.

I've been around as a musician, and I experienced the 60s with Dylan and The Beatles. I love jazz and classical, Big Band and Hank Williams, but for my tastes Adele is simply the best popular singer I've ever heard. Add the fact she writes her own songs and they are excellent. Her vocal tone is incredible, with that 'catch,' in her voice. But more so it's the raw emotion she sings with, which goes directly to my heart. Ultimately, that's what I want, I want to f.e.e.l. when I hear a song. Adele has that ability. She's a singer that wasn't a creation of producers and managers. She's authentic and un-produced, and she deserves all her massive acclaim.

Pure goosebumps. Smh. I never had a break up til my husband died 12 years ago. Age 51 then. Never bothered looking for anyone else. No one could ever match our love of 33 yrs. Its no fun alone I must say. I would always know there is no match for what we had. I can't imagine a break up and him still running around out there. We are musicians and I can hardly get thru a full song he wrote. I should shop them around. We played such beautiful musical along the classic rock genre. I miss him dearly. I would not just say she had her Heart broken as almost every one has been Broken Hearted once in its Life. Her ability to write her experience is, at least, as much important as any experience she can be through.
Actually real, raw talent ,not auto tuned all the way....her voice always gives me all the feels and chills !!!
Ok but can we just take a minute to appreciate the fact she was 22 when she sang this
I love that the audience was so taken back by the performance that they stopped making noise and just listened. That's talent.
I was in that audience!. Her performance was breathtaking !! I could relate to that song so much at the time as I went through the first heartbreak with my first love. Never forgot the.feeling
Taken aback !
+Mark Tripton Unless you know her personally, I don't know how you come to that assumption. She is well documented to have performance anxiety issues and is just as likely to have semi-retired after banking 50 million.
+BlogBitch 1) Tries to reason with a man 2) Stereotypes all men 3) Expects the man to agree
+Mark Tripton She has a very clear idea about who she is. I hope I can be like her.
Over ten years later and this still moves me like no other. I guess every broken heart can relate. I miss this Adele 💕
Art is completely subjective and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. That being said, this is the greatest performance of art that is ever done.

This is right here Is the moment ADELE become a superstar. This moment. Not the grammys. This right here made her a star above other singers of 200s
***** Nothing compares to a live performance...
She had a grammy before this but def was a game changer
RuReady115 yes, it very funny that many people was not aware of that. when she got bigger in USA for examples , they were shock she had success with first ablum 19 in uk/europe.
+raquel very true, to pull off a ballad like this, note perfect, in front of such a huge live audience is the mark of a true superstar.
MJ she got bigger in the U.S.A. ,!!!!! Must have been the cream cakes 😂
''There is nothing quite like the feeling when you are listening to a song written by someone you don`t know or you`ve never met, who somehow manages to describe exactly how you felt at a particular moment in your life. This next artist is able to do that time after time. If you`ve ever had a broken heart, you`re about to remember it now.'' Am i the only one who dead-right loves James cordon`s intro speech?
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Na. Definitely did the song justice
I really loved what he said afterwards!" Wow, wasn't that amazing? You can have all the dancers, the pyrotechnics, all the lasershows you want... But if you sound like that... All you need is a piano! Incredible."
Tanvir Sifat we all heard what he said you didnt need to write it down
Seriously, dude? Here's a thought. When you get a minute pull your head out of your ass.
Hats off to the pianist, forgotten hero
George Michael was the same - utter musical genius and a lovely guy to boot.
this marked the moment Adele went from being a star to a juggernaut that she is today.
kzhead.infoa11n1nDoHco?feature=share
Juggernaut? I thought she'd lost some weight .
Maybe not the best choice of word. Juggernaut: a massive inexorable force, campaign, movement, or object that crushes whatever is in its path... a literal or metaphorical force regarded as merciless, destructive, and unstoppable.
@@richardwebb2348 Sounds like the perfect word for her dominance over the charts back then.
Who else rolling into 2020 still watching and loving Adele!!!! 💯💯💯
Forever
She's 1000%
Outer beauty is a gift. Inner beauty is an accomplishment.
Meee
Absolutely. No reason to stop listening to the classics Cedric, be it the 7th May 1824 or the 11th January 2020. A hit is a hit my friend.
Arguably the greatest live performance by anyone ever, literally ever.
I remember how this performance changed everything, she blew up so hugely
No matter how many times I hear this, the line “Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste” sends me over the edge. A heartbreakingly beautiful song.
Just started tearing up at that line 😫
My bittersweet is I became disabled (through illness) and their life improved. Sometimes it's not just love that's bittersweet.
here in 2021 (10 years later) and it still hits the same. What she did with this performance cannot be undone
so true! people come and go, voices stand their grounds.
kzhead.infoa11n1nDoHco?feature=share
I can't believe this is already 11 years old. It's the ringtone on my phone. Never gets old. Never will.
Absolute masterpiece… Timeless song.. You can feel she literally sings from heart here, it’s impossible not to sing along… ❤️
I remember watching this live and everyone in the room just sat in silence until the end. Still get goosebumps
Kudos for your and that audience’s reaction. Contrast that with the seemingly unfeeling commentator and audience in this video: An artist bares her soul and the audience just cheers - no wonder many artists have psychological problems.
okay
@@gevangasteren nigga what??
Right, I remember watching this live like it was yesterday. Not one dry eye in my house that night
Yip 👏😭
Just a piano and Adele’s voice. Simple but brilliant.
Incredibly brilliant
I could just listen to hear her talent forever, in fact, when they put me in the ground, im going have all her music put onto a double sided tape, then have a sony walkman wired to a car battery and then put the best headphones on my head so that i can listen to her into the hereafter.
And the guy who plays the piano ehekk
I'd be honored if some Adele fans who appreciate 80s/90s classics would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of PURPLE RAIN by Prince and PRAYING FOR TIME by George Michael on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of the greatest vocalist-songwriters in music history. Live acoustic with no autotune. Peace and stay safe in the '020s.
Yep the best I taught u music to understand the concept of the song? The meaning feeling truths
I remember watching this. It was like the world stopped and listened. This definitely launched her into superstardom. She's always been great, but this performance was on a whole different level - for her and for the show.
The open with her just stand up there alone in piano while the flashes burning out the stadium is a part of history.
This is not even a music video but this video has 175 million views . Thats why i love adele. She is a LEGEND
It's almost 177 million views already bro❤️❤️
True that
When this song went to #1 in Australia, the official video hadn’t been released yet, so Channel V (Australia’s main music channel) made this the de facto video and aired it on high rotation
This is more than a music video - it’s a moment in time that is way more memorable 😍
180 million now on 29/4/21
The fact that she is almost in tears after her own performance speaks volumes. This is hands down one of the most elegant and touching live performances ive ever seen.
Tim Hartings the combination of the lyrics and coming back to music after a break
BJ Baratti Wow you certainly have a way with words. But why so philosophical? This is just a website where you come to watch videos and maybe post a passing funny comment. You’re boring the hell out of everybody BJ. This is the internet, no one cares about what you think, write or just you generally. Fuck outta here with that BS
So grateful to have been here and seen this live. Won a competition at work and got to go. Easily one of the highlights of my life. I wasn't in a dark place then but I have been since and am now and the power of this song brings me back all those years later. Loneliness is real and it hurts. Her vulnerability is beautiful. For anyone struggling right now, you're not alone.
The performance of a lifetime, this literally changed her life.
Hello, I’m Morgan and nice to meet you
That performance is one of the greatest moments in music
Very touching
@DougVale I knew. Listen to Chasing Pavement since it came out.
nobody mentioned the pianist . . great job bro 👍
Mad lad
He is fantastic!
because he's not singing the song🤣
Absolutely, the fact that he takes her cue to end the song too
Really? Simple, dull arpeggios. It's the most basic and boring piano accompaniment.
Makes me cry every single time. 22 years old and able to express like a poet is an absolute favorite.
If you have a broken heart, you listen to her!! She is the best
THE pain of loss in the cracked voice and eloquent words.... I cannot imagine. Thank God, I was lucky in love. Loved only once, and for a lifetime. .....
I'm happy for you, Denise
Being in love can blind u from seeing reality
That’s good Denise but don’t be afraid of pain either, it’s what makes us human :)

I was there at the o2 this night and saw this live. Truly was the moment she transcended into superstardom! I remember vividly watch all the celebs at the tables just mesmerised by this performance. What a night!
She is truly great. Her lyrics have meaning, her songs tell stories & provoke physical & emotional responses, from goosebumps to tears. And this is not my typical genre of music but I can't help it, she's too good & so beautiful.
Especially when you hear songs like this. I can feel her pain. Much love to ya Adele.💓
im so sorry. you made me cry. i hope you are ok :)
@@williamjohansen515 I'm ok now. Still miss the hell out of him tho. Its been 12 years now. I've learned to deal with it..the pain never goes away I just handle it bertter. Hard to play certain songs without him.. We played a lot he was the lyricist and We are both guitarist with perfect harmony. Hard to find what we had...i miss him dearly. Thanks William for stopping in. Have a beautiful day🎵🎸🌹
@@nancyboyd6273 you too❤️
You deserve all the happiness possible...may you claim it
Sorry to hear that :(
I was in London the night before this and I called the guy I was dating. He was also dating someone else at the time and I made him choose… he chose her. I came back home and watched this performance live that night. I’d kept myself together until I watched this and then completely fell apart. It explained everything I was feeling and I’ll never forget that moment. It was my first ever heartbreak and the one that cut the deepest 🤍
hope you found the one?!!
I can relate
I know this was a long time ago, but I feel your pain. I was rejected by my first love, high school, many times. I still dream about him.
@@Fletcher938 sadly not as of yet 😆 gotten a lot more selective though, just perhaps too selective. Happy with just me and my pup at the moment so all is well 🙂🐶
Yeah I felt that to. But hey, if you’re falling for a guy this hard after one date you should get help.
Not a big fan of her genre of music, but this song is amazing. I can count the number of songs that give me goosebumps on one hand, and this is definitely one of them.
Ditto. This performance is in my top. Unchained Melody live is number 1 Disturbed's version in Conan number 2 and this at 3. That's the performance that changed her career.
This and Street Spirit live in Yokohama are probably my favorite live performances
No matter what year would it be.. Adele.. You’ll be a living legend forever! You simply rock!
This will always be my favourite live version of this song. So much raw emotion, incredible staging and lighting. Just one woman and a piano is all you need to create magic. Good to have you back Adele!
At the end of the song, look at her face and they way she 'Body speaks', she lived the song right at that moment for me....Wooooow!

You ain't kiddin'.
Fuckin right
Yep 😂
I still remember watching this live and I’ve not seen anything since that beats it 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Once in a generation,if you're lucky and blessed,a voice like hers will be there for us to experience and share with our world.Forever love to adele❤
The song that makes you think about the person, that's not even thinking about you.😒
Doesn't hurt so good
If you listen to her voice you end up forgeting about the person that brought you here, now that is impressive.
never forget cause it just made me win the fucking freak show from an so called SMART narsissist doctor i knew more about then she her self sadly..just paie atention sweety oops ..
@ekim andersom Do you know when the person leaves you and you're kind of at a loss as to what to do next because you were used to having that person with you? Such a thought is part of the process of overcoming I think
true
She was so shy towards the end, you could feel her nerves through her voice but she made it through and to think about the kind of artist she has evolved into today. It is so amazing to see artists evolve the way they do throughout their careers. It just reminds you how much we all change as we age. Oh life.
Very accurate and astute. I’m guessing all artists are similar to be writing these songs without emotion and keep it all in check and put on a concert. That takes a while to learn
@@TheAtticradio thank you. I totally agree 🤌🏾
I'd imagine it's harder for artist who put their heart and soul on display like that. To me in looked like she was feeling what she sang, reliving emotions and putting them into her performance.
@@hosekichan that's a great way to look at it. I can totally view it that way too now. Isn't it so interesting to see how differently we all perceive the same things??
imo in this case it seemed her deeply felt the lyrics that she was going through a heart break i can tell she was about to cry here. and of course since 19 era, she told so many times she always nervous even it was hard for her to doing a huge concert with stadium crowd.
2024 one of my favourite Adele songs. She really is a unique artist ❤ xxx
Im 50 this year and will say this performance by this absolutely beautiful lady was utter perfection ...ive cried at funerals loosing friends to young !! ..My sister and i had a tough time through the divorce of our parents when we young and i found i bottled up all my feelings and emotions for all those years... ..played this with my mum and we both cried hard ....A pain/feeling was released from my heart...Thank you Adele XXXXXXX
One of the most amazing heart-breaking songs ever.
Tell me about it
Timeless, master piece. And she has amazing voice and delivery.
I cry every listening
She always puts everything into her songs . Adele you’re fabulous
Yup 😔.
I'm 62 years of age and I've listened to just about everything you can throw at me. But this is probably the most emotional, brilliant performance I have ever witnessed. FFS....what a superb thing this is......I can't believe it.

This might just be one of the most beautiful live performances of all time.
I didn’t ‘get’ Adele when she released her first album; promoted as a ‘Soul Artist’ confused the heck out of me. THEN I saw this performance and I totally ‘got’ her; there was so much soul in her voice and performance, that she won me over in a heartbeat. Real music.
That last few seconds when she's stood around looking awkward just proves she's not the usual self obsessed artist of today and just a genuine person with a great voice
When the Brit award aired, they followed her to a elevator, that had her man in it, she hugged him crying, prob due 2 nerves. Still remember that bit
She has very bad stage fright.
Merccy me
Norm Ralkie that was at her radio city music hall concert
The crying in the elevator was after her performance at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City before the release of her '25' album. Not after this performance on the Brit Awards. If you haven't seen the Radio City Music Hall performances they are definitely worth a view! Got to see her in Texas on her '25' tour and it is still the best concert I have ever seen. Hats off to anyone who can make an arena sit and watch captivated while you stand still on a stage and just sway back and forth. #legend
You can notice how her voice breaks, that feeling that makes us all love her. I can't wait for her new album
♾️
You are kind 😇
Hope you liked her new album

All the times I have listened to this, and I am still riveted. Every. Single. Time. I truly believe this is one of the best live performances ever given.
I'm a 58 year old grandad, been happy, been sad but when when I hear this girl sing this song LIKE THIS I always shed a year. Beautiful beautiful beautiful
Pls. come back Adele, the world needs your stunning voice and i want to see you live someday!?!
Her album comes out in fall yay
does anybody think the guy who broke adeles heart must shit his pants everytime he hears this?
haha Probably 😂
Is it really true that someone really broke her heart?
+Amira Hasan of corse htf you do lyrics like that without being able to know wtf age on about !!!!
+Darion Williams he probably shits his pants thinking about all the millions he missed out on being Mr Adele :)
+Josh Dugan She only makes her money from making songs about tragedy in her life, and that was one. Her newest isn't actually felt, so it isn't quite as good. Had he been Mr. Adele, little would have happened!
Goosebumps, so special. Time stands still for moments like these. Love how much she has grown in confidence. Still a London girl at heart too💕
The moment i fell in Love with her. No words to discribe
No singer could ever make me cry like that
+Xenia Jessica You've never heard me sing. After about a minute there will be streams of tears rolling down your face...as you try to stuff your fingers in your ears and beg me to stop.
Haha
+Xenia Jessica What if Elton John poked you in the eye with his finger?
+Rob Fraser no if lady Gaga poked her face ... pun intended yes ...
+jmeove your right when i see justin beiber i cry with laughter... how funny
A song, a voice and a pianist - nothing better.
Hello Karina, I'm actually new her so I really need someone to talk with or probably have more conversation together
Completely agree.
Hello How are you doing
This performance will forever be iconic! 👏
That introduction alone deserve a Brit award! Thank u James for a wonderful statement to our once in a generation artist, ADELE!
I was there. Magic. The silence was deafening
Amazing
Wow
You are lucky man 👍
Lucky man this was a big night in her career
Wasn't silent.
You can tell how good she is by the silence of the audience. Amazing performance
Absolutely stunning! Every time I watch this, I get chills from the top of my head to my feet. Never lose your innocence Adele.... it is your magic ingredient.
2022 and this song still hits!! Adele's voice has such power
James says it so perfectly: Sometimes all you need is a piano and a voice like this. Amazing! It makes me cry every time.
She has made me cry. All her feelings ,I feel them as she sings
When you have a great voice like hers, instruments are just there for spice.
Raw.. She was so choked at the end.. She couldn't say her usual "thank you" This performance is when i fell for her... ❤
O that so good music
Up4Jess she just lets the feelings goes, once the thank you has been said, all the mood gone...
She said thank you at the end
I love her. One of the best voices of all time.
Adele, I love Adele. She is hand downs one of the greatest Singers of all time. Her voice defitnetly gives me both chills and the same time make me want to cry like a baby. I remember when I was in 3rd or 4th grade when her 21 Album dropped and hearing Rolling in The Deep, Someome Like You etc on the radio for the 1st time and being blown away. Like who is this, she's incredible. I hope to see Adele in concert one day soon/in the near future. I would probably start crying like a baby. But I have no shame if I did because it's Adele.
