Hi Everyone, bit of an epic video here but i really wanted to share with you how i bottle up my honey direct from the barrel. You end up with a high quality product, safely delivered at the correct weight in to each individual pot.
I am rebranding and moving over to new glass jars/pots and i explain all this in the video.
I use a Swienty Bottling machine which i am becoming very fond of. It delivers a lot of precisely metered honey once set up correctly. The set up takes a while but worth it!
Heres the link to the Swienty bottling machine:www.swienty.com/pi/Fillingsta...
I use the electric probe (giant potato masher) here is the link to that:www.swienty.com/pi/DANA-api-T...
Thanks for watching.

"Buy quality, cry once" is my motto. 😜
My favourite bit is when you clean your barrel up...... I look and think, that's half my entire production there..🤣🤣🤣 You on a different level big boy. 😂😂
That is a nice setup and very efficient. Like how you keep things clean but I would recommend wrapping up your barrel cover insulation with plastic wrap to keep potential fibers out of your honey.
I worked in a dairy and the barrels of cream we filled had a plastic bag liner in them too. Great filling machine, I looked at their stand at the Telford beekeeping show.
Interesting video!
Great information, I've been thinking about buying a bottling machine. You provided good insight on things to consider. Pretty small mess for bottling 600 lbs of honey. Thanks for sharing
Nice one Richard, great setup you have there
I really like the simplicity of your bottle. If it crystallizes they can still spoon it out.
Thanks for the syringe tip - I had been struggling with mine😅
Awesome setup Richard!!
Wow that’s amazing
Thank you Richard
Brilliant thank you Richard
I definetly need to see your equipments and the bee processes you go through!
Thank you so much, great insight to machines available and type of operation 👍
I was told the honey bottling machine prefers the honey at room temp.
I am very jealous of the buckwheat honey!
Parabéns pelo trabalho na apicultura abraço 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝👋👋👋
The heated probe does make sense, heating from the inside out. And I've never seen honey in plastic pots.
I think I've done well when I bottle up a 5 gal. pail. LOL That is a nice machine for sure, a necessity when you get big. So Buckwheat honey is a premium in France - here in MN I would think it would be a hard sell since it has such a unique flavor. What a 500 g sells for an extra euro or two?
Well done Richard. Now the question have you set up shipping yet and will your honey be available in Wales next month for a tour of force ? I’ll be there in May to hopefully get yours and Grufflys honey
Richard, how is the Hawaiian bee lady doing?
Great stuff to learn. Thanks for sharing! I wonder if those liners are rated for direct contact with the 50 degree element once it sinks to the bottom
Great point!
Great setup Richard, can't say I'm a fan of buckwheat. I wonder if it tastes the same as here in the U.S., to me it tastes like molasses with hints of cough syrup!!!! Oh well, each to their own.
Life set, cream, diced buckwheat honey
Härligt att se början på den nya året av honungsskörd & hantering med nya redskap, Nyfiken på hur din honung smakar :)
Richard how sweet is your Buckwheat honey . I started getting Buckwheat honey last year an mine is a little sweet but nothing like all my other honey. Is that the way your is .???I have trouble keeping it because people love it an it goes fast . Thanks
Any concern for microplastics from bag? They say its everywhere now, from plastics we use to hold food, liquids. IDK
Absolutely no idea 🤷🏼♂️ ! Good question
Do you have to clean all the pots? I buy boxes of 12oz jars but always wonder if I should wash them before use or just use them straight from the freshly opened box
Hi all jars are inspected prior to filling. In almost all cases the jars are packed sterile as they are heated to hundreds of degrees above boiling point to make the pot. I suppose you might be more careful if your buying individual jars. When you buy in quantity say a palette at a time, the glass is sterile. However it doesn’t mean we don’t check. The other point is, honey is a sterile produce, anti viral, anti bacterial do itdoes not promote the growth of bacteria. As long as the jars/pots are kept dust free there is no need to wash them. 😊
@richardnoel3141 thanks, to be fair I hadn't looked at it like that.
What does 500g buckwheat go for Richard? $20 wholesale, $25 retail maybe.
Retail about 18 euros a kilo. So lol work that out in dollars lol 😬🙏🤷🏼♂️
@@richardnoel3141 is $20, so good price, same here in urban areas, less in rural areas.
You obviously need helper. 👍 Fact. Period. 🤷
What mill of bag do you use in your barrel?
Standard 300 kilo barrel bags.
@@richardnoel3141 all I can find is 4 mil or 6 mil…
You needed to have the camera at a different spot so we can see what’s going on and not just see your back! Great setup though.
