Time for a fencing road trip. I recently popped up the lane to help with some garden fencing at Jo's sister's house.

  • Oh, so YOU are Tim! I didn't know that... been following the channel since the remodelling of the house, but I always thought your name was DIY... ;)

  • Postsaver expanding foam in the post foundation is a lot easier to use than postcrete and their anti-rot sleeves for posts are easy to fit. Have used both in my garden and wouldn't go back to postcrete tbh.

    • Glad you enjoyed it. It's a great view up there, especially for a much needed beer away from the farm every once in a while. 😀

  • You’re right about concrete and water rotting the posts off. I used Oak posts 6x4 on my garden fence thinking I will never have to replace them in my life time but they are rotting off after 8yrs. I even sloped the concrete up the post to make water runoff from the base of the posts and they still rotted out ☹️. Straight into the ground I am sure they would have lasted.

    • Wow really? What part of the country are you in? Do you get deep freezes? That must’ve been shockingly expensive

  • If you paint galvanised mesh black or dark green with a roller, it disappears.

  • What is the spacing between the posts? I need to keep my hens enclosed.

    • Just went for 1.8m so the length of a post to keep it simple. Also means a 3.6m rail will fit well if you want one along the top of mid way.

  • You really do need to invest in a decent mallet or club hammer. That claw hammer is doing you no favours!!

    • For hammering 30mm staples? 🤔

      @TheRestorationCouple@TheRestorationCoupleАй бұрын
    • @@TheRestorationCouple no for banging the diagonal posts etc into place. I’ve seen you using the hammer before for jobs like that. Sometimes you need a bit more heft. lol.

      @rogergladding7943@rogergladding7943Ай бұрын
    • It’s sometimes good to hold a sledge hammer on the back of the post when hammering in staples. It gives something solid to hammer against. Never mind still a great watch.

    • Having put a couple of hundred in around the farm now, it’s definitely worth using. Can be slower than a banger but after first 10 by hand you soon slow up. 👍
