I’ve been a BMW tech for almost 20 years. My pride and joy was a 2001 740i sport. I installed intake manifold from the m60 motor, updated the radio to bm53 flat pin so I could do factory aux input and the list goes on. It was modified but all factory parts. You sir, deserve that car ! Great job.
Modifying factory parts is the best way to respect the original look of the car

he left the other intake manifold like that with glue. was dissapointed by that

@@THEADZBRADZ it was glued on. By God knows what glue they used. A chunk of the hard glue residue could fall into the cams and cause damage. He should have opened it and replaced with an open gasket

I am looking forward to seeing you and your car around Frankfurt on the A3 or A5
The E38 is one of my dream cars. Unfortunately I would only have one being your friend and living close to you. Being your friend is no problem, but since I live in Brazil, the second condition would be a bit complicated to accomplish. 🤣🤣 Congrats. Great job on the car and video. Greetings from São Paulo.
Get one, a Bentley’s workshop manual, and learn how to work on it. The people that hated these cars and think that they’re money pits, are those that chose to take them to someone to fix, except those someones were mechanics that glue valve covers on. It’s just better to learn about your car, and learn to do it right by watching guys like this. They’re not for everyone, they are aging cars, but if you have the passion for them, and acquire the necessary skills to keep up with all the things that break, and to do it properly, there’s no reason you can’t have one. They’re not as expensive to keep up with, if you treat them like they should be.
Hey, I've been following this project since the first episode was uploaded. All I want to say is: Wow, I'm really glad you were the one who picked up this 750. You were exactly the owner this car needed to be resurrected, after all the hack jobs/mechanics that were working on it prior! This episode was really my favorite of the bunch, seeing how far she's come and finally passing inspection. Your attention to detail is outstanding. This is a similar reason why I decided to start working on my cars myself- I simply don't trust a mechanic to put this much careful work into a job. This E38 is very lucky you came along and saved her from rotting in the desert. Wishing you many happy miles of autobahn runs after you get the plates!
Many thanks!

In 1987 when these were new I was a sacker. In wealthy Texas Neighboorhoods people like me would take the groceries to a persons car from the cashier. I remember that I watched a housewife park this awesome ride and I made a mental note to make sure I was the one who brought her groceries out. When I did it I told her how much I liked it and she rewarded me with a huge tip😀
I watched your whole channel in the last week I can’t get enough. I’ve an e38 myself and the standard of car you make is amazing!
The standard is fairly low considering I've seen him use some very low quality parts. Edit: It's obviously not, just still giving him a hard time for using such a garbage part.
@MrCarGuy20, stop writing stupid stuff and take your expert opinions and hatred elsewhere.
@@M539Restorations No hatred, bud. Nothing stupid about it. The stupid thing is you can't bring yourself to admit you made a mistake using certain parts. If you understand how suspension bushings interact you wouldn't use OE for some and bottom-rung Chinesium for another. Just trying to bring it to your attention. Looks like it worked.
You managed to piss me off if that's your goal cause you're spreading false stuff. I spent nearly 2k on the suspension for this car buying TRW and Lemforder parts. I already explained stupid Febst bushings and not going to do it again. I repeat, keep your expert opinions to yourself.
MrCarGuy20 you clearly haven’t watched all of his videos. With nearly every part that goes in (if not every part) he explains where it came from and the brand. He also explains why this brand is the best suited. It’s beyond me that you can’t see that no penny was spared in any of the restoration videos that are on this channel. There is no need to bring negativity in when you clearly don’t have the knowledge in this area. No need to be writing this nonsense
Could we get a price breakdown after the build is completed? Car price and parts? Thanks!!

Brilliant, what a great way to start the day. Haha I actually said “yay” out loud when I saw you and released a new video.🥳
Omg, finally I met someone who as obsessed with cars as me. I took my E46 into another level of detailing/rebuilding including the engine. Overall it cost me like 7-8k euros and at the end of the day I'm a bit scared to drive that car on an urban street where it's a big of a chance that someone might just run into your car and ruin it completely and the insurance company just say "Alright here's your 2000 euros for your old BMW - go buy a new one"
That is exactly what happened to me just a couple weeks ago on my 07 Audi Q7 which I've owned since new and only has 68K miles. It was time to do some updating to it to give it the S-Line look and I spent $6K+ on paint work, interior and exterior replacement/upgrades and larger 21" rims & tires. Once it was complete 2 weeks later an older woman rear ended me! The insurance company would NOT pay to fix the car! All that work was a complete waste! The insurance settlement is hardly enough to buy a replacement! I'm out a car and paying for someone else's negligence...ARGHHH!!!
Have it appraised, so your insurance actually pays you more if it gets wrecked. Your premium probably will go up for that specific car, but it's worth it.
Justin Roiland hey man I feel the same way! I’ve already spent $6000 US on my 2001 740i m sport and I am the one working on it haha I still have a lot to do to get it done but it’s all about what you really like and enjoy working on your own car.
@@Swordie100 Yeah we pushed the insurance company multiple times for a higher valuation of the car with comparisons and receipts of all the work done. After weeks of back and forth they eventually settled on an amount that would cover repairing the car. After 2 months from the incident I picked up the car yesterday and forgot how good the car looked after all the upgrades I had done. The car was nicely polished and gleaming in the sun, it looked fresh off the showroom floor. Very happy that I was able to get the car fixed and not sent to auction.

I thought that I was the only one who cussed and shouted when fixing my cars! Jumped on crappy aftermarket bits and wished some hopeless previous mechanics dead! I think you're are rapidly becoming a hero for me. Can't wait for you to hurtle down an autobahn in that V12 M39. I ran a 1998 M39 Touring from new for 15 years. If the driver's side folding mirror is slow almost certainly the gears are dry that side too. All four electric windows failed on my E39 due to the acetal plastic pulleys breaking up. Wrong material for that application. I'd be checking all four window mechanism pulleys for cracks - before they broke. Then I'd be making replacements in 30% glass filled nylon. Mechanisms made by Brose.

@bittercottoncandy Camel hoof.
I know it's bad but hay it's not leaking
When my E38 left me stranded in some remote holiday resort, with a severely leaking water pump, I found out the hard way that contact glue was used to seal the two o rings that seal on the two water pipes that run to and from the rear of the engine. You can imagine how much fun that was. M62 engine btw.
