In this wrestling moves video, Bo Nickal teaches the Houdini wrestling technique.
Wrestling Fanatics was started by a pair of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts, Michael Zenga and Bernardo Faria who have a passion for all things grappling.

    • @@thecasuallongsword Yeah I was thinking the same thing but it's really quite a bit different, since there you're trying to lift the opponent across you and sweep whereas here you move under the opponent and come out the back.

  • That's pretty cool, Bo...but indeed a big extend with sliding home to an instantaneously thereafter explosiveness on that backdoor change direction, as I think I would be reactive subconsciously with a knuckle cross-face since wondering why I was atypically too high and not feeling you try to face me in such a situation. Still, you are Bo Nickal. Best of Luck this year if the virus doesn't plank everybody....

    • Not really. LoL. Deep half never works, because the opponent has already stabilized his based. You're just asking to get hammered to oblivion with that cr*p.

  • Dan Henderson used a similar move to KO fedor. Technically the same move but initiated from half guard, and he spun outside the leg vs inbetween the legs like bo is showing here.

  • I like this and will look to drill this. If possible, go watch Cary Kolat videos and see how he records from all angles, slows it down and speed it up. This is what this need. Cool move though!

  • He's not long out of college wrestling yet he knows EVERYTHING. Of course he's now an MMA and I have no objection to him acquiring financial rewards and more acclaim, but I hope he one day returns to college wrestling as a coach. He is a great teacher.

  • BJJ / Judo will definitely give you an edge in Div 1 wrestling because you’ll end up with a deep knowledge of leverage you won’t get with traditional folk style training.

  • I tried this but once the top guy crossfaces me I cant seem to get my head underneath his leg due to the crossface. Am I just doing it wrong or ?

    • Don't forget to roll to your side, as if you're about to give up the position. Eventually you're on your back, so the crossface will have disappeared by that point. And don't forget the explosive part. You can't do this slowly.

  • That’s a nice move but it seems like all you’re doing is giving a top guy too and then reverse them for to yourself so you’re back at square one because once the top guy clips your foot it’s two for him

    • Daniel d'Huart not true top guy is in more control if he clips the leg if the move takes more than 2 or 3 seconds the top guy will get awarded 2 first then Bo would get 2 reversal

    • No, that's why the leg lock is key. It keeps the situation neutral and gives the wrestler leverage to make a scramble situation out of a failed shot

  • Guy defending the shot should grab behind the knee on that leg he gives him, shelf it on his own knee and step through for a leg turk and look for a crossface.

  • I’ve never seen a wrestler grab his opponent’s leg before. This guy needs some aerobic conditioning or breathing exercises. When he’s wrestled a few matches after this first one his conditioning will improve.
