My work in public service used to require quite a bit of double-speak. You can’t just come out and say, “yeah, the lawmakers didn’t think this through or consult the people who actually do the work, so now we have to require you to do something useless.”
oh you worked in CMS

YES! As a data science major this is exactly why a code of ethics was made for data scientists in 2008 after the market crash. Incomplete representations of data were a large part of the issue at the time, and thus the code of ethics was born. I firmly believe it's our job as data scientists to make graphs to really communicate, not for shock value the way so many social media accounts seem to represent their data these days. It never clicked in my head as a form of doublespeak until now!

Like how toothpaste brands say “recommended by 5 out of 5 dentists”, when the dentists were asked for multiple brands. So that toothpaste wasn’t *_the one_* , but simply one of many brands that a dentist would recommend.
This concept is EXACTLY how big pharma gets ALL of their drugs to market. Making it to market, means reducing the presence of reaction of side-affects...by pre-screening volunteers who are less likely to have a side-affect.

The key to doublespeak: always speak reality, always tell the truth. Folks won’t believe you; they will continue to believe what they want to believe regardless of what you tell them. So say what’s real! Just don’t bother arguing too much about it.
Just half of it.
Always tell the truth

No. Romantic and entanglement just makes it worse. What you want to say is: I found this girl suffering from a clinically adverse effect due to the saturated inflammation of epinephrine. She was in a mentally critical condition that required a regulated oxytocin intake lest her lifespan is intermittently chopped short for lack of treatment and administration of the chordae tendineae cords. She had previously suffered a apical ballooning syndrome and needed a pulmonary heart bypass placebo to re-coordinate and connect her testosterone levels with her endocrine system body functions. Honey, she had a 5.30% chance of dying, within the next year, it's lowered now to .07% chance. I have potentially saved a life, she was possibly suffering tremendously because of her condition. I distinctly remember during the 2020 elections, I saw a political ad over and over about someone running for reelection in my state. One of the various things they listed as "reasons you should vote for this guy again!" is that he brought the state's education from being the "the 33rd worst state in the country, to the 27th best" or something along those lines, I don't remember the specifics. @@buffalosolider206 how what
@@buffalosolider206Assuming we're talking US states among the ranking, and not including territories like Puerto Rico, there are 51 "ranking members." That puts the middle point at 25.5 - equally far to the bottom and the top. So if a state is the 33rd _worst,_ we're counting from the _bottom,_ meaning that they're actually _above_ the middle point (at 18th best, in fact). However, the 27th _best,_ that is, counted from the _top,_ is then _below_ the middle point (ie., 24th worst). So they actually dropped a whole _9 rankings_ (27-18 = 33-24 = 9) in the time that guy running for re-election was in office 🙃 - and he's trying to present that as if he actually improved things...
