I feel rougher than a disco lizard tongue along your cheek The rise of the machines I must admit you gave me something momentarily In which I could believe But the hand of harsh reality’s un-gloved And it’s on its way back in to scoop you up But not on my watch [Chorus] I want to stay with you my love The way some science fiction does [Verse 2] Reflections in the silver screen of strange societies Swamp monster with a hard on for connectivity The ascension of the C.R.E.A.M Mass panic on a not too distant future colony Quantitative easing I want to make a simple point about peace and love But in a sexy way where it’s not obvious [Chorus] Highlight dangers and send out hidden messages The way some science fiction does The way some science fiction does [Outro] I’ve got the world on a wire in my little mirror mirror on the wall In the pocket of my raincoat So I tried to write a song to make you blush But I’ve a feeling that the whole thing May well just end up too clever for its own good The way some science fiction does

  • This album is an absolute masterpiece, and in time people will see why. It's one of the finest and most honest music albums i've ever seen, and god it is so, so sad. Just a really depressing piece of beautiful artwork. This song is all about artwork in general, and also about how Alex feels about the world today. He finds that he doesn't fit in at all, because the world is moving in a direction of stupidity and excessive tribalism, all fogging up the actual real evil going on behind the scenes. That's where art comes in, Alex writes his songs to expose that other side of the world, to try and show us all what's actually happening, to try and make it stick with us like some science fiction does. He's saying that we've already entered a completely different era, where science fiction doesn't even compare to what we can do with modern technology, but we've been so caught up with politics and other meaningless things that we didn't even notice.

  • Lyrically, this album and Humbug are their best. I place this before Humbug becuase it has more depth and meaning than Humbug. I think science fiction and ultracheese are among their best-written songs. This particular track and 2 other songs were my least favorite on the album but I’ve recently fallen in love with this one. Maybe, in the future I might come to like first ever monster truck front flip and she looks like fun

    @lorrie9462@lorrie94625 жыл бұрын
    • personally I think that their live version of "she looks like fun" in the late late show is better than the studio version, you should check it out if you haven't already the pace is a bit faster and I think for me that's what makes it better also the studio version from what I remember it sounded like he was just whispering the lyrics which isn't the case with the live version

  • I imagine a world where I make a Netflix exclusive about 2 spy partners in a sci-fi cyberpunk world eventually falling for each other throughout the series. And after the first episode wraps up, this plays alongside the show's intro sequence which serves as the first episode's credits but the intro of every episode afterward.
