At this point, if I was Jonathan Ferguson here, I'd really be feeling some massive resentment to COD gunsmith makers to the very core!! These cursed guns hasn't done this man any favors!
The abyss clearly stared back at Johnathan
he was simply not made for these stresses.
The abyss is no longer staring back, it is creeping ever closer.
He seems sad 😞

I think he should just stick to being an Assassin/hitman then
9:20 "I just don't understand the whole model of releasing a realistic shooter and then it devolving over time inevitably into something that's just not. I just I don't get it." We've been wondering this for a while now.

Any original CoD fan with a brain would think like this.

Jonathan is absolutely correct on the "bald eagle" sound. It is a Red-tailed hawk scream. Bald Eagles sound more like a classic sea gull.
exactly, he surprised me with the clutch ornithology knowledge, more and more reasons to love this man

That "uhh" when he reached for the Evo.... I think Jonathan is gonna be making that his emotional support Evo soon
He had his support CZ at the ready 😂

I honestly thought they were gonna bring up the reloading animation. The gun it's based on has a side swing-out tray, instead of a trop tray.

Fun fact about the Bacon Power TAQ-V: That skin appears to be based on the Porsche 917/20 "Pink Pig" race-car, a Le Mans race-car which had a livery that looked just like this paint-job. I imagine the additional stickers are somewhat like sponsor-stickers found on such racing liveries, too.
True, would have figured Johnathan would be a car guy since those hobby-groups usually overlap
jyj
Huh. I learned something today. Also now adding another point into my belief that more furries are into car culture than not, as the crossover I've seen is only growing.
You can see pretty much that design as a poster in many butcher's shops, though (which is what the Porsche livery was based on), so it might not have come from the car, but direct from the shop wall. [shrug]
Yep, definitely based on the Pink Pig.
His Royal Highness looked for His Keeper of Firearms the next day - and found the poor chap disconsolately huddled in a corner; hugging the Museum's entire collection of emotional support MP5's muttering "that video game gun, those waifus, the teeth - the teeth!"

I had no idea COD had gone this far off the deep end. Fun to watch from a distance, but playing this would probably give me a migraine

Essentially no difference between CoD and Fortnite aesthetically at this point. Its funny they obviously have children as their target audience with these skins yet the game is PEGI 18😂

The pink SCAR is definitely based upon an old famous race car. The Porsche 917/20 which raced back in 1971, racing in endurance races such as the 24 hours of Le Mans. It's a cult classic and is known as the "pink pig". If you look up pictures, it's very clearly based on it!
It's also just a butchers diagram of a pig

@@whitehuayra absolutely and that's what the car was based on, it's obviously going to resemble both, but for me (and other racing car fans) I see that design and think of the Porsche livery, particularly as the colour and font is very similar

Jonathan makes a great point in that Call of Duty used to not have these. Like, even the more egregious earlier CoDs generally just had colorful skins and smiley faces as reticles on your red dot, and then at some point the microtransactions just made them lose the plot.

Please Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, break down the weapons from *METAL GEAR SOLID 3* before the remake comes out. So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like the Patriot's infinite ammo magazine, the EZ tranq gun, Snake's customized officer M1911A1, Snake whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC, Ocelot's SAA juggling skills, The End's paratrooper tranquilizer Mosin Nagant, the Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher and Eva's chinese Type 17 mauser clone with her "bandit shooting" technique. There are so many more other interesting trivias and weapons in MGS3 so please Dave and Johnathan, please consider making a video for the MGS3.
I think MGS5 is the only one they've done. Might as well go through 1, 2, 3 and 4 chronologically, tons of content left in that series. MGS3 is the obvious choice, but I'd be very interested in MGS4.
gkgk
I could swear they did MGS3, I remember him talking about the Patriot and Eva's Chinese Mauser, but maybe not. I do want to see him go over MGS4 though, that game has highly accurate recreations of an arsenal of firearms, which seems like a waste because the game is third person you rarely see the weapons up close, you can complete the game only using less than half a dozen of them, and the game has a bunch of sci-fi elements.
IIRC Jonathan said that he wants to play the Metal Gear games first. When will that happen? Nobody knows. Also the decision lies with GameSpot.
yio
The bacon scar looks like a Porsche race car livery that they used awhile ago
Came here to say that. It definitely looks like the pink pig 935/78.
1970's 917. A genuine classic german humor.
Good eye! It's a reference to that very same car and livery.
jyj
It's also a just a pig diagram. 917 is an S tier car don't get me wrong. But the livery is just a diagram that was and is used by itself, separate from the car. It's just a pig diagram not necessarily a nod to the porsche(they just both use the same diagram as a livery) unless the game specifies otherwise. I don't plan to play it
11:28 “note the lack of video game”-Johnathan Ferguson
14:56 "Hello Darkness my old friend"
I'm not really surprised, considering what he was currently dealing with, but Jonathan forgot to mention that the Evolvys in MWIII has a top-opening feed cover, despite the extremely prominent, black on top of baby diarrhea brown side-opening feed cover the gun was *_designed around_* being right there.
yea would have been fun to see Dave show him that, lul him into a false sense of security before showing the true curse! "oh, so thats why its cursed, theyve broken the gun. well thats not as bad as i was expecting given what weve already see- oh there it is!!!"
Id actually think a series where Johnathan reviews the guns of animes like vash's revolvers in trigun or the guns used in Black lagoon or alucards pistols in Hellsing. I'd love a series like that.
I second this.
Personally I’d be more interested in him talking about wolfwoods punisher rather than vash’s .45 long colt.

14:38 "The abyss returns even the boldest gaze"
I won't lie, i was genuinely speechless when i saw the anime girl animation.
15:20 That's something I never once expected to hear. Not just that anime has faithful representations of firearms, but "in all media". A country that won't even let you buy a hunting rifle has the media containing some of the most faithful representations, but the US seems to struggle with the concept. Fascinating.

Interesting!
Fun fact: Porsche did a homage of the 917/20 Pink Pig livery for one of their 911 RSR's, back in 2018, and it happened to win its class at Le Mans that year. Maybe Porsche should paint their cars in butchers' diagrams more often 😅

@ 7:20 that SCAR skin is actually an homoge to a Porsche. I believe it was the 962 but that could be wrong. They raced at le mans with the car painted like that, and the livery is in the later Forza Horizon games

The tubes. Whether it's large diameter electrical cables or just tubing, this has become a thing. I wouldn't call it a trend, but it happens too often. I bet that you've covered the mysterious tube guns often enough that you could make a pretty funny montage of Jonathon's reaction to this hilarious feature from past episodes.
Fun fact: The TAQ-V Bacon Power paintjob ( 7:01 ) imitates an IRL paintjob! Alas, it's not for a gun, but for a race car: The infamous "Pink Pig" Porsche 917/20 who raced at the 1971 "24 Hours of Le Mans", also known as the "Big Bertha" among other nicknames.
You didn’t even show the worst part of CoDs FN Evolys, it’s a top cover opening LMG instead of the real life side door for loading the belt of ammo
