I want Jonathan to voice a gunsmith in a video game except he doesn't get a script and we just get to hear him talk about guns
This would be perfect.
@@th3lonef0x4 Right? I'd like to see a weaponsmith or gunsmith in a game that is more than just a shady character with a husky voice. More along the lines of a genuinely cheery person that appreciates firearms
@@fridgegaming1544 Not exactly a gunsmith, but Nico from Devil May Cry 5 is an arms maker and fits the criteria pretty well!
He just roasts you about how impractical your weapon would be IRL
@@Atomsk0192 Yesss, him commenting on your custom gun in a sentence or two would be sick.
What a great way to end the year by rekindling Jonathan's traumatic memories
OOWF...
To be honest, last year was worse than those things
Quickly, someone get his emotional support sturmgewehr!
Therapists have to make a living somehow.
I was expecting this to just be entirely about Vanguard
Me too, but that’s got an entire cursed guns vid of its own. The rest of the worst need some play.

I'll never get over the fact that Mr. Jonathan has one of the coolest job title in modern times, "The keeper of firearms"
keeper of firearms AND artillery, you mean
@@technoturnovers7072 He's too powerful with that badass title 😂
That’s exactly why I wanna become a historian
He's an INCREDIBLE person to work with from a researchers pov.
"The gun nerd".
Some say that a small part of Jon dies inside every time he reviews guns like this.
Yup. Have the same thoughts too
That's why he has his emotional support stg-44 and mp5a3 regularly to hand.
I wish that in that Borderlands 3 video they'd let Jonathan see and comment on the game's gun manufacturer's designs and their philosophies and stuff instead of just showing him some absurd legendaries.
Same with Killing Floor 2. There are a lot of well-animated, well-modelled guns, as well as subtle differences like 'faster reload' animations actually being different, more professional reload techniques, yet all they really showed off was the sci-fi stuff
like tediore
@@breezy3176i feel like jakobs would be more to his taste
@@MikanTsumikiTV yeah not sure why they decided to show him the tommyboom with a horzine skin slapped onto it instead of the default. This entire series leaves out so much context so often, but it's still entertaining.
Hehe. Would love to see his opinion on Torgue xD
I'd love to see Jonathan review the "firearms" from Stuffed, which is a treasure of a game that's in early access where you play a teddy bear using improvised weapons to shoot nightmares.
"look how they massacred my boy" sums up the whole video 🤣
I quote that often because it's one of my favorites. Last time I said it was when my brother and I watched doom annihilation and saw the imp for the first time
Everyone that had a hand in making this series deserves a raise and I hope Johnathan got a session in with his emotional support StG-44 after making this video.
I'm glad Jonathan decided to continue doing these reactions ever since those first few episodes over 2 years ago. He's made them incredibly insightful and entertaining.
If his career as a weapons expert ever fizzles out, he’s totally got a future playing Dr. Who.
IKR , hes a masive sci fi nerd too, look ALL THOSE SHIPS in the backround in 10:05 , thats awsome to see
He just looks like David Tennant...who was the best doctor.
No emotional support Sturmgewehr this time lol
Madness: Project Nexus has a class called the Tinkerer that lets you make some absolutely _rancid_ guns. Most people end up with either rifles that double as flagpoles, or an incomprehensible mass of plastic and metal that happens to have a pistol grip hidden inside it.
It has a 9 in the name because that's the size of the shoe
The "tactical Tupperware" comment killed me. I laughed so hard I ended up coughing

Tactical bean holder
The R8 revolver in Counter Strike: Global Offensive needs to be cocked before every shot, but the trigger can be pulled partway without firing. I guess Jonathan would love that gameplay mechanic. Even though only silvers and pros use this pistol, everybody seems to know about that mechanic.
He actually did notice that, iirc. Although I think he focused more on the "hammer fanning" fire mode.
Jonathan truly is the MVP of the channel, happy new year everyone
There's just something so satisfying about the way he points out that the buttstock is a boot. The idea itself feels like something out of a cartoon, and he's just so sincere about it, I love it!
I can understand why Gamespot would want to keep these in their main channel, but if possible creating a secondary channel just for these "expert reacts" videos would be great and I would instantly subscribe to it. Right now I just can't justify to myself subbing to the Gamespot channel since there's so much stuff that gets uploaded that I'm not interested in. Thankfully KZhead still does a good enough job of recommending these videos with Jonathan where I rarely miss one, but unfortunately I don't always catch the loadout videos until much later. Thanks for all the great videos regardless, and happy new year to Jonathan, Dave, and the rest of the Gamespot crew who make this series so great!
The fact that you didn’t add the Unending Magnificent clip from Borderlands 3 is a sin. For sure my favorite Jonathan meltdown 😂
These weapons actually made Johnathan visibly age…
The p90 is a reference to a sub character for sword art online that ran a pink p90
P chan
Sword art online, eugh 😔
And I'm sure P-chan was inspired by Henrietta from Gunslinger Girls.
@@md_vandenberg the earliest P90 I remember being pictured in an anime was in Ghost in the Shell but not as a signature weapon
Kinda Wrong, its not a sub character, its a Main Character of her own Series.
Surely the Casanova P90 is a reference to Sword Art's "P-Chan"
They should do guns from bullet storm, and sunset overdrive
I don't remember anything special about Bulletstorm weapons tbh beside driller ofc
@@SpecShadow I had a lot of fun with the grenade launcher with a alt fire shot that has the grenade explode when it bounces, and you can kick it around while it's exploding, or the gun that shoots what are essentially Bolas with explosives on the end, letting you wrap up an enemy then detonate the explosives
I would like to see Jonathan react to the weapons of Warframe and for David to react to the melee weapons of Warframe in 2023
Absolutely
I honestly have to wonder what's going to hurt him more. The more realistic guns or the more fantastical guns?
@@FieryKitsune1 maybe he can handle it, he has reacted to the guns of destiny 2
Warframe's guns will break him more than vanguard 😂
Show him the Soma and just... Watch his confusion.
16:44 This actually points toward how a more realistic 'turbo' system for ballistic firearms could work in a video game - the guns could use a _freeze_ (coolant) charge, that you could insert into the mechanism to cool it down briefly, and if the gun is designed with some sort of electric ignition or electrothermal-chemical ignition then for as long as it's cooled it could change the ignition profile to release more energy than it can normally handle. Sort of like overclocking the gun for a short period.
I love how Jonathan is unofficially a videogame commenter now as well as a museum curator.
For 2023 y’all should throw in some more VR games, ones like H3 or Into the Radius have very interesting physical firearm operation.
Thanks for watching & congratulations you have been selected for my giveaway🎁🎁, because it's your lucky day. Kindly message for more information.
You'll be happy to know they've actually done Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand-Grenades. Two, actually! But yeah, I'd love to see more VR games shown - AND I'd love to see Jon with the VR headset using those virtual guns himself, versus just watching footage.
I've seen them do some H3VR stuff previously, the player who took the footage was clueless and mounted some optics backwards and nonsense like that. Well, H3VR won't stop you from that kind of user error...
Been using boneworks with my vive pro 2, never been better!
I'm slightly surprised The Spiffing Bot showed up. I've only ever seen these spammers comment on the channel they're pretending to be. GameSbot would have a better chance.
Not calling it a Weeb 90 was a missed opportunity.
The only person that keeps this channel relevant. You’re the man Jonathan

reguarding the last gun, i think theoretically they thought it would work in a way that the barrel is cooled (the steam from the handguard) and the bullets fire normally but in the way to the barrel travels THROUGH the thermite grenade (i can see a hole in the middle of it when the shooter loads it) and this would somehow work......though shooting a super-thermite heated round trough a zero degre barrel sounds like the quick temprature change wuld rather just the whole mess go "KA-Boom" instead :P
I really want to see Jonathan break down the guns from The Order 1886
I think you guys should show him Resonance of Fate's gun customization system for an April Fool's joke. While it doesn't show on the guns in game model the sheer ridiculous amount of parts you can put on it would be perfect for him to look at. I'm talking barrels attached to barrels, sights attached to sights, magazines attached to magazines, sights attached to magazines, barrels attached to foregrips... you see where I'm going with this. Just grab some screenshots of late game customization and show him.
I wonder if Jonathan has seen enough cursed guns that he could design the Ultimate cursed gun: The most cursed gun ever designed by man.
7:21 I guess Jonathan hasn't noticed that the front sight isn't even used. You can see it in the lower right corner of the ring.
The workplace stress is palpable
Love the show! Happy new year Jonathon, Dave, and the Royal Armouries/Gamespot teams!
To answer the sci-fi science of the rampage LMG (that really isn't any science... I think) The normal way that the rampage works is the thermite connectors are connected to themselves in normal barrel operation making a slow rate of fire as the gas can only push back the bolt with the cartage combustion pressure. In comes the thermite grenade. During the inspect you can see the thermite holder and the gas tube below it. The thermite grenade hollow core is lined up with the barrel which opens and locks on to either end allowing the round to go through it and break open the covers on the ends. The grenade slowly burns heating up the gas more after the bullet passes and increases the pressure further. This increase pressure throws back the bolt hard enough to meet the maximum compression of the spring quicker and cause the next round to be chambered faster, increasing the rate of fire. The vents on the front let off the excess pressure and heat generated between the grenade and covers, so that the temperature is not so high that is melts any of the components its near. And the weapon is bullpup style to keep the rounds themselves far away from the heat to prevent cookoff.
The pink p90 is trying to replicate the gun from gun gale online a spin-off of sword art online
With Jonathan having a breakdown over the DMT I'd love to see his reaction to the changing Revision Zero.
10:08 "This game is really taxing my brain. Which is probably an indicator I should switch it off..." He's understood Destiny without even playing it.
I would love to see Jonathan talk about the "Receiver" series. Would be a good relief from bad and cursed stuff
It’s cool to look back through the year. I’ll be heading to the royal armouries museum in Leeds tomorrow
This series has been like Saturday morning cartoons!
HAHAHA... Jonathan is PHENOMENAL, and his extreme disappointment in the BugerTown Classic is absolutely Hilarious.

I think the tommy gun sticks around because people just always want to use a Chicago Typewriter on their enemies. In futurama, Robot Santa had a laser tommygun.
love these videos. Wish they were longer though
Poor Jonathan...I swear, if my BFF and I ever found that game dev studio like we’ve always talked about doing, I’m going to insist we at least have him come in for a day to go over whatever arsenal we come up with in order to iron out the more egregious issues with weapon design that our art team comes up with.
I love Jonathan; he looks at all guns in video games and breaks them down functionality wise whole giving a sense of gun logical and proper gun training. Could you imagine a person who makes video game weapons to handle a gun in real life? Its pretty scary,
The video we've been waiting for all year
If it's not too far out of his wheelhouse, I'd love to see Jonathan take a look at the early modern firearms and artillery of Warhammer Fantasy games.
Happy new year from south Asia :P and thanks for a compilation of all gun nerd pain with Johnathon xD
Ah! A fellow MP5 fan. Lovely gun.
The one thing i find cursed is johnathan skull curtains. I want them 💀
Two things worth noting: The Dead Man's Tale from Destiny 2 was made as a custom ornamental rifle in the lore. It was meant to be as fancy and over-the-top as possible. The Rampage from Apex Legends seems to have a 2-piece barrel, with the front part extending forward as the gun opens up. The thermite grenate put into the gun has an open core in which the barrel inserts into when reassembled. This means the front barrel gets heated up, but the rear barrel, which contains the round before it gets fired, does not.
I never needed something more then this video

As a heavy DMT user in d2 I feel called out lol
I absolutely lost it laughing at 6:38 , bravo!
Between the previous cursed guns video and this one, it seems like Escape from Tarkov's main design aesthetic was "How can we make our guns as offensive as possible to firearms experts in ways that are physically possible IRL with enough accessories?" while Call of Duty veers between "it's trying to be a real thing but they didn't get *any* of the details right" and more of a viscerally horrifying "WHAT WERE THE DESIGNERS ON?" route.
The Tron-ny Gun
I love that EM-2 in the background, really cool rifle to have on display!
Lovely video and somes up the weird world of cursed weapons. However there is something within me wants Janathan to react to the wonderfully weird weapons of Splatoon 3, I would love to see him try and work out what each of the weapons are based off of and figue out how they would work.
So zach hazard and Jonathan walk into the bar but find a pancor jackhammer
Happy new year Johnathan and all.
Jonathan's back must be absolutely wrecked from carrying this channel!
Was pleasantly surprised to see a young Jonathan in a segment of an episode of Forbidden History on vampires from 2016 :DD
I think looking at stalker Gamma’s weapons would be really cool! Theyre pretty detailed and can also jam with some cool animations! Love the videos
love the cursed gun segments :D
I'd like to see Jonathan Ferguson to react to Häkke weapons from Destiny 2, particular the autorifles and the pulse rifle.
There needs to be more of these at the royal armouries, I went recently and it’s mostly mideval armour and polearms a heck of a lot of plolearms
I adore his initial reaction to the Burger Town Classic 😂
Thanks for the video. I'd like to see Jonathan's take on Planetside 2 guns, please.
Wouldn’t mind him taking a look at Primal Carnage Extinction’s Flamesaw. It’s, well, a flamesaw.
Despite being a clip show episode, I still make this the 16th straight week of asking for an episode on Bullet Girls Phantasia.
"Not a fan of modefying a Thomson to make it futuristic" he loves the pulse rifle from aliens and that is a heavely modefied Tommy gun.
10:10 Are those Star Trek (amongst others) ship models in the background ?, Nice 👍
His shirt has a Starfleet logo...
Top left: An old Enterprise, maybe TOS, to the left of it: best guess "Defiant"? (Also Star Trek) The others: I have no clue. Don't look like Star Trek designs I would recognize. If they are, they are from a movie or TOS not big fan of that one.
Jonathan Furguson, Gamespot's Yahtzee.
10:10 that is quite baller of a curtain right there, really fit his demeanor & personal charms.
Only caught this on the rewatch but the porta pooper doesn't even use the front sight. It's a self contained unit at the back with a "front" post a few inches away from a rear spider

Did he cover the Tommy's Matchbook in his Destiny episodes? That Thomson-In-Space variant literally sets you on fire to do more damage.

I liked that you showed the comparison to the real weapon e.g. MP5, but was very confused about what was being said where you didn't, e.g. P90.
This is my first time seeing this guy and i can tell he is nerdy cus of his background but he is in some distress when talking about these guns. I am delighted
jonathan is the goat and i love to watch his videos!!
Has Jonathan ever reacted to the guns the dward in Vermintide 2 has access to? Especially the Mastercrafted Handgun?
You should show him Fistful of Frags. I want to know just how realistic those long reloads are.
I have a Ruger Redhawk .44 magnum. I'm pretty sure that if I fan it, It's only going to fire once, but I'll test that next time I bring it to a range. Surprisingly, the 9.5" bull barrel has so much entropy that it doesn't kick as hard as some of my compact or built for concealment 9mms.
Please do cod zombies wonder weapons I can't for Jonathan's reactions and wondering (no joke intended) how it works
The P90 mods have been made standard in MW2022...how low has it become...
For anyone wondering what the pink gun at 3:40 says: "Key Code: Cutest Model (used incorrectly, as in miniature model) Machine Gun".
I would love to see Jonathan react to playing some VR gun games, e.g. Boneworks, Zerop Caliber, Onward and Pavlov. I think this would bring a new angle to theser videos.
Do SAO Fatal Bullet and COD Advanced Warfare
Ah, yes, Single Action Only (SAO): quality anima
I would LOVE to see John see the gun mechanics in Receiver 2; while super niche, it'd be absolutely perfect for him, since it goes out of it's way to make the guns painfully realistic, with jamming and feeding the magazines by hand, and misfires when holstering ur gun
10:34 Where did you get those drapes... i love them.
