Sports broadcaster Don Cherry called the Carolina Hurricanes "a bunch of jerks" for their 'Storm Surge' celebrations after victories on home ice during the regular season: abc11.tv/2LlwghT
Can you imagine what will happen if the Canes win the cup? First Ovechkin and the Caps win a cup....now Carolina is hot? He's going to explode.

Jackson yeah. It’s helped grow our fanbase again. 16,905 average this season (2019-20) and 12 sellouts. That’s amazing For Carolina. 42% increase since before Dundon became owner and 18% increase from last season
I dont see what the big deal is. It's not like they are doing this everytime they score a goal. It's after the game ends so like who cares? If i were a Carolina fan i probably would just not watch the post game celebrations because i think they are corny but I'd have no problem with then doing it.
I wish they'd pretend to be a bowling ball strike everytime they scored lol

Hey, I'm a Canadian, played hockey. I think the Canes are great, as most other Canadians do. Cherry knows his hockey, but a bit long in the tooth. Do what ever you guys want , have fun doing it. GO CANES. !!! 🍻🇨🇦😎

Its obvious why Don said this, Hockey is the entertainment. They're professional hockey players. The players have finished what they are suppose to do, play hockey. Now it's their time get on the ice. These fans know nothing of hockey. Their job is done its time 4 them to go home. No-one like to stay late. They have families.
Well gee man. I didn't know this was supposed to be a strict league, all work and no play. I get what you're saying. It's a professional league. You play to win. I understand that. But these happen once the job is done. Once that clock hits zero, then the players and fans can do as they please. If they want to have a little more fun, who is anyone to deny them. Theyre only celebrating a win, not getting drunk or high on the ice. How about you just loosen up. Not everything has to be "professional". I don't mind the celebrations, I think they're quite fun, and I'm not even a die hard Caniac, im just a neutral fan waiting for the Coyotes to move to Houston
If nothing else but to prove Cherry wrong , win the cup Canes. Hopefully the refs don't screw up.

Just seeing this now... And I dont know who will see this in the future... But I would just like to say: I am SO GLAD my Boston Bruins swept the Canes in the Eastern Confrence finals. It was so fitting that the last game of their season was a shut-out. "Four-Nothing the score, And four-nothing the Series" - Mike 'Doc' Emerick.
For those who have never been to Raleigh, NC for a Hurricane game! During the season, you will see between 8,000 to 9,000 fans at a game. Almost half of those fans are for the Canes opponent. Why so many fans from other hockey towns, because the arena is empty for games and the price of tickets are cheap! If fans from other cities didn't show up for games, you would see 5,000 Cane fans in the arena! The only time they fill the seats is when they make the playoffs. Hurricane fans are BANDWAGON FANS who could care less about hockey because they are big into college sports! The owner sold the team because he was losing a ton of money. There was talk of even moving the team.
Clarence Korabek actually, he was bankrupt and was being sued by his own children. Attendance is back up into the 17,000s. 12 sellouts. One of them was even vs the Devils who have an attendance issue recently.
THe point of the matter was that Peter Karmanos stabbed the Hartford and CT fans behind their backs. Hartford Whalers had a supportive fanbase and Karmanos made it difficult by taking away multigame packages for fans, therefore raising the ticket prices, and when that happened, it became a lot harder for the fans to support the team, even during the 1996-97 season, Karmanos moved the team despite the high attendance, and Hartford hasn't an NHL franchise not because of the market and the fan support, but a gutless owner who was hellbent on destroying hockey in Hartford and CT and an NHL commisioner who only cares about making money, not cultivating the sport!

Thank you Gary Buttman!!!!!!! The most exciting Cup final in the last 23 years was the Vancouver Canucks (Remember Pavel Bure???) vs New York Rangers, and Buttman even gave the New Yorkers extra time to rest...
