"Unpreofessional? It's a SPORTS team fer chrissakes. This is how you engage the fans and have fun. I've been following hockey for 44 years, (when there were only 18 teams, before the WHA merge and Gretzky and when bench-clearing brawls were still a thing) and this is great to see. Trust me, this will go a long way to bringing more lifelong Carolina fans to hockey.

Well, having a team on the verge of the playoffs certainly helps. That's something that isn't exactly common in Raleigh.
@@CreightonRabs yeah you are right but attendance was up all season in part of this so it's working and bring fun back into the game. their kids who said hockey had to be boring and generic. I'm not a fan and enjoy the surges on the news.

As a Jets fan, I gotta tip my cap to the Canes. This surge revitalized a team, made old heads saltier than the Dead Sea and it has become a joy to watch. Hold on to that WC spot, Canes!

Also hope for your Jets that Laine starts playing hockey and not video games...his hockey is terrible and even worse on defence, love the kid when he is playing but someone has got to talk to him he's throwing away his talent and potential it's hard to watch.

I am old school hockey guy and I think it has helped the teams popularity. No one ever talked about hurricanes much before. If fans like it then keep putting on the show.
Hockey Alley Funny thing is Vegas can put on these cheesy shows in the playoffs but Canes do like a 2 minutes fun thing at the end of the games and it’s a big issue

I’m from Raleigh and go to about 5 games a year but this year and the atmosphere there has been crazy and fun and people in North Carolina are starting to care about hockey again

Yup! The goodwill bled over to the Checkers as well. I played for the Jr Checkers back in 94-96, and have been going to games since. I have NEVER seen Hockey this popular in Charlotte, let alone NC. Record setting attendances as well as some of the loudest games I've been to (outside of PNC of course). It's been great! Jerks or not, I love em!

There's nothing amateur about it. It's entertainment. No other team in the NHL does this and they don't have to pay a cent to do it. Love this! It gets the fans interacting, by far the best celebrations I've watched.

I think this is great, the fans love it, they're having fun, there's not harm. And the fact that the whole franchise has fully leaned into it is just awesome.
This team is one of the tightest groups in the NHL because of things like this. I really like the Hurricanes as they are heading into the playoffs. They are just having so much fun, which is honestly kind of scary for whoever they end up playing. I could see them being a tough out. Don't know if they will win a round or not, but they will definitely put up a heck of a fight.

In Europe such postgame celebrations are very common and it contributes positively to the atmosphere of a game. I would encourage other teams to also pick up this habbit.

I'm a Bruins fan but I loved these celebrations. It grew hockey in Carolina. It brought new fans into it. That's what you want. Few fans to see how great hockey is. And grow the sport and fandom. And they accomplished that.

See Burke and Cherry have it wrong from the start. Athletes, like it or not, are in a way, entertainers. They have a job to get people into the seats and I think they did it. Could you imagine how good it would be for the league if they got Carolina as a good market? Jeez.

What Cherry and the other guy (Burke?) don’t understand is that this is team building as well as fan engagement. It helps the team gel better and have more camaraderie, AND it helps the fans feel closer to the team! I like it!

I’m a capitals fan and I went to a capitals vs hurricanes game in December 2019 and I loved seeing the storm surge after the game and the fact that the hurricanes do this and the fact that I live in North Carolina is the reason why the hurricanes are my second favorite team

I’m not a canes fan. I live in Raleigh but grew up In Pittsburgh. So I’m a pens fan and hate the hurricanes but love these celebrations and the bunch of jerks storm surge and have gotten to see a few of them in person this year.
Penguins fan here, This is probly the coolest thing in hockey I’ve seen. I wish every team had their own team win celebration that includes the audience. Good for Carolina.

Hey EVERYBODY. As an ACTUAL HURRICANES FAN for almost 2 decades from North Carolina, and I just just wanna say LOL HAHAHA AND EGG-ON-FACE OWNED... AND last but not least THANKS. As current season ticket holder (on hold cause of Covid of course) Not only have those pundits gave our Franchise a brand to sell #BunchOfJerks but gave us a reason to keep having fun as a team and a city and a state(s) fan base has been revitalized in hockey by THE SURGE. WINNING comes first. The SURGE is the reward to the fans and the team for a win at home... Makes sense.
