We visited the Wildlife Heritage Foundation in Kent which is home to some of the most endangered big cats in the world. Using enrichment techniques developed by the big cat keeper, we looked at the cats agility, intelligence and strength before crowning a winner.

The tiger was more than 10 feet (3.0 metres) long, over 4 feet (120 centimetres) feet at the shoulder, had strong shoulders and long teeth and claws, and was agile. The lion looked taller at the head than the tiger, and had a large mane, legs and paws. The tiger was seen as "the personification of graceful strength and supple energy," whereas the lion was seen as the "embodiment of massive power and adamantine muscle". In the fight, both cats sustained injuries, and although the tiger sometimes retreated from Atlas, it would come back to fight it, and in the end, managed to scratch Atlas to death, though Atlas pushed it off in one final move, before dying. The Gaekwad agreed to pay 37,000 rupees, accepted that the tiger was the "King of the Cat Family," decreed that Atlas' body be given a Royal burial, and that the tiger should have a "cage of honour" in the menagerie of Baroda, and decided to prepare the tiger for a battle with a Sierran grizzly bear weighing more than 1,500 lb (680 kilograms). The battle was to happen after the tiger recovered from its wounds.

Tigers can hunt in land, hunt in water, climb trees, jump 10-15 feet high. Absolute monsters, those beasts. Love 'em or hate 'em.
So they just adopted to the environment they live in.. tigers wouldn't survive in Africa as they don't have enough stamina to hunt on long runs

yes, but barbary lions and most asiatic lions are solitary or only live with one mate/hunting mate for their whole lives. only african lions are the most social of all big cats and lion species and even they are seen many times being solitary. some tigers are found being forced to live in groups.
+B robert Good lord Barbary lions are a subspecies of African lion, they're native to Africa, North, Central or South Africa it doesn't matter if it lives in Africa, it's an African lion subspecies. Here are all of the African lion subspecies. Barbary lions, Cape lions, West African lions, Congo Lions, Transvaal lions, Katanga lions, Masai lions and Ethiopian lions.

Draw in agility, lol, make the meat a bit higher and you will see a Tiger can jump to get it, while a lioness can't. Tiger is way more agile in agility department.
i think a lioness is much weaker than a tiger ,but a male lion is stronger than a tiger ,despite the difference in weight. because male lions are more experienced in those type of fights than a tiger. but if they were zoo animals ,i tiger will win,because lion won't have an experience then.
that was for 1 on 1 fight. but for survival and hunting. a lion beats a tiger easily.tigers are solitary and hunt with power not with tactics. a lioness takes the advantage of a wolf type of hunting and the advantage of tiger weight and power. so lions can hunt easily ,they are social animals that stay in packs and they use tactics in hunting like wolves . so in a real life situation ,a lion would win ,more likely because of how they act and not because of their muscles,just like humans..we don't have the muscular power ,but our power is distributed among other things. that's why lion is the king of the forest.

Exactly.. That's how influenced we all are by the media and movies. The concept of the lion being the king of jungle came from africa where there are no tigers in the wild and the lion is the top predator. In simple words both the big cats are magnificent and top predators of the jungle they roam with their only enemy being humans.

Roberto Chinchilla I've searched and studied them. 23 recently weighed adult male Amurs/Siberians averaged 189 kg or so...about the same as lions. The heaviest was about 206 kg, weighed by the Siberian Tiger Project I have 10 more weights of wild Amurs, that show similar numbers. And, all unhealthy specimens were excluded. Hahaha....i've done years of research, and have, for both lions and tigers, hundreds of weights and measurements. They are roughly equal in size.

Just a fun fact , Tigers take down preys like Indian bisons ( Gaur) that are bigger than a African Buffalo. Male Lions can't even match the power of the buffalo, they end up hurt or retrieving. It's scientifically proven that tigers are bigger and stronger, there are even videos of tigers fighting bears for territory, and the tiger winning .

The tiger has nearly 20% more muscle mass, has a bite force of nearly twice that of a lions. Can lift/cart around 0.5 times that of a lion. Has a larger brain and more battle sense and strategy. Is more aggressive. Has way better stealth, is stronger, faster, has better stamina, and the Siberian has thick all around him so basically like the lions mane but everywhere. In short the tiger is supreme

I think the cheetah cubs are the most cool looking of all the big cats cubs. I think the reason is these cubs have the marks on both sides down their cheeks. They look like they are ready to run at anytime with grim face kinda funny to see it on a cub. lol

Adityan Shanker while that’s true. I think if it came down to a fight to the death I’d probably put my money on the Lion 6/10 times. Yes tigers are bigger and stronger (though not by much), but the thing is Tigers are mostly lone animals, they hardly have any natural predators where they live, and they hardly fight other tigers. A Lion on the other hand has to contend with other predators on the African plains, and not only that they have to defend their Pride from other Lions. And they are far more experienced in taking down bigger prey. They basically have to live their whole life on the edge to survive. The way I see it, it would be like a big body builder vs a UFC fighter. Yes the tiger would most likely be bigger and stronger, but the nature and the way of life of the UFC fighter would prevail over the body builder almost all types of physical confrontations. Just my opinion anyway.

I am one of those dislikes I didn't come here to watch them show animals fighting. When they framed it at the start as a competition of agility, strength, and intelligence I anticipated more interesting tests. And what we got was a 0.5/3... I give test 1 half a point because I can't think of a better idea. Test 2 would have been a point if they could had used a lioness since they were using a female tiger AND been bothered to more than one take when the lion meat came right off invalidating it entirely. Test 3 they should have provided them with something like a large Kong toy like for dogs, something they have to actually work on...
When I dislike a video it's usually to teach KZhead's algorithm that it shouldn't have recommended a video to me in the first place, but in this case it was because it was just crap. After watching innumerable lion vs tiger videos, I came to conclusion that Tigers are more agile and have a better skill set an apex predator wants. But when it comes to one on with a lion, who will survive and sustain depends on the individual specimen in the bout. Tigers will throw couple of punches before lion even gets into fighting mode, but lion will not back off from the fight as it wired to finish off the opponent in order to save it's pride.. On the other hand tigers avoid that fight till death attitude, they measure each other, exchange few punches and decide who the winner is, as they would not want to hunt with grave injuries. Overall I prefer tiger to lion bcz of its muscle density, bigger brain, water adaptability and lone hunting. But I don't want to put my money on either of them coz both the cats are majestic and shouldn't be put in arena for our entertainment.
in a closed arena where a Tiger has no chance to escape...it would give its 100%...and would knockout the Lion (African or Barbary doesn't matter as far they are pitted against a fit big Royal Bengal Tiger) in few minutes

It if wouldn’t be made to be a "who would win between a lion and a tiger", I could enjoy the experiments at hand. As it is, I would have been better off muting the sound and just enjoying the cats. If the intro had been some silly music or sth to set the mood accordingly those that disliked this video would have probably enjoyed it more. As it is, the video title and intro hyperbole to an ultimate showdown, not a silly joke. I almost didn’t continue to write on as obviously, seeing it as just a bit of fun counters any argumentation. aafaq khan i would agree a full grown amur tiger could kill a full grown African lion but in the wild lions would win they got packs. But the movie didn't get the right test. Hunting and defending are very different. males defend and females hunt. pluss if you raze an animal alone in captivity there naturally gonna be more aggressive and confident. but if you raze them with others they learn social skills so yeah there gonna be less aggressive and confident alone. So know wonder the tiger was confident. Pluss in the wild they half to fight and be aggressive to survive so this only would work with wild animals.
no training tigers by raising them with lions so that they can fun fight them daily until they learn how to not go for the mane. or training tigers by having them fight male lions that dont have fighting experience with maned animals so that way it wouldnt kill the tiger. like for example giving the tiger easy fights for awhile until it can learn to not go for the mane and to build confidence. once the tiger changes its attack style it might be able to defeat all lions trained or not. which might be the explanation of the roman colosseum and royal fights. so yes the hard thing is changing the tigers fighting style so that it can win that way. if u want any tiger to win without changing its fighting style then simply shave the mane off the male lion and its finished in the beginning. that proves tigers supremacy in both situations that are logical.
