To be fair, if you watch much older interviews when Trump was in his forties, he is much more suave and uses more complex language. In 2016, though, he was only a tiny bit better than now.

My mom, a journalist, finished it for her. She was still taking the stairs, when youngsters were holding the elevator for her, and was also still working when she died at 94.
People tend to group "the elderly" as this homogeneous category, when in fact there's a huge range of functioning...Mick Jagger is still performing, dancing around the stage, and he's 80. (Of course there's sexism too; Madonna is still performing at 65, but a lot of people vilify her and say she should quit b/c "she's old")....I could go on and on, but I wish our society was more discerning, and less dismissive of people past the age of 50 or 60.

My Aunt died Dec 29, 2023. She was 99 years old, sharp as a tack. She talked (argued) politics with me up until the middle of December. Yes, she was in a wheelchair. Yes, she walked with a walker. Yes, she looked frail. But, cripe, she could hold a discussion on just about anything up until the last 15 days. Biden is fine. Trump not so much.

On Thanksgiving 2012 we noticed something was off with my grandma, but we decided she was just old. We visited my other side for Christmas but saw her in January, and we had to admit something was wrong. Then by March we had to look into hiring help. This man is going to be a mess by October.
My mom was 90 when she died and right up to end she was sharp. To be so with it for years older than djt. My father passed at 77 and worked as a Professional Engineer, a highly.technical field right up to the last months of his life.

I saw an episode describing the way Trump stands being an obvious indicator of dementia and it made so much sense to me. My step father had it and he stood like that, as well as my grandfather.

I'm much younger than both of them (and female) and on bad days I walk like President does at times. My reason is horrific truck wreck-spinal cord injuries and TBI. We all have something to deal with. Husbands grandmother was mentally sharp as a tack but she had an orthopedic disease that was eating her bones away. So to see her walk you might think frail, but sit down and talk to her and she could set you straight!

There is a genetic disposition that gets inherited and massively increases the risk of getting dementia, but there's no guarantee that the disease really breaks out in every individual who has the disposition. The most concerning thing about the Biden/Trump debate is that in a country of over 350 million people, neither side seems to be able to produce a younger unifying candidate for the people, rather than the Military/Industrial/Business conglomerates who are taking this country down a very destructive and dangerous path into an authoritarian future that will destroy what little is left of the Democracy we once led the world with.
Both of them are too old. The US has an age minimum of 35 to run, it needs a cap too. Sensible rule would be retirement age of 66. That goes for all of them, senators, congress, the lot. All of them with term limits. Lifetime appointment like the Supreme Court is just ridiculous.

So not necessarily something they can control. And now overlay those things on a person like Trump, who already was erratic to a certain degree and aggressive.
