The separation of church and state isn't in the constitution. There were a lot of state churches after the constitution was put in place. The phrase comes from a letter Jefferson wrote to a Baptist church in Connecticut.

There are ways the state and church can be together without there being a state church. Like, say, war memorials with crosses on them. Or the Pledge of Allegiance including the words "under God." Or maybe prayer in congress. None of those involve the establishment of a national religion.

Here’s a little story about being catholic and having varying views on abortion access. I was raised strictly Catholic. I attended Jesuit schools for high school and college and a parish school for K-8. I was also a little wild as a teenager and found myself pregnant. My parent’s close college friend was also the priest who baptized me. At that time, he was the president of the Jesuit school I attended. I went to him for council after finding out about what was going on. Never once did he pressure me into any decision. He just offered me love and support for my own life and body. I even asked about abortion and was considering it. He urged me to think seriously about available options and make choices that were right for me. I did end up having that baby and she’s now 24, but I made that decision knowing I had options and would be loved, respected, and supported no matter what I did. That is the embodiment of a Catholic. I want to scream at these people who fall in line with the loudest voice. Christianity is not a veil to cloak your own contempt for the free will and choices of others.
Thank you for sharing your story. The sort of people who now embrace trump’s behavior would struggle to embrace the kindness, empathy, and Jesus-like love you received. I’m so glad you had that support.

The thing I find baffling is that they can't condemn Trump, and they grasp at straws to condemn or even critisize something real of Biden, since a lot of the things actually worth disliking him for are things him and Trump have in common or in close proximity.
