    • @SirPerfectful you sound pretentious.. better not bring that to the field. Animals bite because they bite. They don't need a reason. Trying to personify animals to make them seem moral is not good stewardship. It's just like the idiots who tell people that sharks only bite humans by mistake. No, they're apex predators and they'll bite anything that might provide a meal. There is no morality in nature. If you want to be a good steward once you leave the classroom and get into the field remember that honesty is the best tool

Also never bitten or stung. But it was fun putting sticks in front of them and hearing their jaws snap at it. You guys should go there at around May. • We have some big orangy-red bull ants in western east Texas. They weigh about 1-3/4 to 2 pounds each. Some people mistake them for coyotes when they do their mating call. My brother is an underwater welder for various energy companies and sometimes his old seal pup buddies. He told me that those Texas Bull Ants bites feel just like what a white shark bite feels like and if they sting you it's worse than when a hoop snake pokes you with his hard pointed tail. He also said that he would probably rather be gored by a Texas Horny Toad than bit by a Texas Bull Ant.

Remember on the bullet ant, its mouth was too small for the forearm so it had to be moved to the finger webbing? Well you know as well as everyone that 145mph bite force would tear clean through the webbing of your finger and then it would start eating the skin and that is why your bsi is made from fear and anxiety

What makes bite fun, its venom has something similar to capsaicin (thing that causes burning feeling in peppers).. It does not send You to hospital, but pain is described as rather intense/painful burning feeling that can last some time. These tarantulas are also rather defensive so not hard to get bitten, lol.

  • all im wondering is, what kind of prey an ant would need to catch that it evolved such fast jaws? also love that you keep your composure when bitten or stung out in the wild like with that leaf-cutter ant. most people would just swat it and be done with it. you try to get it off without hurting it in any way.
