  • Matt's wrecker was built with a similar plan in mind - to be a big wrecker, but also to be small and light enough to be able to manage the sand dunes and get onto the trails in the area. By being larger, I think your wrecker is going to be more trail restricted and less "capable" of doing the job Matt does with his. Of course, that's perfectly ok, because I think it'll be better for other things.. Hope you can get it designed, built, and working by the off road games because it'll be cool to see it side by side with the others. One of my favorite things is seeing all the custom vehicles and knowing there isn't really a "best", just a bunch of different, cool, capable vehicles.

    • In my opinion, the first thing that amazes me about Matt vehicles is that he builds them out of his head with cardboard, in his garage with employees and a few kids. That’s impressive. I love Dave’s but honestly he is not getting his hands dirty. He has the resources to ask for the best stuff on the vehicle he wants. He got a professional rendering made for his vision. Imagine that Elon Musk wants to build the biggest off-road wrecker then he probably would have it because money can buy you anything. Props to Dave, I’m looking forward to seeing this monster but Matt would be holding the title in my heart.

And already there have been a video or two that shows the wrecker being too heavy like it is. So it looks like for what he needs it could not be more heavy, and by a lot of videos, not bigger also.

Not making any comparison, just letting you know what you missed YT wise. I would love to see a tracked rollback or a tracked PLS that can haul the stuff you recover back onto the road. As cool as your recoveries are, it there is a lot of time and energy expended in dragging wrecks back to a road or parking lot to load up. I just think a vehicle like that would make for easier recoveries and less impact on some of the sites. A 6 wheel humvee sounds amazing! I can't wait to see thus build! The military elected not to pursue the humvee wrecker concept, so it's cool you guys are.

  • Sounds very cool brother, have you thought of or considered adding center extending stabilizers, really it would be center and rear stabilizers to make sure no matter what you do or where you do it you always stay level and up right running you rotator. Simple pass thought extensions that have legs that can be slide into the end knuckles would work best as long as you set the pass through cores to have like a five degree rise and drop at the ends of the core pass threw tubes using either hydraulics or a screw drive system to give down pressure. Regardless can't wait to see your wreck crushing and recovering beast. Just call it your tomahawk crusher. LoL

  • Looking forward to seeing this build. It's a great concept, and one I've been wanting to build on a smaller scale. For me, this is too heavy. I want to give a Jeep Gladiator this treatment with the 6x6 mod, custom bed with a fifth wheel hitch, goose neck hitch, and modules that lock into the fifth wheel to give extra functionality like a rotator boom, A frame boom, enclosed and open personnel carriers, and a full service truck module.

  • For a year I have been working on the world's biggest off-road wrecker I'll say I started with an old cabover and added a cab from the same year conventional and a second conventional so it's a 6 foot cabover with a rotator boom and outriggers with a hydraulic winch system that will lift 85 ton at 56 feet extension and a 30 degree angle all while 9 people sit comfortably in the cab and enjoy the built-in soda dispenser and ice machine we have 8 hydrologic winches and 8 warren 25 ton winches and a real wheel lift stinger so nothing will be slamming into the back of our toe truck
