Oh Man! Let the friendly competition commence!
was thinking cant wait for matt to see this video but you beat me to it yourself lol
It’ll be fun to watch this behemoth pull like a brute on the sand and fumble like a ford escort on any skinny trail.
@michaelloomer9851 oh the irony when the escort is one of the most successful world rally cars in history
@@Flying_GC INDEED!!! But….. less capable as a rock crawler, fo’sho! 😜

The Hummersaurus wrecks !!! Totally looking forward to seeing how this beast turns out !!! Happy new year fellas 👍
Hummersuarus Wrecks! thats awesome
I'm actually disappointed about this... why can't he feed the homeless without spending on unnecessary vehicles or projects to satisfy his fragile male ego smh
Yeah, that's a pretty good suggestion. I was trying to include Duramax in the name or something with it, but kinda like yours.
@@muazunais2378 Did you not see the Christmas video they made, and the hurricane relief video? And the endless times they have rescued others and helped them out ? Dude has worked hard to get where he is , and this is the way he makes his living. Just because someone is successful doesn't mean they have to pick up where the government fails ... Be better 👍
@@justinmason5307 that’s pretty dang good
Matt's wrecker was built with a similar plan in mind - to be a big wrecker, but also to be small and light enough to be able to manage the sand dunes and get onto the trails in the area. By being larger, I think your wrecker is going to be more trail restricted and less "capable" of doing the job Matt does with his. Of course, that's perfectly ok, because I think it'll be better for other things.. Hope you can get it designed, built, and working by the off road games because it'll be cool to see it side by side with the others. One of my favorite things is seeing all the custom vehicles and knowing there isn't really a "best", just a bunch of different, cool, capable vehicles.
Are the axles Tom bought while Matt was away?
@@bigredc222I'd say so. They look about the same.
@@skilletpan5674 I don't recall Matt talking about using them in any future project.
@@bigredc222I think those were MRAP axles
Matt built his wrecker for the area he works in.
That Ram is freaking INCREDIBLE!!!!!! The color, the sport hood, the utility bed, tires and wheels it’s just so sick 🤙
Building big is easy. Getting to actually go off-road on trails is another thing. I’m looking forward to the build.
Excactly. There is a balance
I bet he saw Matt having trouble with his rig on a trail that that one jeep got flipped on.
No way it’ll fit in the “Toilet Bowl” that Rory backs up, in Trailmater. Not sure more beastly is more better, but, it is interesting to see people use their skillsets to fabricate weird shite on their nickel. Gonna need more popcorn.😂
@@lovedfriend2020He didn’t have trouble, as so much as he was trying not to inflict more damage on the Jeep, with the owner standing right there I might add. Remember, that was a designated “single track” trail network, and he stated that two track vehicles were Not supposed to be in there, him included.
@@blueman5924 Perhaps but if it can get anywhere close it will be able to just lift the rig out, kind of like the hand of god.
The title the world’s largest off road wrecker will always be challenged..looking forward to your build. You have the upper hand, you have more resources, more skilled labor, and great creativity. I like what Matt did with a few people and tight budget
Exactly!!!he ACTUALLY built it himself, with his hands. Dave is just gonna hire it out.
Completely agree mat gets more hands on and does it himself and doesn’t just have his crew bust their balls and slap his name all over it.
Matt's will still be more trail capable would be my guess
Two different beasts for two different styles. Love both of em and wishing everyone the best
@@andrewk8636absolutely, this build will be so big that it will do a ton of damage trying to go down a normal trail
Dave, I'm looking forward to seeing the final product on this one, can't wait!! 😉👍 (and seeing it in action!)
I paused on the Couger pic. Dayum! Hummawrecker for the win! Awesome concept you have!
The thing about Matt's vehicles is that - pound for pound - they are amazingly capable off road machines. The one that stuns me is the Corvair wagon that was rebuilt into a fabulous rock crawler... with multiple winches. Now we're gonna see crazy. I like this game.
In my opinion, the first thing that amazes me about Matt vehicles is that he builds them out of his head with cardboard, in his garage with employees and a few kids. That’s impressive. I love Dave’s but honestly he is not getting his hands dirty. He has the resources to ask for the best stuff on the vehicle he wants. He got a professional rendering made for his vision. Imagine that Elon Musk wants to build the biggest off-road wrecker then he probably would have it because money can buy you anything. Props to Dave, I’m looking forward to seeing this monster but Matt would be holding the title in my heart.
This is a terrible compatision. Dave absolutly gets his hands dirty @The_editor28
@@jacobpoucher he gets his hand dirty building? I’m not hating on him. I love the content he creates but I don’t recall seeing him building nothing. Send me a link if you have it.
I remember a video in which Matt tested a military vehicle making research to design the wrecker, and he found that it sink in the sand like a rock on water because it was too heavy. And already there have been a video or two that shows the wrecker being too heavy like it is. So it looks like for what he needs it could not be more heavy, and by a lot of videos, not bigger also.
What can I say I think it going to be a Big Mama love it 👍🇬🇧
Don't forget CAPABLE. If you watched matts early struggles. it included things like being overweight and being able to fit on trails in general.
Yup. There's far more that goes into an off road machine than just big tires.
Or melting everything from locking tubes to electrical wiring. That engine runs HOT...
@@ColinRichardson cause that header design is terrible is part of the problem
@@infiniti1123 Have you gone to Matts workshop and shown him your design? I bet he would appreciate someone who is knowledgeable and able to take the initiative to show how it can be improved.
@@ColinRichardsonthey had rather set here on KZhead comments and run their fingers about someone than actually get out of their mom's basement and actually do something with their lives

Been eagerly waiting for some build videos. Checking here and Sparks Motors. Maybe a Short just to give a quick update. Really like your content. Especially the helicopters as my sons are flying in helicopters, and now fixed wing turboprops. Rock on!
It's a hummer turning into an off road wrecker, so it obviously has to be named H.O.R.R. (Hummer.Off.Road.wRecker.) 😂 plus it's a good play against Matt's M.O.R.R. 😂

This is going to be a cool build. tell the camera man to show more footage of the components. We already know what Dave looks like.
THANK YOU!!! I've said it before. He tells us to take a look at it...and the bloody cameraman stays ON HIM!!! Pain in the ass and annoying AF!!!
The camera man always misses the shot

Love your idea of a rotating boom on the Wrecker. I have asked others like Matt's if they could incorporate some kind of tank turret winch system, so maybe you could build winches around your boom system . Just a thought Name: "Sparkster".

All of you guys have exactly what you need! Your rig couldn't go thru the trails Matt's does, but your stuff could pick up everything Matt owns in one pull. Love it all!
That massive green thing can just make its own trails. Good luck, Matt will have to grow his wrecker now.
Man, we’re excited for this series and thanks for hooking us up with OnX!
Dave, we like your style. It's a combo of experienced bravado and sincere humility (not "humiliated", just "humble"). We like how you considered that couple that were stranded in their Class C then went scouting in their Kia... You treated that situation with care for all involved. Then, helping Matt pull those crumpled up cars from that deep, deep canyon... We are really looking forward to your building the WLOR Trail W. Yeehaw!
I cant wait, please make this a genuine build series and take us along for the whole ride. F-ups included. Love you guys!
Thank you for continuing to do content. I love your channel and all of your content ❤
Love the spirit you guys are bringing to this. Would've been a lot cheaper and easier to stay in Utah and just make a video sitting on top of the HET... But instead, you treat the world to THIS! Battle-axe for sure, and play the reggae song, "Small Axe"!!
I hope you guys simplify this rig as much as possible. I want to see this thing succeed. I love the military axles! Matt's largest off road wrecker is very agile and I don't think y'all are gonna outmaneuver it on the trail unless you shed as much weight as possible. Keep it light, keep it simple. Good luck!
The Duramax diesel engine should be replaced by a big block V8 for instant power and less weight.
@@frank-t6857 agreed. Matt's wrecker is gonna be hard to beat. This is gonna be fun to watch.
@frank-t6857 Also... how fast that engine rev up for those 'burst' of power needed most of the time? The big block Matt choose has more torque than the Duramax of the same year.
@@pcihector Totally agree with you

What a nice project, your explanation was great.
Always good to have multiple rigs to help each other. So realisticly if one of those large wreckers ever brake down on the trail you guys can call each other for some help. Looking forward to seeing all the friendly battles all the off road youtubers are doing.

I always love to see these ground up builds, so im in for that. Independent suspension is not the way to go for a trail rig and a rotator is going to be crazy heavy. If you can get the center of gravity low enough it could work in the more mild trails. Should work well everywhere the HETT can go plus a bit further These are all the same things i told Matt when he picked up a couple of these.
This will bo doubt be the heaviest offroad wrecker. Also the most dramatic. Would like to see it in the Offroad Games. Tip: go get a vcr already heavyd 😉

Looking forward to this build. Like the idea of you guys getting even more involved with the off-road community
This is going to be epic. I love matt's stuff and trail mater too. Watched a lot of your vids and this series should be great. Subbed and ready . Although in my mind looks to big for trails I'm sure you know your trails better than I .
I have built those axles as well as the cougar cat 2 which is what those are from. They are monsters that are almost impossible to break!
Matt mentioned an offroad rollback and had the truck in his yard, he also had a bus he was looking at using to shuttle for this year's offroad games. Not making any comparison, just letting you know what you missed YT wise. I would love to see a tracked rollback or a tracked PLS that can haul the stuff you recover back onto the road. As cool as your recoveries are, it there is a lot of time and energy expended in dragging wrecks back to a road or parking lot to load up. I just think a vehicle like that would make for easier recoveries and less impact on some of the sites. A 6 wheel humvee sounds amazing! I can't wait to see thus build! The military elected not to pursue the humvee wrecker concept, so it's cool you guys are.
I'm sure you'll go bigger, it all depends on the trail. Some wont even fit a dually, some even have a width limit. If building for the wrecker games I'm sure you go and see how big Sand Hallows triple 7s or whatever its called is at its narrowest and make sure you fit, and can turn tight enough.
REALLY beautiful Truck! OMG. So Nice.... Much ❤ Guys
With the overall beefiness of the build along with having a rotator I would go technical with the name and call it "Rotating Mass". Looking forward to seeing this build so please show lots of your awesome content!
Matt be like "Hold my Mountain Dew!" Looking forward to the project.
😂😂😂😂
Sounds very cool brother, have you thought of or considered adding center extending stabilizers, really it would be center and rear stabilizers to make sure no matter what you do or where you do it you always stay level and up right running you rotator. Simple pass thought extensions that have legs that can be slide into the end knuckles would work best as long as you set the pass through cores to have like a five degree rise and drop at the ends of the core pass threw tubes using either hydraulics or a screw drive system to give down pressure. Regardless can't wait to see your wreck crushing and recovering beast. Just call it your tomahawk crusher. LoL
But you guys will knock it out of the ballpark like always you guys are the bomb your crew is awesome. God bless you all
Hope to see you in March at the Off-Road Games. We might have to have seperate classifications for wreckers some day. Power on.
Look forward to see the build, definitely be some straight up competition this year

Looking forward to seeing this build. It's a great concept, and one I've been wanting to build on a smaller scale. For me, this is too heavy. I want to give a Jeep Gladiator this treatment with the 6x6 mod, custom bed with a fifth wheel hitch, goose neck hitch, and modules that lock into the fifth wheel to give extra functionality like a rotator boom, A frame boom, enclosed and open personnel carriers, and a full service truck module.
That is gross. Makes about as much sense as scientology

having a rotator on the back end is probably the worst idea of all for an off road truck. thats why you dont see them an anything but hard top!

For a year I have been working on the world's biggest off-road wrecker I'll say I started with an old cabover and added a cab from the same year conventional and a second conventional so it's a 6 foot cabover with a rotator boom and outriggers with a hydraulic winch system that will lift 85 ton at 56 feet extension and a 30 degree angle all while 9 people sit comfortably in the cab and enjoy the built-in soda dispenser and ice machine we have 8 hydrologic winches and 8 warren 25 ton winches and a real wheel lift stinger so nothing will be slamming into the back of our toe truck

Matt’s offroad recovery holds the title in my eyes. He built it with his hands and his crew. He didn’t hire it out. You have a cool concept but will never hold the title.
So the largest off road wrecker is determined by your opinion, not by actual size?
I look forward to the build!
I’m sure Matt would love to have you participate. Looking forward to seeing how you overcome the weight and articulation that Sand Hollow require. Matt hasn’t offered any explanation of the Axles Tom purchased when Matt was out of town.
