Every play potentially takes 40+ seconds off the clock. By deliberately letting the 40 second play clock expire, they have traded a 5 yard penalty for those 40 seconds. By rule, you can't do this twice in the same play sequence or there's an additional 15 yard penalty, so after the delay of game, they lined up, and near when the play clock was going to expire, they deliberately went offsides, thus killing another 40 seconds off the clock. My all-time favorite “knowing the rules“ moment was done by Buddy Ryan back in the late 80s when he coached the Eagles. It was called the “Polish punt team“. Follow me on this.. -There was about 30 seconds left in the game. -The Eagles had the ball on 4th down. -They were up by 4 points. -They lined up to punt. Buddy sent out 22 guys on the punt coverage team. Back then, they wouldn’t disallow a play to start if there were too many men on the field(They have since changed that rule so in that scenario, the refs would throw the flag and not even allow the play to happen). So basically Buddy figured that by sending 22 guys out there, the opposing team wouldn’t have a chance to have any sort of return. But they also didn’t want to accept the penalty because time would runoff the clock since they don’t put time back on a clock due to a penalty like that. One of the most brilliant things I’ve ever seen in any sport.

Pats gave up two points and bet on the defense and Brady’s offense for the walkoff win and we got it! The other video is belichek and one of his favorite linebackers playing games with each other! @@NoBody-ro3xj Vrabel is trying to run as much time off the clock as he can do legally, so that the Pats have less time to march down the field and try to score when they get the ball again. That kept the ball out of the Patriots' hands for 80+ clock seconds longer than if they had just punted.
@@notthatyouasked6656 I appreciate the explanation... That's a genius play though. I could see why it would annoy people but smart
0:55 just about as big of a smile you'll ever get from ol'Billy B!!
Man, that first clip was just absolutely ridiculous 😂
Make nfl coaches getting heated moments
why don’t you say please
When belichic did it to the jets being up 33 to zip he was being a str8 asshole. When the titans did it to him being up 1 they were being strategic. Facts
Many became Titans fans during this game. The trolling/reverse Uno card was hall of Fame worthy! 👌(chef's kiss)
Is the clock runoff in the Titans game a loop? Like if it was the start of the quarter could they just keep false starting and then delay of game over and over? I assume no so when does the loop end?
I love how Belicheck was in like 50% of these clips
I like how Cobb almost lifts his leg out from out-of-bounds and then it would have been a reverse penalty due to being out of bounds and then proceeding to touch the football first.
That holding clip always makes me laugh so hard
Belichick doing some trolling is just hilarious
The foot out of bounds was actually an incorrect call, because a player can't go out of bounds and be the first one to touch it on a punt or kickoff. So, by the REAL rule, that would have been illegal touching on the receiving team, half distance to the goal where he downloaded the ball. Or re kick.
That’s what I’m thinking too but the browns did it again not to long ago
Refs got it wrong. You are correct
@@jacobstrutner8232 They got it right. It was and still is a correct call.
It was and still is a correct call. Free kick out of bounds.
Imagine if you needed the Ravens to win by 7 and that safety cost you the bet lol
The funny part is Bill did the same thing a week or two earlier with a smile on his face. He's not smiling now hahaha but I am lol
I love the randall cobb play..you rarely ever see it anymore…everytime somebody is in the position to do that im yelling at the tv lol
Bill Belicheck: Don't act like I didn't make Mike Vrabel. HE STOLE MY WHOLE FLOW! WORD FOR WORD, BAR FOR BAR! Nahh but fr, if the Jets could decline penalties why couldn't the Pats?
I had the first play holding idea years ago. Glad someone tried it. Did they close the loophole because I haven’t seen it since.
I absolutely love how smug bill was when he was doing it but wanted to cry foul when it’s done to him, I got some screenshots I’m gonna make it a meme
I absolutely love that my patriots are in like the whole video! I remember every single one of those games. The hiking the ball out the back of the end zone was genius and it worked like a charm! We had a monster defense that year and we knew they would get the stop! They did it all game. Brady was in the beginning stages of being the two minute champion that he became. Pats gave up two points and bet on the defense and Brady’s offense for the walkoff win and we got it! The other video is belichek and one of his favorite linebackers playing games with each other! I thought it was hilarious!
This video shows how not all of football is about the players. It’s about the coaches too and they play such a huge roll in making the teams what they are. Good or bad
Roll 🤣🤣🤣
@@whocares9033 I feel like nfl coaches have more influence on the game than any other pro sport coach
Bill laughing is like someone laughing at a funeral
Never seen your videos before but good luck on 100K
wait, let me get this straight, Belichick, known for playing with the rule book (I don't mean any of the scandals they have been involved with) is upset that another coach is doing just that?
The first play was so brilliant that the rules were changed to prevent a repeat.
For real? It literally had a repeat!! The repeat was in this video!! It didn't prevent a repeat. It will prevent it from ever happening again though, but it didn't stop a repeat.
Brandon Ripley Congrats on being an asshole for no reason
@@TehGamesaver Those to clips happened in the same year. The rules were changed after the fact.
Imagine how frustrating it would be if the entire offense didn’t care about holding penalties. Just seeing how hard the defense was working for the offense to just bear hug them was so funny to me
As a Titans fan, I knew exactly what the thumbnail was from 😂
Belichick mad when it’s done against him but happy when he does it to others lmao
Lmfao 🤣 PATRIOTS you can't keep doing that men.....JETS hey men you did it to us..... PATRIOTS :😳😩
Interesting that most of the dodgy calls involve the Pats.
4:12 one announcer didnt pick up on what was happening AT ALL, then just tried to fade away from the convo like nothing was said 🤣
Belichick is the LAST person who should be telling ANYONE what they can and cannot do!!!
The one missing here is NE against the Ravens and the Ravens going nuts during the playoffs!
The ineligible reciever
The ineligible receiver one was a funny loophole 😂😂.
Bill laughing that way is me in pain for 2 minutes because I am sore from laughing. That was beautiful. Gase the only good thing he has done as a head coach.
The holding on the first play was the most blatant hold I’ve ever seen, he just bear hugged the guy lol
I'm a Patriots fan I love seeing Bill get mad lol he finds "loop holes" all the time🤣 he don't like when the rabbit has the gun🤣
3:32 Vrabel (or whoever does a false start to move them back 5 yards) What if Bill is cussing out the ref after that to get a penalty to push them back where they started?
Vrabel learned from the master...
The holding on the very first play lmao
That last one by Cobb was a 1000 I.Q play. Really smart way to get out of the horrible field position they would have had.
I remember when us Ravens fans had some fun special teams moments. Probably because John Harbaugh was a great special teams coach.
Now he’s a bum…. Or something. Been really doing things backwards this season with his team that’s for sure. Then again, they were 8-8 when they won the SB so what do I know lol
Keyword: was, now he just gets blown out by franchises and looses 6 games in a row
Story was that Belichick hated that loophole and had argued to close it but NFL declined. So he demonstrated it in a game where it had no effect because they were up 33-0, hoping that people would complain and NFL would close the loophole. Later that season the Titans used that loophole against the Patriots in a close game where it DID matter. Of course it continued to bother Belichick.
Only Cobb knew what he was doing until after then everyone was like damn 200 iq mr.Cobb 🤣🤣
Wstching a angry belichick makes my day
And thanks to Vrabel doing that. The chiefs didn’t have to play the Pats. And had an easy stroll to SB54
We played the Pats that year. How many times do they have to lose to figure out they aren't winning.
I love the anguish Bellicheat goes through. It's.. beautiful.
I've never understood the reasoning or the purpose behind the rule that if the returner puts a foot out of bounds when he fields the kick off it makes the kick out of bounds. How is that the kicking team's fault?
There are very many stupid rules in the NFL, it's best not to question it.
“There will probably be holding called” thank Ian Eagle, no shit!
I always wondered. Technically speaking couldn’t you call a “unsportsmanlike conduct” on any of these plays that are manipulation of rules to affect the clock and force a loss of downs?
They explained this in the video
The quick fix for the Cobb kickoff out of bounds is to call him for illegal touching after leaving the field of play. He was brilliant, but that's the needed change to prevent that in the future. Offset the kickoff out of bounds with illegal touching and rekick.
They did change that rule. If you do that now, it's out at that spot with no penalty for kick out of bounds.
@@Pitchblackplays it turns out that they did NOT change that rule.
Apparently not, since my Browns did it today.
But that only applies to players leaving the field of play and reentering the field of play. If a player goes out of bounds, but does not come back inbounds, then it's not illegal touching. It's a rule that needs changing, but the given solution doesn't work, because that penalty is not what happened.
Refs got it wrong.
The funniest thing is Vrabel was coached by Belicheck XD
The announcers on first play were clueless. They couldn’t figure out why there was no pressure on punter. Everyone was being held.
I feel like that last one should be illegal touching and down the ball at the spot of recovery. Not the rules I know but I think it would be better that way.
I was thinking the same thing. If a player goes out of bounds (intentional or not) he cannot be the first one to touch the ball. Happens all the time on passing plays. Are the kickoffs held to different rules?🤔. I would think some kick returners would do this all the time on a decent kickoff that would pin the offense back deep.
@@brunoskorniak9722 - It is different for kickoffs as this is considered out of bounds.
It is a rule for kickoffs (not punts) to prevent the kicking team from pinning the recieving team near, or behind, the 5 yard line on every single kickoff. 🙂 just sayin'
Refs got it wrong. Balls down where he touched it
@@joefein4503 he went out of bounds so can't be the first player to touch the ball or penalty on him. Refs got it wrong.
Love that Vrable learned that from Belichik, then used it against him to beat him at his on game while Belichik was having a tantrum
Its hilarious to watch Belichek getting pissed off at Vrabel for doing some shit he probably learned from him.
Turn about is fair play Bill!
