Kitten looks underdeveloped. Maybe this is why her mom cat left her. I really hope she'll overcome her problems with help of Toast and will turn into a beautiful cat, a friend of Toast.
Wtf? The kitten is fine. It was simply a bit malnurished likely from not having regularly eaten for some time. The "mother" cat most likely didnt "leave it", it was probably separated or the mother died.
UPDATE: The cat is now dead. It was apparently underdeveloped according to a YT comment. what a shame :(

The dog seems to instinctively know where to grab the kitten to carry it - the same place a mother cat would-right behind the neck (or the nape, as it's sometimes called), where there's plenty of loose hide to grab without hurting the cute little fur-ball. Adorable. Love can conquer all differences.

It's not the fact that the kitten thought of Toasty as its mom that gets me. No, it's the fact that Toasty ACCEPTED being the kitten's mom that gets to me. The way that Toasty gets worried about the kitten's wellbeing and even gets anxious when the kitten isn't around.
So much so that she started the biological functions of motherhood.

To be fair a cats deadliest part is their claws a dogs deadliest part is their jaws. Picking a small creature up in the whole mouth probably prevents the dog from snapping it's neck on accident.

When my cat had kittens she would pick them up by the back of the neck. However our Shepard would grab them like this. I never feared he would bite down though. He was a odd one.
Our older, male, German Shepherd thought he was a cat. The cats would cuddle with him at night, and I'd see him pick them up like this, too. They weren't intimidated by it, though. It was a loving gesture.
Dog mommy adopts the kittie and cares for him as if she birthed the kitty. That's very nice to see. Kudos to the kitty's new mommy.

There have been cases of animals taking care of or watching after human babies and children. Even full grown adults who have inquired themselves and are unable to walk.
Maybe not a Kangaroo but wild dogs have raised children in the wild before.
Wolves, mostly, have nurtured human babies before, and even monkeys have. I think almost any animal could if their instincts are aroused enough. Nature is amazing.

the love animals have is almost too special for human beings to understand. they dont care what type of animal you are, all they know is they respond to love and if you love them they'll love you right back

It's impressive that the dog recognizes the danger posed by the pool.
Toasty was like, "Get yo ass away from that pool!"
that is not true in 100% cases she may just remember someone drowning in the pool before and feels the danger not logically but emotionally
I feel it's a bit like how babies know to fear high places. It's instinctual to know what things are dangerous and what aren't. That ain't even including previous experience with the pool and knowing how dangerous it could be.
