  • For the lava lamp I think you need an incandescent light bulb, it's the ones almost everyone had in the 2000's, the bulb used used to get really hot. Nowadays most light bulbs don't produce as much heat but have a longer lifespawn.

    • I was going to make the same recommendation. You have to purchase bulbs now that are designed for lava lamps otherwise they won't work.

  • For the lava lamp if you’re using an energy efficient or LED bulb they’re probably not getting hot enough. Those old incandescents get hot quick which made them good for lamps like this.

  • For your lava lamp, you need to use an incandescent lightbulb because it heats up when turned on. Fluorescent and LEDs don't. Love your videos ☺

    • ​@@NaeniaNightingale since the whole concept is basically heating dyed wax until it floats then falls as it cools and repeat really can get expensive. I think there's probably a cheaper way to do it than relying on the heat from a light bulb though. Got to be.

  • Never knew jelly shoes changed colours. Big were the flats in the late 80's/early 90's. So wanted them, but they cracked. Have clear, sparkly hot pink & neon yellow sandals made out of better plastic (silicone?) now. Zero blisters.

  • It's so wild that early 2000s merchandise is now vintage!!! Life happens way too fast! My favorite thing growing up was lite-brite!! I also always wanted heelies (the sneakers with wheels?) but I would've 100% broken some bones with those🤣

    • You can still buy them and they have modern versions of them that look much cooler. I still have the ones I bought after I grew out of my old ones sadly my newer ones don't look as cool as my old ones the old ones looked exactly like the over ankle converse. But it's still fun, they also have ones with two wheels.

    • Early 2000s is not vintage they're just old or out of date. To be considered vintage the item must be 40 years old or older. Wait till you get to be in your 60s!

    • And if you called your friend who was on the other line, you got the busy tone. And if they were using AOL, you couldn't get through for hours! I remember we had (one) phone with a really long cord so you didn't need to stand right next to the phone. And that was the only phone in the house for most of my childhood.

    • Apparently, the youngsters have discovered the concept of landlines! I keep seeing posts about how cool they are. AT&T must be conga line dancing through their headquarters. Let's see if they bring back all the different styles! I used to think those ornate, kind of French looking ones were the absolute coolest things I had ever seen!

  • Oodie feels like an updated more functional snuggie to me. Also those popcorn shirts are apparently coming back and I’m convinced they just sat in a warehouse for a couple decades since they take up almost no space and are just pulling them out to resell now 😂

  • Hope! Thank you for the nostalgia trip!! I had a lava lamp in the 90's. You need to use a standard incandescent light bulb for them to work optimally, though. Led light bulbs don't produce nearly enough heat to work well. Incandescent bulbs, however, do get hot enough to melt the wax at the bottom.

  • I have something very similar that's close to the vintage iPod! I have the vintage MP3 player. Sometimes when I'm listening to music it glitches and goes "I'll never smile again-nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" so basically it just glitches and keeps playing the same note on till I turn it off. It's kind of creepy but it's good!😊

  • uggs never fail to remind me how trends come and go. i got a pair from my mom before they became the hot new thing to wear and the popular girls in my class definitely needed to point out that my shoes werent all that stylish (as they do) and basically two years later everyone was wearing them. they were comfy though but not my general style these days!

  • My mom owned a hot pink popcorn shirt and the Snuggie. She’s in her 70’s, I’m in my 50’s. My sister and I thought they were bizarre and graciously declined her offer to buy us these tops. The Snuggie was totally on-brand for our mom, for sure. She liked to hang around the house in her “housecoat” when we were growing up in the 80’s. I bought the Floam for my nephew. I thought it was cool. My sister bought a lava lamp for him.

  • JUST A TIP with the lava lama, you need a specific lava lamp blub, becuase modern day leds are desinged to stay quite cool so thats why the liquid isnt moving

    • Yeah, LED bulbs can be turned off and changed immediately… the 90s and 00s bulbs would burn your skin if you tried to do that. 😂 Old bulb types: halogen, incandescent, fluorescent- incandescent get hot.

  • 10:58 If it helps you out any, the cables with those attachments one of them is to attach the receiver to the main part of the phone, and the other cable would attach from the base of the phone into the wall since it is a landline.

  • OK but for those of us with circulation issues/Raynaud's, Uggs are a LIFESAVER in winter. bought myself some Ugg slippers and Ugg boots and it was the first year that I didn't get any Raynaud's attacks in my toes!! doubtless not the only brand that are this warm but if they make gloves, i'll be all over them haha (also 100% with you on the blisters, my 2002 jelly sandals left me hobbling for dayssss)

  • Oh my goodness, living through you as you time travel back to my childhood. And hey girl… I was also a bear paw kind of girl growing up. The one pair of uggs I willed myself to purchase got tore up by my Saint Bernard 😭 I should see if i can salvage them and turn them into the smaller ones like that girl! Hehehe doubt I’m that talented but it hurts me I only barely got one winter out of them. 😭😂
