@@facefullvoid7273 Pretty much. Most original Dota players I've personally known are actually unaware of the actual game (Warcraft) which the original lore was based on. Valve had to make new lore to avoid issues which, in my opinion, was better than the first dota.

A Dota match is the furthest known event in a Dota universe. It's the end. Series is a prequal.
In Dota lore, when Dire and Radiant start fighting each others, the world will be put into a infinite loop, since when one of the Ancients is destroyed, the world will be reset. This makes every match in the game kinda canon. So anything happens will always before the loop.
Lorewise, a game of dota is like a chess between two powerful beings called Ancients. Neither ancient want to fully win or loss, so they keep resetting the game in a time-loop to keep each other alive.

Don' worry, it's basically the expanded backstories, you don't need to watch anything Dota-related to enjoy it. It can be enjoyed completely on its own.

8 is a fair rating. There is still room for improvement. An 8 episode season does complicate the conveying of the story which is evident in dragons blood. Hope they extend the episodes to 16 in 2nd season.
