In this week’s episode of The Therapy Crouch, Abbey and Peter discuss their differing attitudes when it comes to parenting styles - expect fun dad and house management vibes.
And it isn’t just Abbey and Pete’s parenting styles that we get a glimpse into, but you guys as well! We hear from a couple whose attempts at confiscating their child’s Peppa Pig tablet backfired with some hilarious results.
In Agony Ab, we learn of a fairly new and sh*t cultural phenomenon called a ‘Sten do’ as well as what to do when you suspect the girl you’ve got your eye on may be playing the o’l treat them mean keep them keen tactics on you.
Enjoy this week’s Therapy Crouch!

    • My daughter didn't do homework. She had just sat in school all day and she wanted to play. She started to do some year 5/6 to prep for senior school. She was classed as "gifted and talented" and has a good degree. Not every child is academic, let them find their way!

  • You’re both doing great as parents, there’s nothing wrong with wanting the kids to appreciate what they have and regularly reminding them. Also Ab the ying and yang between you and Pete is not a problem, our mum dished out the discipline in our house growing up but it didn’t stop up loving and respecting her more than anything in the world when we grew up. The most important thing is to be on the same page in front of the kids whether you agree or not. Discuss your thoughts in private and then compromise. Finally our one regret is not encouraging our daughter to continue playing the piano, she was doing so well but when she reached 15 she got bored when other things got in the way (boyfriends etc.). She’s in her 30’s now with a family of her own but says she wishes we had pushed her a little harder with the piano, she regrets giving that up! 🤷‍♂️ Lovin the podcast 👌

  • imo, enforce the homework routine not so much for the sake of homework per se (as some have mentioned it shouldn't be needed in and of itself) but you should definitely still set the routine and enforce it to instill some discipline in the kids. you don't want your kids to grow up becoming typical spoilt/entitled rich kids. saw so many of them at uni and they were terrible to be around and heaven help you if you ended up having to do any group projects with them.

  • Homework is overrated...by teachers. Kids' homework should be helping their parents with dinner and learning to clean and take care of themselves and their family home. Half-hour of HW per night is plenty. Subjects should rotate each day.

  • If a guy turned up at my house to take me on a date with an umbrella (and it was raining obvs) - I’d genuinely find that suave. What man would make the effort with his self to look smart then get drenched & feel uncomfortable. The umbrella tells me he thinks ahead. Nothing worse than someone who says “ didn’t think that one through” ☔️❤

  • I wouldn't usually care but god, the whole conversation about men with umbrellas triggered me so much, if a woman told me off for using an umbrella I'd be out of there so fast. 🤣 Just reenforcing toxic masculinity, men should be hard, they shouldn't care about getting wet. Who likes getting soaking wet it's fucking miserable.
