Im black and white and i honestly love the message she is tryna convey but to try to tell little black boys and girls in this country that the odds aren't stacked against them is just a big lie. Me and my sister didnt even know our grandparents or any of our white family for the first 10 yrs of our lives because how ashamed they were of their daughter for having black babies. And we're in N.Y!!! I couldn't imagine other not so tolerant parts of the U.S.
A study was done by one of the ivy league schools (exact one slips my memory for the moment). But a group of young white students were asked individually how much would it cost for them to trade their skin color in for black and some said no amount and others said many many millions. Nobody said "nothing at all i would love to be black!!!" So young white people completely understand that this would mean a straight free fall off america's socio-economic hierarchy if they traded in being white for black. But a lot of white people feel like admitting this would somehow implicate them, wrongly i might add, in America's continuous exploitation and denigration of its black population. To fix something you have to first admit there is something broken, when people deny there is a serious problem in this country they stand directly in the way of the voices that are calling for change, real change.

Just because he's white doesnt mean he has it easy, doesnt mean he too is racist basically the majority of the 'white community' just want to get on with their day. I'm mixed race and I always feel like a lot of mixed people can feel ashamed of being half black or half white. I always stand my ground and remind people that my Mum is white and I am not ashamed to scream it from the rooftops. Sick and tired of normal people getting discriminated for crimes done in the past when most of us werent even born! Yes history should be taught but they also need to show the easily influenced all the good people aswel(are doing regardless of race).
