You typed so much to try to point something out that I never said...So I'll explain what I met and try to keep it simple...When I said it could go mainstream I was simply pointing out how well the song is put together and how it's so catchy that it could get airtime on radio ...now with that being said you do realize just because they are independent that wouldn't prevent them from getting played on the radio because Tom has had a few of his that got some airtime and Tom was actually very happy about it .
When I first listened to the song I was wondering, “Okay, who did she kill?” And then I realized that the context of the song actually explains this. It starts with the line “Took the knife from her back, and she cut through her wrist” and later in the song she says “Kill the old me, I’m the true Nova.” She also calls herself a “Super Nova”, and a supernova is a star that dies before it is reborn as a number of other space phenomena (sometimes a black hole, other times an object that is even brighter than the original star). She killed the version of herself that everyone else tried to force her to become, the version that wanted to please other people. She became her own person and now she doesn’t care what anybody else thinks of her.

She helps Tom write a lot of his songs not the other way around. I love them both but to say this isn't her that she's just mimicking her bf style is just not correct at all.
