listening to this as an overture to the same exact circumstance. of course, it was my own doing that put me here.....my time management for deadlines was always abyssmal. this semester i think i just gave up

Can't have a villain playlist without O Fortuna, that piece is a must
Def! 😂 my brother and i have been listening to that piece since i was 6 or so lol
@@rosedawson7078 Same, as a kid I was scared of it but now I love it
@@alessandrozappulla3871 asdfghjkl- it would
I just listened to Carmina Burana in my home town live in an open air theater. Such a great coincidence. The entire thing is so great.
Same with Toccata & Fugue.
What really turned me into a villain was the ads interrupting my brooding
O Fortuna was made for all villains worldwide. Change my mind
You left out villains in the Netherworld... But yea, you're right.
I don't know about all villains, but it was definitely made for early-mid 20th century villains. Written by Orff in 1934, with themes that depicted debauchery--consumption of drink, money and flesh--as well as the rise and fall of fortune associated with them, it, not surprisingly, I might add, that the Nazi regime took inspiration from it: "Orff’s masterpiece greatly appealed to the Nazi regime, to whom its rhythms, as one critic put it, were reminiscent of the “stamping columns of the Third Reich”. When Carmina Burana was first performed at La Scala, in 1942, it was as a showpiece for fascist values." So, I personally tend to think, whenever I hear O Fortuna, that it was made specifically for the villains who suffered the fortune and losses of two world wars and the Great Depression. Even if the roaring 20s was a brief reprieve from the ravages of war, many men who fought in WWI still couldn't recover and felt a sense of loss and amorality. Not without sympathy, it was one hell of a punishing time in history.
This is the playlist I use whenever I'm grading student papers. Both the despair and glee I feel are well realized in this playlist; despair--because your students have not paid attention to a single word you said throughout the semester, and glee--because you are about to exact retribution upon their lazy asses. When they get their papers back, they will truly understand the extent of my villainy.
Dear god...what wrath hath they wrought?
I remember your kind from my childhood!!! You are a true villain!!! (but in this day and age, I feel sorry for you)
have you considered that maybe the quality of your teaching is somewhat being reflected in their work...?
Nay, they have brought it upon themselves.
Do what you will, O Mentor, but remember that there are those such students who stand out from the rest.
As a 19th century villain I can approve this.
When being Italian and having studied Latin serves a purpose: Anyway, beautiful playlist, congrats.

My introduction to Carmina Burana (particularly O Fortuna, as well as some references from William Blake) was through Enigma's The Screen Behind the Mirror album. And in my humble opinion, I couldn't have been luckier to have been exposed to these masterpiece works in this way.
So true, T&J was my introduction to classical music too.
aesthetically pleasing as usual. i'm writing my graduate essay to this

"Cool motive, still murder." - Porfiry Petrovich (Probably)
Ye Crime and Punishment by fyodor doestevsky let's go.....!!!
As a 19th century villain I can confirm that this is what I listen to every day
"I knew that this would happen. I knew who you were. All along." He whispered. "You killed hundreds..." the old woman trembled before him on her death bed, her body so weak. Her voice so rusty and low. Scratch the surface and there's the deepest point...with nothing left, "but dear boy....-" She took a breath, her black eyes so hollow and deadly, with no soul left in them, "- I killed ten thousands." She breathed her last and her body fell limp and lifeless but the cruel smile stayed there....forever.

As always, the concepts are so much fun and make the week enjoyable. I'll take the villain persona into my meetings today!
Good curation. I got to see a thr Reubens exhibit in San Francisco a couple years ago, and saw this painting. It is so stunning in person.

Bach at 28:10 is undefeated. It went off as I am reading Berserk, just marvelous.
finally the return of part 2
So glad you decide to add Dies Irae. Low-key my favorite piece in the entire Requiem.
damn you literally made me stop studying to listen to this playlist and then daydream of the villain in the story im writing I LOVE THIS
Something I've always needed yet never had. Thank you!
Great music. Let it be known, darkness will never overpower the light 🕯
Can’t wait to listen to this!
“You?! YOU did all of this?!” “Yes. Surprised, aren’t you?” “Why?!” “Because of what they did to us. To you! They started this fight. I simply finished it. All it took was time, patience, and the will to see it through to the end.” “All the horrors! The destruction, the pain and suffering!” “All of it necessary to get our revenge.” “Dear God, little brother; what have you become?!” “Myself.”
Aaaaa so epic omg 🤣😍
Finally a villain playlist with O Fortuna! Somehow that was very absent from a few lists I've looked at!
Thanks for the reupload!
Don Giovanni fits extremely well with the painting, feels like a music battle between the two guys

I wish more classical music playlists had works with vocals !! Loved this playlist, thanks !
YES I AM HERE TO LISTEN THIS AGAIN
Exquisite to listen to while giggling at one’s misery, 10/10 very nostalgic.
O fortuna playing in the background as i'm forging a double edge sword to sleigh the commercials that come on and interrupt these classics..OFF WITH THIER HEADS.
I always felt like it should be a 17th or 18th century villain instead of 19th century one.
fr like I'm starting to think they don't know when the 19th century was T-T
A real villain doesn't care which century they are in.
Exactly. The picture usually used on these type of 19th century videos usually corresponds to the medieval period (maybe) or the 18/17th century.

PLSSSS THIS KIND OF MUSIC MAKE FEEL LIKE THE MOST POWERFUL HUMAN IN THE WORLD
Working on youtube content for 12 hours can be mind melting.. but w/ this in my ear it reminds me of purpose.
Really impressive selection of songs! I hear a lot of inspiration in today's movie soundtracks (and Japanese RPG, of course) that it's really incredibly sad that there's so little interest in classical music!
The background is a bit scary though but the playlist is chill :)

Damn, I really got nothing to write, I guess I'm tired lol. I'll write a lilttle something, in some hours??? So uh... it's quite a mess, but I had fun! The man sighed in tiredness, as if the sin he commited seconds ago didn't affect him at all, as if he has numb to death and suffering; however, Raphael looked in awe at his friend's corpse, just a faint call came out of hiss trembling mouth. - Sa... Salazar. After that he stayed mute, as if the snake of God bit his tongue, making him unable to express his grief. - Raphael, if you talk one more time, another one of your friend will die. The man above the group, naked from waist up, was resting his head upon his knuckles. He seemed tired, like his energy was drained every second he was alive. Still shocked by his friend's death, he looked at the man in terror. - Stop... I beg of you, kill me! let them free! The words of Raphael were useless, as the man pointed the gun at the woman to the left of Raphael. - You talked. And by that rule he pulled the trigger, and the woman fell, and became a corpse of his making. - ANNE! YOU...! YOU! I'LL KILL YOU! I SWEAR UPON GOD- But his curse wouldn't finish, as the trigger was pulled once again, now against the tallest in the group, he fell as well. The youngest, and the one who screamed in pain, dind't sucumb to anger, but to sadness, his rage for the death of the woman he loved was no more, and in its place there were just tears coming from his eyes, and he stayed quiet once again. - You have commited crimes much greater than mine, while I am numb to my own suffering, you are numb to other's suffering, you cry for yourself, because you suffer. That's your flaw, and the culprit of this outcome; while I pity you, i will not let you free, sinner... You have experience only but a fraction of what you are going to feel. Welcome to hell, this is what you deserve. Raphael stayed silent, however a faint chuckle was heard. - Your true self is coming to shore, I suppose. But be welcomed, for the Devil greets you as your most steeemed follower, Raphael, until the end of time you'll suffer. And the man stood up and went to Raphael, kneeling to him. - Raphael, or well... Azrael. Welcome back. - I apologize, Uriel. Raphael was quite a pain to kill, but thanks to you, I regained my right to bring hell upon these lands, am I right? Devil. - You always are, God. You always are... And thus, the shell which contained God broke, and let out the culprit of the chaos which will engulf this world. The two faces of the same coin, Uriel and Azrael. The coin of destruction.
