Fun fact about Malaysia's duty taxes: Many supercar owners avoid their import duty taxes by registering the supercars in tax-free islands, similar to registering your car to some states in the US. The dealership will handle bringing the car to the mainland. There are of course some caveats such as you are only allowed to drive the car on the mainland for 90 days max, no longer than 30 days per visit. But get this, you don't drive the supercar everyday and you don't need it to be on your driveway the whole year. Often supercar owners own dozens of duty-free cars and they rotate it every month. This is actually a clever move as you can own more supercars and you don't have to spend as much. Picture this: You can afford 3 duty-paid supercars in Malaysia, but instead of doing just that, you can buy 6 supercars, register them in the duty free islands and you can rotate the cars you wanna have at a period of time of the year. Sadly only the filthy rich do it, but it's rather an intriguing trivia nonetheless.
As a Malaysian, I feel your pain when you mentioned the filthy rich lol
the rich always has ways to get around the law

That's amazing! Thank you for hosting this video. It has somewhat caught my attention that there is a reverse-effect on the UK. Tunisia with 350% to 800% most expensive car is a rolls royce phantom with 870%
In Bangladesh You have to play almost 900% tax for a Land Cruiser(the big one) because of its 5.7L V8, Doesn't stop people from buying them.
I live in Thailand where a second hand NA miata cost over 25K USD.
A second hand range rover still costs over 100,000$.
True, even though it's old it's still expensive. แม้จะเก่าแต่ก็ยังแพง
Please do part 2 n mention South Africa its so expensive a polo start at 284,200
5:58 Oh I’m excited to see that review, I know it’s coming soon, the clips were filmed where you normally ‘test’ cars
This is a good one! I think most people watch your movies in lots of other countries, so do I :)
As Indonesian, that thumbnail made me literally dying 😂 But if you guys think the price of the sports cars in Indonesia is very expensive (in our perspective), you would be surprised that we have to buy the entry level trim of the BMW 3-Series at the same price as the BMW Z4 M40i in England.
Thumbnail nya membuat hati ini sedih 😂😂
But in my point of view Indonesian people are quite YOLO when it comes to buying vehicles. Muricans will argue over a $600 price difference, whereas Indonesians will happily shove $8k more for a particular car over other cars in a particular class. Difference is, Indonesians rarely drive their expensive cars.
Pingin punya jdm😢
Even a beige mobile such as the Camry and Accord are considered luxury cars in Indonesia and priced as such, $50k for a fucking camry ? seriously ? wtf
Enaknya di indo harga mobil bekas masih lumayan tinggi guys, jadi give and take lah
In UK you can buy ,a rolls royce cullinan may cost 400k pounds .. But in INDIA it costs 1.1million pounds.. . . Now we talking..
I was waiting Mat to say Malaysia,🤣🤣🤣🤣
+1🤣
Up haahaha
yup same goes to mee
yeah man
me too haha
Mate, we've got around %220 tax on cars here in Turkey. The RS6 costs around £450,000 here.
you should have mentioned india as it has 200% tax. a base model e class here is as expensive as a s550 in uk
Thank you for this video. Electrical cars are starting to make sense in the UK, but in South Africa the import tax increases the price so much that you can buy a golf GTI and pay for 10 years of petrol as opposed to buying a BMW i3. Madness!
You should have put Denmark on here because of taxes. A car that costs 40.000 GBP in the UK costs 100.000 GBP in Denmark because of taxes, so about 1.5 times the cars value on top of the market value
The 911 series in Denmark, starts with a base price from +190.000 £. I believe that the prices In Vietnam are around the same as well.
I lIve in Bali and ordered a Toyota Supra in February 2021,.. it has just arrived now 25th October and I still waiting for it to be released by Toyota,.. one good thing was that the Indonesian Gov. reduced the C02 tax component on the car on 16th October 2021 so I go discount of just over 8,5000 GBP,... Car has still cost me overt 100 grand GBP but worth it,.. I hope,..
You missed Turkey 😳😳 everything is expensive as hell
Well it's better to pass Turkey otherwise toxic nationalists would fill up comment section
Hahaha yeah
@@1lmagnific0 true its just sad
@@1lmagnific0 As I understand from the name you are also a Turkish person, are you a toxic nationalist too?

From Malaysia here! Love your videos as always and everytime Matt mentioning the car price I’ll automatic times 5 and times 2 the price will get the price in Malaysia
tengok bmw 3 series M340i contohnya. kat sana 50k pound je. kat malaysia RM402k

Usually I'll just add a zero behind how much it costs in USD to know how much it costs in MYR hahaha
@@erwinchee lol 😂. btw i didnt know a lotta malaysians layan carwow
In my country, Guatemala, we get the GR Yaris for the equivalent of £50,000 🥲 and the Cayman GT4 for £150,000 🥲🥲 (And yet, lots of people have Porsches 😅, they are the most common sports cars here!)
Dont forget about Iran we dont get cats later than 2018 and from 2015 to 2018 we didnt get any cars more than 2000cc and the taxes were about 150% but in the dealerships it will become about 300% !!!! Example : 318i e46 sedan will cost you about 40k usd and the salary is about 1k usd per a year :)
in turkey, when buying a car, you literally go into bed with the tax office, you pay for 4 and handover 3 cars to the tax office.
Devlete 2 bankaya 1
Aga ben de tam u forgot turkey yazcaktım
It's the same thing here in Tunisia. Buying a Renault clio would cost you a kidney and the soul of your new born child 😂😵
Summary: If you want to buy (niche) cars, don't live in Asia.
Apalagi di Indonesia sama Malaysia, bisa kering kantong
@@rajasultanmubarrar3556 benar..auto sakit dada

@@cravenchua8806 All asia? sure?

i wish that you added turkey where sells supra for 350k+$
Here in norway cars are around double the price in the uk. But if you buy from the uk then the wheel is on the wrong side and tax to register it often costs more than the car is worth🤪
In denmark, we have a registration tax of 180%!!!
It is 150% now. Used to be 180%
